The Domain name and website start-up.

First of all the set up was a breeze , all Thanks to Mr. Seslow! The recording of the step by step process on how to setup and register using the coupon code and applying your domain name was all in the click of a video. From start to finish it was a very pleasant experience.

Feedback on other classmates website!

When I first worked on my website, I wanted to try out a few things and share on here. The first thing that I wanted to share was the interesting scientific facts on my website. The process was very smooth and I loved every part of working on the content.

Next, I started going through a few of my classmates website. I loved checking out some of those websites and found them super intriguing and exciting to check out. I personally loved the fact that everyone was doing a great job with their customized website.

The first website that really caught my eyes was Anju Anthony’s website, https://iamanju.com/ I really liked how she displayed some of the most interesting scientific blogs. I am also very into scientific blogs, therefore her website was very interesting to me.

I also loved Maria’s website. http://eyeconicny.com/ She added pictures of New York to her website and it is always so interesting to see NY pictures! I loved all the pictures that she added.

CT101 Gone but not Forgotten

I sincerely wish for this class to NOT be over. This is the most interactive class I have had to date I loved learning about different aspects of blogging such as GIFs and memes and I also adored how the assignments weren’t so complicated like other classes who just want to teach the material and give us exams that would only cause us emotional and  physical pain but this class….

I got started on my Website therotatingrock.com which is about show recommendations for people who do not know what to watch or like small summaries of the show. Like Castlevania  which is about vampires, monsters hunters, magic and a whole lot of blood. The story is quite amazing and it has a lot of great action scenes. I wouldn’t recommend it to watch with your kids though since its TV-MA.

Honestly, I have not been maintaining my website as much as I would like to. It still look basic with all the posts on the homepage. However, I will cherish he skills I have learned from CT101 for building my own website one day or I will try to update this one once in a while (take this with a grain of salt).

As for my grade i think I might deserve around a B to a B+ since I’m usually late to posting the blogs and only done a couple post on my website

Would I ever recommend this class to anyone? I have and will

CT101 Final Blog Post / Suyi Yang

Honestly, CT101 is the most practical class I’ve ever taken, all the text is all instruction on how to do my homework, although it doesn’t look that important, but making memes and gifs can be totally used in daily life. The professor, Seslow, is a very gentle and funny person, he lays out the tutorials in such detail that a ten year old could do it, and I would like to take his class again if I get the chance.

I think I can get a B or B+, although my assignments are not very polished I take each one of my assignments seriously and try to learn something from them.

Although memes and gifs are only a small part of this class, my favorite part is this one, making my favorite images whenever and wherever I want. This class is mainly about blogging, I need to create my own website and cultivate it, so I can use many of the tips that I learned in this class.

I don’t think I’ll update my website very often. I’ll update it when I’m unhappy or when I have something I want to say inside but can’t, with pictures I like and describes, which is very much in line with my character all the time. I like to create a social account that no one knows about and post my thoughts in it, and I think this web site will eventually take that form.

Finally, I’m really very upset because it’s rare to come across this kind of course where you can talk about your own ideas (because you are designing your own website!) This does not affect me in any way love it and professor Seslow lol.

WEEK#9 Registering a Domain Name

Registered a domain name..Happy Season 17 GIF by The Simpsons

..however, I thought I followed the proper instructions to sign out then log back in directly from google and guess what?! I was locked out for 20 minutes.

Season 3 Wall GIF by The Simpsons

Since I have time to spare, I look forward to writing things down as the professor advised us, instead of trying to remember everything.

Look forward to my website, it will be posted in the next couple of blogs.. once I can actually log in.

The Mid-Semester Assessment post

  1. I personally am embarrassed to even respond to this question, I do not believe I am doing my full potential in this class it has been difficult to take classes online with an infant. I thought online would be easier and in fact it is harder .
  2. I’ve learned how to make my own  Gifs using pictures from youtube which is amazing !
  3. The skills I developed I’ve displayed in my posts are implementing GIFS , I was never able to put a GIF in my post and now I know how.

why did I choose my domain name.

