Digital ds106 – Assignment #5

Analyzing which generator to use from DS106 site had me stressed.
Trying to identify what two project ideas to work on has been SUPER overwhelming because I have never had the chance to work with the site before. But ultimately, I managed to complete the assignment and enjoyed the process. Also, this skill could be applied to my resume as a tool/software that I am familiar with so that is always a plus. Once again thinking of finding two project ideas to work on where one has to be completed and another one “that I would want to work on, has made me feel
                                                                  SUPER OVERWHELMED!
Nevertheless, I got started with rewatching the class recording. Thank God and Prof Ryan for the video recordings, they help so much! I rewatched – fast forward – rewind – freeze – and do it all over again until I finally got it.
ds106 Assignments: Populate the landscape inspired my first project. I followed step by step what Prof. Ryan did but instead of picking a Bob Ross painting I dogged into beach paintings.  I came across Beach Scene, 1862 by French painter Eugene Boudin
Once I came across it, I knew this would be the image to work with.
I love the beach even though I don’t get in the water most of the time just the fact that I can seat under the sun and receive the radiant rays’ shimmer on my skin with pureness and delicate while listening to the waves. Then BOOM! I opened up Photopea … which I was afraid of in the beginning because of all the layers to it.
I selected New Project and inserted the Beach Painting, literally DRAGGED the image in without a problem.
Meanwhile I had Photopea open, on another tab I had Pixabay opened. As soon as I picked the image above I kind of had an idea of what I wanted my final project to look like … Once on Pixabay I searched up extraterrestrial (transparent) so it had no background to it & it could be credible.
Now this is where this bad boy above came in handy! Once I had that one ready, I said mhmm… what could possibly be beaming up …
You guessed it right !! An awesome SLOTH! hahaha — unusual right? I love sloths … they are such a mood sometimes. Once I dragged all of them into Photopea and played around a little … meaning I inserted them multiple times because they didn’t come up but then I came to realize a very specific thing.

Also look at the video below, it will help you with browsing around Photopea.

Make sure the image you want to move around is on the top or else it won’t be either visible or you won’t be able to move it as prefer. I know you guys have been waiting for the big big big final project! here it is …
I am pleased with the results, sometimes simplicity is sophistication. I liked my end result … Imagine being at the beach and you seen an extraterrestrial ship beaming a sloth! I would probably grab the sloth and get beamed together :). I do see myself making more of these types of projects, once I have an idea, I like to execute it.

  1. Another Great post!
    Sloth gets abducted!
Thank you for the step by step tutorial, screen shots in tact, video to help!
I love seeing the steps organized this way, it is super helpful, and will help you retain the process and replicate it easier. Or, it will induce new ideas! More Sloth abductions?
Great overall work on this post – it utilizes all of the blogging tricks!
    Thank you!
