My Passion

Well, Well, Well looks like someone wants to know what I’m passionate about. Ok I’ll tell you what I’m passionate so read carefully 🙂

You guessed it, I’m passionate about gaming because I’ve been playing games since I was a little kid, I first had the PS2 6 years after it’s released (2007-08) and I had a lot of ps2 games like Sonic Unleashed, Sonic Heroes, Kingdom Hearts Series (1, Chain of Memories & 2), Dragon Ball Budokai 2, Final Fantasy X-2, etc. I really loved playing games even after coming home from school or on break from school, I also had the Wii in 2010, Wii U and as of today I have the PS4 since Christmas 2016 (unfortunately my old ps4 was on life support lol so I gave it away and got a new ps4 with 1TB.)

Gaming has always been my passion than basketball because I always want to relax and sometimes escape reality for a while, even though sometimes it can be boring for hours everyday but I always find ways to have fun because I’m creative and a fun person to be around with especially in both real and online worlds :D. I did also have a passion for basketball but as years come by it has been getting dull and boring to play because after seeing all the bs in the NBA and it’s rules and players being entitled, etc I just slip away from the sport but gaming will never slip away because it’s been around since I was a child.

(Unfortunately, I have no hyperlinks that I can think of when it comes to gaming but at least Quby shows examples of how I game and how every gamer feels to be honest)

Moving forward, if anyone games like I do let me know in the comments and or just don’t be afraid to say hi or comment how you feel about this blog post, as always I’ll see ya’ll next week! 😀

Assignment #3: Are Memes Art?

You cannot go a day scrolling on your phones without finding a meme somehow, somewhere. Internet culture is surrounded by memes and in a way, I think it kind of brings people together. A few of my favorite memes from the internet are shown below:

─── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ───

Are memes art? Well, I definitely think that memes can be considered as art. According to this source, memes have the possibility to fall under the category of Pop Art. Another source also thinks that memes create a space of “creative reflection” while expressing our general thoughts and feelings. I believe that memes should be considered as art because they often convey emotions and feelings. To me, anything that conveys any sense of feeling is worthy enough of being recognized as art.

A gif from one of my favorite shows of all time, Spongebob Squarepants

I honestly think memes are an interesting but fun way of communicating! It is so cool that if I were to send a meme to my friend, they would most likely send their own type of meme in response to mine. Memes are more than just self-expression, they are a way of communicating to others. As stated in the YouTube video that was provided, Tolstoy speaks about internet culture consisting of “movements, lines, color, sounds..” and transmitting that feeling to others so that they experience the same feeling, is the activity of art. Memes could definitely be used for storytelling and many people do so, such as on TikTok, some people use the “picture slideshow” tool and insert memes to tell a story. The great thing about memes is that they could come in different forms, such as an image or GIF.

Here are a few of my own memes that I created for CT101. 🙂

Assignment #3- Are MEME’S Art?

“Are MEMEs Art?”ੈ✩‧₊˚

No, I don't consider MEMEs to be art. Art to me has to have a symbolic meaning behind what's being created or presented. All definitions of art point toward the use of human creativity, skill, and imagination in its creation. Some forms I do consider to be art are writing ( e.g. poems, plays, books), music, drawing, painting, digital,  and movies.  Despite MEMEs being visual forms of content they are not art, MEMEs can offer a cultural lens, and a sense of commentary, in the same way, art does, they divert from art in the respect that they offer no symbolism and are void of emotional impact or intention.

“British historian R.G. Collingwood would say that internet memes are the performance of emotion and it’s not true expressions, making meme makers ranters and ravers and not actual artists.”
If MEMEs were to be considered art they would be the lowest forms of art similar to messaging we wouldn't say that sending a message to someone is art, would we? pop artists try to blur boundaries in an attempt to elevate “low” culture to “high” art. I agree with Kash Jordan's point when he mentions the easy accessibility of MEMEs and digital content is the main reason why MEMEs aren’t immediately considered art or being consumed as fine art.
I think MEMEs being considered art is bad for the art community MEMEs undeniably lack the substance, motivation, and humanity that characterizes art. MEMEs being used instead as a form of communication is good. I think MEMEs are simply forms of self-expression and nothing more because of the lack of creativity with MEMEs. MEMEs follow a certain format and art does not there's so much creative expression that comes with art.
MEMEs can be used for storytelling because the images and GIFs you use can portray what you're feeling and can tell a story much similar to how writing can, MEMEs when used correctly-in a way that flows, can be used to create a visual storytelling technique.