Honestly when choosing my domain name it was pretty easy for me I typically use this name I feel like it fit me. I did not have any doubt in my mind that it would get approved within the first try.  However if my name was not approved here are a few other names I thought about .

  1. TheKylaFactory.com (This gives me my childhood vibes from Charlie and the chocolate factory.)
  2. Happyplace.com (My website is going to be a place where people get to come feel free and get encouragement)
  3. KingKyla.org  (This was in case .com was taken .)
  4. MissionVERYpossible.com  (Very famous slogan with a little humor)
  5. yougotthis!.org  (To remind people its okay to struggle but you need to get back up and strive.)

https://www.tiktok.com/

has had a very big impact on my website for two reasons which kind of contradict themselves. One I’ve seen people be so nice and caring to people they have no idea who they are when they seen they was having a bad day just to boost someone else up . Also I have seen people be so rude and disgusting toward people they have never met and I knew everyone can use a website with only positive vibes.

digital storytelling learning project .

This assignment required me to take a normal photo of myself and then make it twice as bigger . This is the assignment I felt I could do based on my knowledge of photoshop and digital editing. What I did was take a normal photo of myself cropped the photo only to show my eyes, zoomed it twice as much and changed the lighting view. here is the final picture .

BIG EYES

https://daily.ds106.us/tdc3408/

This is the Ghost silhouettes . This looks like something I would like to learn how to do because it looks flawless. You don’t see any shadows behind the piece and it looks effortless even though I know it must have taken a lot of time effort and skills to complete this. Hopefully with future practice I will be able to complete something like this for my website.

FINAL BLOG POST

When I first joined this class, I had no idea what to expect. Since my friend Chelsea recommended it to me, I decided to give it a try. I did not think I would be enjoying this class as much as I did! This class has been very helpful and I have learned things that I will 100% use in the future. I can’t even begin to mention how many gifs I have ended up creating, and how this class made me understand technology better. Now, a recap of this semester

What did you enjoy about our class and how you will apply your new skills into the world?

There were many things that I enjoyed about this class. The #1 thing I enjoyed was the usage of gifs.

I like creating gifs and using them for different purposes. Now I can create gifs whenever I choose to do so and I can respond to people with gifs. I will definitely use this a lot when making posts as well. I enjoyed many other things such as making memes, learning about memes, creating my own website, and the process of making the website.

Will you maintain and keep up your new website? If so, how? If not, Why not?

I will try my best to keep maintaining my website. This was something that I actually thought of doing before I even took this class. Now that I know how to make my own website, and I have one I want to try to expand on it. And since I plan to make stories, this website is a good place to keep my stories. Call me Geronimo

If I’m struggling when I’m making and editing my website, I will go back to any notes I have that Ryan gave me. If needed, I would ask for a bit of help via email.

Now to discuss my website. Making a website for the first time was a joy to make. One of the hardest things when making my website was the domain name. I had no idea what name I should go with, and I wanted it to be a name that represented me. After some time and thinking I finally decided http://wilts-stories.com/. I watched the recordings several times and took time when I was making my website. My website is filled with different stories, and I’m hoping future stories will be on there as well. The stories on there are some that I made up and some of my own personal experience. I hope to add some comics I make on there as well. Also, I gave the family dog her own page Moka.

Now, before I finish, let’s do a recap.

First post, what makes me happy on the internet

I also have commented on multiple classmates’ posts and websites.

What grade do I think I deserve? I think I deserve an A-, A or an A+, around the A range. Usually, I would say a different grade in this case, but for this class, and my website I really enjoyed the work and ended up doing a lot of work. Professor has been very helpful and I have attended about every class on time. Also, I would definitely recommend this class to other students for sure! Take care, everyone!

It’s… THE FINAL BLOG POST!!

