Assignment #5: Exploring DS106

One of the projects I would like to do is under Design Assignments. It is titled “You’re Invited!” and it is what I could do on my own. On the other hand, the other project is under Visual Assignments titled “Averaged Portrait”. I would like to learn this project, especially since I do not know how to Photoshop.

I chose https://assignments.ds106.us/assignments/youre-invited/ because not only did it seem doable, it was straightforward and did not require prior skills such as knowing how to Photoshop. Plus, instead of creating a well-known invitation such as a wedding invitation, I could be creative and create something different. The good thing about this project is that I can use a template already made or a picture on the internet. With https://assignments.ds106.us/assignments/averaged-portrait/ I chose it because the photo used as an example of the project captured my attention due to me finding it cool. I would have to compile photos and know how to layer the photos in Photoshop.

I created my project by using Canva. Under presentations, I searched for the type of template I wanted. When I found what I wanted, I removed the previous information on the template and replaced it with what I wanted. I liked the aesthetic of the template I chose because it displayed a party vibe and I liked the color scheme. I wrote the basic information that would be on a party invitation and geared it towards me.

Depending on the type of projects I do, should determine how many projects I do this semester. I say this because some projects can be a mixture of the assignment bank, requiring more skills and time. Also, the tools I should be using can require complicated steps. However, if the assignments are not a mixture of skills, then I would say I should do a couple of projects in the semester.

These skills are important because I can create projects of my own. As a result, I can create content that will benefit me by having viewers engage with my content. I can gain followers, likes, and business proposals because of the skills implemented in my work.

  1. Great work on this!
Not only a great choice from the DS106 grab bag, but I love how you used various media pieces to narrate your tutorial of the project itself!
    Thank You!