SOME OF MY FAVORITE MEMEs ༊*·˚

Any meme of Drake is just so funny to me his facial expressions.

This Sad Ant meme that went trending on TikTok was so relatable.
This sad boba-eyed hamster joke will always make me laugh the music just ties it together.

ARE MEMES ART? ASSIGNMENT #3.

MY CREATED MEMES:
1. I am always exited for things that stimulates my creative mind!
2. Sorry but not sorry!
3. Sorry professor, I do take this class serious. I just have a busy work schedule, but I am on it!!!
ARE MEMES ART?
I found the following 3 links that are discussing if art are memes followed by my own opinion If I consider memes to be art and discussing different aspect of it why or why not.
1.
According to Opinion on the News Record platform Memes trigger different emotions in people from laughter to sadness and seriousness. These triggers within us allow us to criticize  if we feel connected to these memes or not ,and therefore conclude for that fact we already treat them like art. It was stated as the following: “We remember the good as we would a piece of classical art, and criticize the bad as we would less-than-stellar art. We already treat them like art, so we may as well embrace the fact that they are.”.
2.
According to The PBS Channel they discussed the idea whether memes should be considered as art. The host MIke Rugnetta stated the following agreeing that it is a form of art by saying the following :“People are creating images and sharing them with strangers to communicate their personal experiences? That, my friends, is art.”

3.
This Youtube video is telling us the History of how memes were defined by Richard Dawkins. That is an expression of cultural heritage and human behavior. Though the narrator of this video states that ” Now, cultural ideas that are spread through memes”. explaining memes have now more evolved as inside jokes expressed in digital form over the internet. I don’t agree with the narrator because I think he contradicts himself by stating that this is the way our culture of today now expresses itself, which is a form of a current cultural heritage and how we as humans behave. Nothing has changed, only the platform that is accessible in a much easier way and broader audience due to technology.

MY OPINION ON WHETHER MEMES ARE GOOD OR BAD ART.
with an extra meme for you!
Defining Memes to be good or bad still depends on each individual. It carries to me the same concept as “Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder”. You either get what is expressed in the message to your likeness or don’t like it what is been said or expressed. Therefore, a good or bad judgment about it does not define it to be art but recognizing the expression in the form of imagery that is presented to us as an audience. Whether we agree with that opinion or how it makes one feel.
For example, graffiti or murals on walls can often come with words too and are not necessarily liked but accepted as a form of art in our current society. Memes in my opinion can perhaps be considered being nothing in difference to that but just being expressed in a movable image or seen as a mural on our “digital walls.” This also tells us that it can be used as storytelling because memes are often a response about a subject or event that is going on in our society. Therefore, memes can be considered to be part of an overall story that’s been told in our culture and are continuing a discussing or conversation expressed using digital form.
Considering Memes to be bad or good communication is just like watching a different kind of news outlet to me from a personal individual. The host of a regular news outlet is either giving us good news or bad news today likewise the host of an Meme creator but the only different in this case at least through memes we can have a more transparent idea of how the multiple different people think in our society about a certain topic using a imagery and words that are personal to them. Memes therefor can limit the fact having a news outlet giving us biased opinion what the majority feels or communicates. Memes therefor in my opinion have a more current update of what the mental state truly is in our society considering discussing or responding on different topics.

A Bit of History, Passion & More Practice

Welcome Back!

Here is the class recording from Tuesday 3/5:

OK – its time to dig into a bit of history as we continue practicing, learning and experimenting with our new blogging skills. As you can see, it takes practice, time, revision and also patience.

*Remember, my posts are also examples of the formatting and things that we should include in each post 🙂

(Images, GIFS, Memes, Hyperlinks, Videos – can be made, shared and embedded here)

Let’s dig in ->

Blogging and digital storytelling are two concepts that have been intertwined since the rise of the internet,

Blogging, refers to the practice of writing online, where people share their thoughts, opinions, and experiences through personal or professional platforms.

Digital storytelling, on the other hand, involves using digital media to create and share stories through a combination of images, text, and multimedia.