What was interesting about CT 101 was that I learned about several tools and items that we use every day and how to create them. These include, but are not limited to, GIFs, memes, websites, and website features. It was interesting to learn how seamless it is to create the aforementioned content. As I said, these are items we use daily and I never realized how easy they were to create. Although meme creation has existed for a while, I never thought to create my own because I usually just share the ones I find all over the internet and save them to my camera roll. These are skills I can now utilize to garner creative content and factor it into my career as a journalist.

As for the grade I deserve…

via giphy

(That’s something I had to think long and hard about)

In all honesty, I deserve between a B and a B+. I tried to keep up with assignments and gave it my all, but I wish I could have been better about the upkeep of the website. I definitely could have done more with it, because when I finally posted on it, it was about something I enjoyed doing and found it helpful to people who may be experiencing burnout.

To piggyback off of my earlier statement, I enjoyed learning about creating these tools that are so seemingly ubiquitous. Particularly for website building, I’ll use these skills to create my own website for publishing reporting/blogging content. I already have a website for this, but it’s a bit more casual, where I use it for school and freely as a blog where I post my own content. If I ever have a blog that has a specific niche, then I’ll consider using these skills.

As for maintaining the site, I’m not sure. To be honest, I don’t think so at this point. I would like to have a blog with a specific purpose, as I never intended my blog for CT 101 to have a specific purpose. It was hard trying to pinpoint what the website would be about in the first place, and it’s not the most pressing issue on my mind right now, especially given that it’s the end of the semester, summer is on the horizon and I’m thinking about my senior year and graduate school.

Usage of my website: Upon creating the website, I really did not have a certain direction for it. However, over time, I realized it didn’t have to be specific to a certain theme and I decided to just go with whatever came to mind. My interests, hobbies, thoughts, etc. are what I put into my website and what I would continue to include if I use it in the future. As for what I succeeded in with my site, I think constructing one in the first place would be a huge success. I believe doing anything for the first time warrants success, and everyone should take pride in that. Of course, with the success, came frustrations.

One frustration, which I mentioned before, was trying to give the site a purpose, which I eventually overcame. Another frustration is one I still have today. I honestly wish I did more with the site in terms of content. I think if I stuck to using it each week to share my interests, hobbies and thoughts, it could have been a way for me to “vent” to the world, and also serve as something I could use to ease my mind, rather than look at it as an obligation for a class.

A meme I made earlier in the semester based on a joke from the same Spongebob episode pictured here.

CT101 Final Blog Post Anil Mangroo

Goodbye Fellow Classmates! (These are tears of joy not sadness lol)

What grade do I think i have earned in this class?
To be honest, i think i earned an A- in this class, or hopefully around that range.

Why do I think i have earned this grade?
I think i earned that grade because while I completed many assignments towards the end of this course, i still managed to complete all of them. I am really hoping my blog posts are up to par with the course expectations. I do think while some of my blog posts are short in content they are rich in quality, and not dragged along to bore the viewer (I hope lol).

What do I enjoy about the class?
I really enjoyed the communication and laughter we had in this class. BTW enjoy this snippet of this virtual class doing something fun and quirky below.

For this being my last semester at York College, this course was one of two courses being taught asynchronous with a set schedule that I took. It was great waking up and starting my day building my creative skills. This course encouraged me to dig deep and refresh myself into finding who i was and what made me radiant. One of my favorite things about this class was the introduction to animation and how unique every piece can be. Towards the end of this semester I started feeling a bit lazy but i think the fact that i got to wake up and create art was my determination to keep going. Moreover I am pretty sure the professors cheerful morning talk with the class woke everyone up (In a good way! lol).

How will your new skills apply into the world?

I think these skills will be supplementary to me on a business & personal level. On an operational scale I think I am going to use my knowledge developing a second website of my own business franchise where i can direct people too for inquiries and price quotes, and personally I think these skills will help me develop my personal website into something that can best reflect me.

