Here we are: CT101 – Digital Storytelling! The Fall Semester of 2023!
Ok, this blog post is a lot things, but first and foremost it’s a welcoming! Im excited to meet everyone and share our 1st class session to connect and learn about each other. I hope that you like animated GIFS, we are going use a lot of them here, and make them too! We are going to spend a lot of time discussing ways that we communicate.
There is a myriad of compelling content to cover this semester in CT101, which will happen in many fun ways!

Its outdated and clunky..) and I will only use it to remind the class about password sensitive things or send a class e-mail. Please make sure you are familiar with the CUNY academic calendar for the semester as we will follow that..
The CT101 Class Modality / Structure – CT101 will be taught synchronously in person this semester on campus here in the lab on the 4th floor in room 4m03 (academic core building) – we will also have course work that will be assigned and completed outside of class.
Please know, I am always here to help you be the best that you can be in our course. And we are all here to do the same for each other. Our class is a community! A big part of our class is exploring your creativity and being experimental with the Internet! Plus, we will learn about the evolving array of digital tools that are available to us. We do quite a bit of the creative work from our own personal work spaces as we integrate the class work into our lives. Please know, I will always screen-record each and every assignment’s description, how-to’s and tutorials and share those videos here on our website. Please think of this website as a repository of information, energy and inspiration for the course (and beyond!)

Hi, my name is Meagan Stefanek, this is my first semester at York College as an upper sophomore transfer student. I am journalism major and am passionate about reading and writing. My other hobbies include rock climbing, hiking/camping, attempting to learn languages, and crocheting. Born and raised in Brooklyn, I am a native New Yorker and love to frequent Central Park, the Museum of Natural History and Coney Island. I am also a member of NYC’s largest rock climbing gym, the Cliffs at Gowanus in Brooklyn. I do not spend much time on the web as my schedule is packed to the brim between school, work and personal interests but I do spend some time on social media, mostly instagram or twitter. Above all, I am a mindful person who tries to see the value in all people, lessons and tribulations in my life. I am looking forward to meeting all of you this semester and getting a better insight to who the people are who walk the halls of York College.

My name is Emmanuel and I am studying Communications Technology. I look forward to taking up a Minor; definitely a Computer Science Minor. My favorite movies are based on cars and car racing, LOL. So all Fast and Furious movies, Gone in 60 Seconds and Baby Driver just to name a few. I enjoy getting my hands dirty working on cars, old and new. I learn on a trial and error basis, no specific training or education. My favorite ice cream flavor is Mint Chocolate Chip. Facebook is a place I visit very often because of Facebook Marketplace; I like to keep track of the private sellers market for cars and car parts. At the moment, I am most interested in being back in school. I have pursued a Nursing career for years and I finally realized that it isn’t for me. So now that I am doing something that I’ve always wanted to do (major in Communications) after telling myself for years that it isn’t practical, I’m excited to see what the future holds.

My name is Wendi Flores Cortes and I am in my senior year of college here at York College. My major is Interdisciplinary Studies since I really don’t know what I want to do with my life (career wise). I have several favorite movies but if I had narrowed it down to my top three (in no particular order) it would definitely be Frozen II, The Lion King (1994), and Shrek 2 . My favorite TV show of all time is The Office (U.S. Version). My favorite ice cream flavors are mint chocolate chip and birthday cake. My favorite apps are X (formerly known as Twitter), Pinterest, TikTok, and Youtube. I get fixated on certain things for certain periods of time, but my current interests are skincare, makeup, etc. (I can go on forever about things I am interested in). I am looking forward to building our own custom website and having a good semester!

My hobbies include cooking, camping, and sleeping. I am trilingual; I was born in China but raised in Brooklyn. My favorite ice cream flavors are strawberry and vanilla. Heyo everyone, my name is Joshua, but you can call me Josh. I’m going to be majoring in Communications Tech with a minor in Marketing…once I declare it. I’m currently a sophomore, and this is my second year at York. I also work in the library behind the Circulation desk so you can always say hi. My favorite ice cream flavor is Cookies n Cream, or vanilla even if that’s boring. When I’m not working or crying about the amount of homework from my other classes I enjoy writing short stories and poems and drawing the characters in my stories…(which you can actually read on Wattpad at this link (https://www.wattpad.com/story/344539469-the-protectors-book-1-reunion) it’s a fantasy/adventure type vibe if you’re into that kind of stuff). I’m a pretty quiet person so I listen to a lot of music, but love a good laugh and making people feel comfortable. I can’t really narrow down my favorite movie but I’d have to say anything Marvel.

