Assignment #2: Making our first GIFs & GIF Post Narratives !

˚ ༘♡ ⋆。˚  Celebrating 30 years with GIFS.

GIFs have become a key part of our day-to-day digital communication and can be seen in every aspect of social media.  Today GIFs are synonymous with short, looping, animations but GIFs started as a way of displaying still images. In early 1986 Steve Wilhite worked on the Graphics Interchange File Format, and in 1995 created the animated GIF standard. GIFs became a new form of self-expression and that created iconic memes and GIFs that we all recognize and sometimes connect to a certain time in our lives (e.g Grumpy Cat 2012 & Nyan Cat 2011) So we celebrate 30 years of GIFs and we're excited to see more of it in the future.

One of my favorite YouTubers: Sabrina lilianeੈ✩‧₊˚

I was excited about this class because it's about blogging and a few students told me how good this course was and through this course I am happy to express my creative side through my girly blog posts.
Did you like hearing about the course and its creative content? How did it make you feel?

Yes, I did like hearing about this course and its creative content. I am thrilled to learn how to make gifs and creatively tell stories through prompts. These blog post's honesty makes me feel like I'm writing in a diary.
How does CT101 compare to some of your other classes so far?

CT101 compared to my other courses has been fun and stress-free, I have so much fun creating these posts!!
What are the creative potentials of this class?

The creative potential of the class is limitless.
How do you feel about learning new skills that use Internet tools?

I am happy to learn about new skills and I hope to take the skills I use from this class to help with my career in journalism.

My Thoughts ✧.*

Giphy was easier to work with than Imgur. Imgur did not allow me to make any GIFs - it repeatedly failed to upload. Giphy was easier to make a GIF but it did take a long time for the GIF to be created and to be downloaded despite it being a short YouTube clip.

  1. Great work on this!
Great selection of GIFs to support your narrative!
I agree, Giphy is waaaayyyy easier to use!
What did you think of the fun essays shared about GIF history?
You can add that to this post too!
    Please 🙂

  2. Hi Aniya!
I see that you included a Hello Kitty gif in your post, I also love Hello Kitty! I also thought GIPHY was much easier to use, I think I will be using that from now on whenever I want to create GIFS. Great job on your post, love the use of sparkles and the color pink, of course. 😀

    1. Thank you so much I loved your post as well, I’m also a huge fan of SpongeBob SquarePants so I always get excited when people reference the show. I totally agree with you when creating GIFs GIPHY is the one I’m choosing.

  3. Hi Aniya. I like the pink theme/aesthetic of your post. I am seeing the girly part that you mentioned. If you do not mind me asking, what made that Yotuber your favorite? Also, do you think she has influenced your lifestyle? I agree with you about Imgur and Giphy. Giphy was straight to the point which made the experience easy and quick.

    1. Thank you, she is one of my favorite YouTubers because she is a black girl that embraces her soft side which is often ridiculed within the black community, she has definitely influenced me to be my authentic self and not hide behind darker aesthetics because that’s what the black community expected of me. I would say she has had an influence on my style but not on my lifestyle my dream lifestyle would be a soft stressful free life and of course romanticized to the fullest.