Will you maintain and keep up your website?
I absolutely plan to keep up my website. Prior stating, i plan to post at least 3 blog posts or photographs every day. Any day missed is detrimental to the future of this website; absence in blogging is an easy way to desertion.

My website link URL is https://anilmangroo.com/

Tour of My Website
While my website is a reflection of my hobbies, so far I am currently using it by posting a culmination of my photography & supporting verbiage such as; still, abstract, light and environment images under the photography & Blog menu drop down.

Some Successes!

So far my success has been my customization of the website, it is close to exactly how i envisioned it, even though it is still unfinished. I am really into the color scheme and how the photography menu has its own drop down section with different types of photographs.

Some Hardships…

I had some difficulty separating blog posts into their menu categories, and the youtube videos showing how to work with the WordPress classic editor are terrible!! Stick with Professors videos! They are the easiest explanation.
My only other hardship so far.. was formatting images and separating them so they are not glued together, however I am still working on this issue lol.

I have to say, this class was really refreshing, while the tears are flowing this is not the end, i will be sure to explore other classes in website development & animation professor may teach in the future. Thank You

Bye Bye CT 101 Final Blog post/reflection.

It’s a shame that this class has come to an end; studying and doing stuff remotely, as well as sharing a story using online arts and memes, were both enjoyable aspects of this class. I enjoyed learning how to publish and create a story using digital storytelling.

How I enjoyed this class & Plans on using the skills learned

CT 101 was a very enjoyable and creative class; I really enjoyed the creative aspects of this class, which included designing something and sharing it with the rest of the class. I have had a lot of fun learning how to make Memes and GIFS. Learning about the history of memes, the internet’s own kid, was also helpful in keeping me informed about the class’s subject. If I need to create and launch a website in the future, it will be easier to apply the skills I learned in class. Since I use Tik Tok to express myself, I’m thinking about using this feature to be more creative on social media in addition to digital storytelling.

Memories of the first-ever Meme and GIFS  I created
How the Creation of my website began

Before going on Midterm Break, we were given the task of coming up with several names for our website. I decided right away what my website would be, and it was going to be called AKBL. I just wanted to talk to people who enjoy dramas to find out how they felt about them. To be honest, it was extremely difficult for me after I created my website because I had no idea how to begin or customize it. However, the idea came later, and I used it to list most of my interests.

Future plans can be found on the website. I'll keep my new website up for the time being because I think it'll be fun to keep adding to it. However, since I am inconsistent in my actions, I am unable to make any guarantees about the future. But, at the end of each week, I'd make an effort to update my website.

Things I learned this Semester

Since I’ve learned and applied what I’ve learned to my next thought, the skills I’ve acquired in this class are innovative learning and thinking. In this class, I’ve developed my communication skills by listening to and engaging with my peers’ work. I’ve developed a number of digital skills, including writing social media posts about subjects that concern me.

Closing remarks.

To sum up this, I am hoping for an A this semester. Looking back on this class Journey, I’ve learned a lot of useful information that will assist me in the future. It was a pleasure to be a part of this class, and I want to express my gratitude to Professor Ryan Seslow for making it so enjoyable. In addition, I’m learning a new ability that I can use in the real world.

CT101 Final Blog Post & Course Completion

Course Reflection

Throughout the semester in CT 101, I have learned a lot about my major as well as myself. I never saw myself as much of artist or graphic/web designer, but in taking this class I feel that I could have a possible career in this field. Considering the fact that I might want to design and maybe eventually help create video games, this course has helped me to better my skills.

Re-Cap Questions

1.What did you enjoy about our class and how you will apply your new skills into the world? In this class class, I definitely enjoyed the freedom of expression and dedication to culture and artistry. I felt free to be as creative as I wanted to be, allowing me to explore parts of my creativity I now value very much. And I have to say that the PicsArt Meme Maker was the app downloaded during this class that I enjoyed the most. I definitely plan on using my new found skills in the real world to create things for a better tomorrow.