How’s it going everyone, I’m Jonathan Cadet, a senior here at york college (finally) and I’m majoring in studio arts. My favorite movie is Kill Bill Vol 1 and 2 truly a gem and I could watch it all day every day for some reason. When I’m home I find myself usually either on the computer or being crafty hands on. I like to cook, play video games, oil paint, and make music. I forgot to mention above that I’m also a Music Production minor here at York. My artist name for music and art is JAYSXEAST, and I probably will use this as my domain name when we create a website. The Ice cream flavors I crave really depend on the mood, but I can say for sure that those Talenti Raspberry cheesecake pints at the supermarket are well worth the purchase. I usually spend my time on apps like Instagram and YouTube and Reddit, any other applications are for gaming like Steam or for music like Fl Studios.
My mind has been thinking alot about the future and the environment and where we will be 10 years from now. I just am at that age I guess where I’m searching for security that would last me a long time, and I just need to make all the right decisions now, But also excited to be done with school after this semester so my life can begin.

Hello all!
My name is Angela Beaton. I’m a third-year student pursuing a nursing degree. I’m applying to the nursing program in spring 2024 with high hopes of getting in to reach my goal. However, my initial plan is to continue towards a degree in certified registered nurse anesthetist (CRNA). I’m not a fan of movies, I enjoy watching TV series instead, such as Investigation Discovery, Law and Order, Criminal Minds, and 90 Days Fiancé, just to name a few. I enjoy the outdoors; a little walk in the park brings comfort and peace. Since I’m not a fan of sweet foods, I don’t have a favorite ice cream flavor, but my go-to flavor would be vanilla. Although I like browsing the Facebook and Instagram apps, I learned to limit the time spent on them because of my heavy schoolwork, family, and work that I juggle daily.

Hello all,
I’m Kaiya Primus. I’ve worked at York College for about seven years now and just completed my second master’s at Marist College (Information Systems management). I really missed communications type courses so I knew i had to take a chance with this course. My favorite ice cream flavor is matcha but only from places that specialize in matcha based desserts (otherwise its vanilla but ONLY the Häagen-Dazs vanilla).
In my undergrad double majored in new media and media studies in undergrad and gained an appreciation for media literacy and media analysis. I’m really looking forward to getting into content creation and learning how to build WordPress blogs. I’m also excited to have in class discussions! It’s been about four years since I engaged in face to face in person discussions in an academic setting so I’m really looking forward to that.
What makes me tick? Definitely writing. I have have been writing and publishing stories since 2007. To get through a week I usually have to write at least one short story of I’m not working on a bigger project like a novel or a novella. I’ve spent the last few years working on a variety of projects to keep things interesting in my spare time.
Aside from that I really enjoy cooking and studying Chinese as a hobby. I’m always on the hunt for new recipes so if you have a favorite don’t be shy to share it. As for Chinese? My goal is to be able to take the HSK 3 exam in January and to improve my fluency in speaking and listening.

Hello, everyone! My name is Jonathan Dedier, and I’m a sophomore majoring in communications technology. Without a doubt, my favorite movie is Disney’s “Hercules” by far. In my free time, I enjoy thrifting, sewing clothing, and reading manga. My preferred manga series is “Chainsawman,” which is pretty self-explanatory – it’s about a chainsawman. Surprise! When it comes to ice cream, my top choice is cookies and cream. The combination of creamy vanilla ice cream with crunchy cookie bits is simply irresistible. If I had to choose one web app that I enjoy using, it would be Mercari. Mercari is essentially an online thrift store that offers a wide range of items, from books to electronics. Hello, my name is Marvin Morales. i am studying music at York college and want to possibly major in music. i don’t exactly do much for activities, but i like to dabble in making music or art whenever possible and love playing video games. One of my favorite movies is ratatouille, but theres also a few others like A Silent Voice and Spider-Man Across The Spider-verse. My favorite ice cream flavor is just plain chocolate. I have been on instagram mindlessly swiping on reels for hours but also have been on youtube a lot and listening to music and watching tutorials for games. Ive been interested in music as a whole. being able to enjoy bands and artists i recently find and listening to their music for hours. For activities i normally go bowling with my cousins or we play pools. I also go to the beach and play volley ball. I use to do archery last year. But currently i got into yoga. I try to keep myself busy at times i also enjoy doing activities overall.In my spare time i love to travel the last few places i went to were Cuba, Aruba and California.