2.Will you maintain and keep up your new website? If so, how? If not, Why not? The absolute best part of this class was creating a website. At first I thought the process was going to be difficult, but it wasn’t hard at all. Professor Seslow, for every assignment, especially this one, gave a step by step lesson and video on each blog post since week #1. I appreciated that a lot because it made things a lot easier. But yes, I do plan on maintaining my website, using it as a platform for creativity and inspiration for others. Times are tuff sometimes and we all need a little motivation every once in awhile, and my website, TheDreamLair, can help with that. With the right amount of inspiration, comedy and creativity, anything is possible.

Final Website Link & Description

My website TheDreamLair is a place where hopes and reams go to thrive. Over the course of quarantine, I found myself stuck in a bit of a rut, until finally my second semester of college had started and I was taking CT 101. It really put things into perspective for me, I had already been trying to become an influencer and this website just added on to the other sources of light in the darkness of the world. I know it sounds a bit over zealous, but my hope is to take this website to the next level. “Dreams can begin small, but with some hard work, they can turn into something beautiful.” (Shark Tale Movie Quote)

I really enjoyed taking this class, and can’t wait to take more CT classes next semester!

9 lessons and overall experience with CT101

What did you enjoy about our class and how you will apply your new skills into the world? How can you describe my journey with CT101 ?

A few months ago I ate a delicious piece of cheese.

It was sooooo good……

It made me STOP……. and think about its origin.

🤔

Heres what I found out…..

HOW CHEESE IS MADE: The 5 step process to make amazing CHEESE.

step 1.Milk the cow

step 2. Pasteurize the milk at the right temperature to kill 💉bacteria.

step 3. Add ingredients

step 4. Incubation period / Leave it to age

Wrap up the cheese- In a controlled humid Environment for a few months so we it breath, stay humid, and ripen it’s surface.

step 5: Keep checking on it for the next few months. If mold has grown underneath, remove it off and when it is clean, try waxing the cheese.

finally—-It is ready to be served…

IT TURNS OUT THAT MY CT 101 EXPERIENCE WAS QUITE SIMILAR TO THIS PROCESS……LET ME EXPLAIN

Writing CT 101 blogs begins with…..

step 1.Milk the brain.

Milking out the brain means doing lots of writing without editing…. The goal is to write down every single thing that comes to mind…In this phases quantity is more important and quality.

step 2. kill 💉  what doesn’t work

After our first brain milking… it time to delete/ Edit what you wrote down. Some of what you wrote down has to go….KILL IT.

step 3. Add ingredients

After your first edit, you will begin to add the right ingredients.

step 4. Incubation period

In this phase, wrap things up and stop working on the blog for a while.

Take a break !

Allow the blog to breath and ripen in your brain. ( your brain will automatically work on it in the background as you do other things.

step 5: After a while Keep checking, deleting , adding, and tweaking the blog until its ready.

finally- You can publish it.

Old and new lessons from ct101:

In my midterm post https://ct101.commons.gc.cuny.edu/why-midterms-are-important/

I discussed 5 lessons that I have learned ( which are listed below) that I would like to share with you again….

Lessons before mid term

recap

1.Memes and trying humor. In blog # 3 , I learned to try humor with memes to engage the readers.
2. Ideas can come from anywhere. Keep your mind open for them.  While working on blog # 5, I learned how ideas can come to you anytime and anywhere, while you shower, drive , watching TV , etc.Be open minded and use your environment to be more creative.
3.Move things around until it feels right. While working on blog #2 and # 3  I learned to move different sections around to have better structure in the narrative.

Here is the 3 step process.

1.Break down the blog into different PARTS

2.Move the P A R T S around.

3.Connect each part to the next.

4.kill your darlings…..Sometimes you have to get rid of a section. While writing blog # 1, I learned how sometimes you have to drop and kill a section in your blog for the greater good of the whole story.
5. Take time to write. After submitting my worst blog post # 4I realized how good writing really requires a lot of effort.

Ha-lf assed efforts = Ha-lf assed results.

4 more lessons after midterms…….

1.Why blogs die young.

After submitting the midterm blog ( which I thought was my best one).  I started to doubt if any one even read it.

I love writing, however I am not writing just for myself.

My goal in writing is to add value to the reader.

I spend hours writing and editing  my blogs so I find it less meaningful if no one read it………

Later that week , I discovered that professor Seslow read my midterm blog which made me happy……

I think this is why so most blogs die young…

When no one is reading your work its hard to keep writing but we must persevere. Especially  in the beginning.

2.Your Domain name matters.

The domain name  to your website is like storefront to a business.

It needs to be catchy , simple,  smooth , welcoming , and relevant to your  content.

I honestly HATE my domain name !!!

HHTOOLBOX.COM

Will you maintain and keep up your new website? If so, how? If not, Why not?

My plan is to change my domain name. So yes I would like to keep my website and write on a weekly basis.

3. Ideas have a life span.

In her book Big Magic: How to Live a Creative Life, and Let Go of Your Fear,  Elizabeth Gilbert talks about how she once had a brilliant idea for a novel that took in the Amazon Rainforest in Brazil.

She conducted lots research for the book and was read to start. However due to a circumstances she had pause.

2 years later when she came back to work on it , she couldn’t write anything. The idea had died.

She writes…

I’m pretty stubborn about sticking with projects, so I prodded at the thing for several months, trying to make it work again, hoping to bring it back to life. But it was useless. Nothing I’m pretty stubborn about sticking with projects, so I prodded at the thing for several months, trying to make it work again, hoping to bring it back to life. But it was useless. Nothing was there. It was like poking a stick at a cast-off snakeskin: The more I messed with it,

Gilbert eventually gave up on the idea and pursued something else that went on to be successful.

Something similar happened to me as I was finishing my 7th blog.

Heres what happened……

I published the first draft with hopes that I will finish the conclusion later.

With a busy schedule I procrastinated and lost motivation every single day that passed.

After 2 weeks of procrastinating my desire to finish the conclusion died out. I had all my research ready but just could not write.

LESSON ? Don’t procrastinate on a good idea.

4. A picture is worth a thousand words.

As I was writing blog # 9, I wanted to explain how cities are more creative than villages  _______________________ __________________________________________.

__________________________________________.

For some reasons writers block descended upon me, and I didn’t know what to write.

Then I remembered something I read a few years ago where Bill Gates would doddle when he got stock on a problem….

So I went to google images and Google draw and decided to just play around with pictures………

eventually I ended up with this visual , which I think was better than what I would have wrote.

Copyright Assignment

“Among our children their is a growing copyright abolitionism”

I chose this quote because this is a quote describing my generation, who  supposedly neglect copyright. Even though it is common for younger individuals to be against it in reposting vines, tik toks & Facebook content without tagging the content creator, I fully support it. I think copyright should be appropriately accepted because its purpose is to acknowledge creators and their work. Their work can serve as inspiration to others, but in the end, it is not there to be taken from them without due credit.

  1. What is copyright?

Copyright gives owners the right to their intellectual or creative property. They are the only one that can take credit for that work and make changes to their work.

2.Why is there copyright?

The purpose of copyright is to protect authors and their work while allowing others to benefit from their work. Normally protecting literally, and artistic work.

3.How much should users of the web think about copyright as you and others share, re-share, and remix content on the web?

Users should think about it a lot, especially since it is a law. Many schools and jobs have very strict copyright rules to help individuals to follow proper copyright rules.

4.What is fair use?

…eh eh em with a legal exception Marge

Fair use allows individuals under certain circumstances to use verbatim of an individual’s work without payment or permission from the copyright holder. Instances like teaching, journalism, criticism, and research.