This week, we will explore a bit of the history of blogging and digital storytelling. I’ll provide a few common case study examples, and offer a fun activity for students to express their passions!

(The assignment details are below)

graphic icons about blogging

 The History of Blogging:

The origins of blogging can be traced back to the early 1990s when the first personal blogs began to appear on the internet. These early blogs were simple online journals where people would share their daily lives and thoughts with others. However, it wasn’t until the late 1990s and early 2000s that blogging became more mainstream.

The rise of blogging can be attributed to the introduction of platforms such as LiveJournal, Blogger, and WordPress (thats Us!). These platforms made it easier for people to create and publish their own blogs. As a result, blogging became more accessible to the masses, and people from all walks of life began to create their own blogs to share their thoughts and experiences with the world.

In the early days of blogging, most blogs were personal in nature. People would share their thoughts and opinions on various topics, such as politics, entertainment, and personal relationships. However, as blogging grew in popularity, businesses and organizations also began to use blogs as a way to connect with their audience.

Today, blogging has become an essential part of digital marketing. Many businesses and organizations use blogs to provide valuable information to their customers and to establish themselves as experts in their industry. Blogging has also become an excellent way for individuals to build their personal brand and to showcase their expertise on a particular subject.

(a brief history of the Internet – 1st Meme / 1st GIF – this is context!)

Case Study Examples of Blogging:

  1. The Pioneer Woman: Ree Drummond, also known as the Pioneer Woman, started her blog in 2006 as a way to share her life on a ranch in Oklahoma. Her blog quickly became popular, and she now has over 3 million monthly page views. Ree has since published multiple books, hosted a cooking show, and even launched her own product line. Her blog continues to be a huge success and has become a primary source of income for her and her family.

2. Mashable: Mashable is a news and entertainment website that covers topics related to technology, social media, and digital culture. The site was founded in 2005 by Pete Cashmore, who began by writing blog posts about social media news and trends. Today, Mashable is one of the most popular websites on the internet, with over 45 million monthly visitors. The site has also expanded to include video content and social media accounts on various platforms. Mashable was acquired by Ziff Davis for $50M on Dec 5, 2017

3. Huffington Post: The Huffington Post was launched in 2005 by Arianna Huffington as a liberal news and commentary website. The site quickly became popular and was acquired by AOL in 2011. Today, the Huffington Post covers a wide range of topics, including politics, entertainment, and lifestyle. The site has won numerous awards and is considered one of the most influential news websites on the internet.

The History of Digital Storytelling:

The concept of digital storytelling emerged in the 1990s, and it involves using digital media to create and share stories. Digital storytelling can be used for a wide range of purposes, including entertainment, education, marketing, and advocacy.

Digital storytelling typically involves combining different forms of media, such as images, text, audio, and video, to create a cohesive narrative. The end result is a powerful and engaging story that can be shared with a wide audience.

One of the most significant advantages of digital storytelling is that it allows people to share their stories in a way that is more immersive and interactive than traditional storytelling methods. Digital stories can be viewed on a range of devices, including smartphones, tablets, and computers, and can be shared on social media platforms or personal websites.

Over the years, digital storytelling has become more accessible to the general public, thanks to the development of tools and software that make it easier to create and share digital stories. This has led to an increase in the use of digital storytelling in education, where it is used as a way to teach students how to express their thoughts and ideas in a creative and engaging way.

Case Study Examples of Digital Storytelling:

  1. Humans of New York: Humans of New York is a popular photoblog that was started by Brandon Stanton in 2010. The blog features portraits of people in New York City, along with short stories about their lives. The blog quickly became popular and has since expanded to include books, a social media presence, and even a TV series. The success of Humans of New York can be attributed to its unique and engaging approach to storytelling, which combines stunning photography with personal stories that are both relatable and inspiring.

2. The New York Times: The New York Times has been a leading source of news and information for over a century. In recent years, the publication has embraced digital storytelling as a way to engage its audience and provide more immersive and interactive content. The Times has used a range of digital storytelling techniques, including interactive graphics, virtual reality experiences, and multimedia features, to tell compelling stories that resonate with readers.

3. National Geographic: National Geographic is a well-known brand that is synonymous with photography and storytelling. The publication has embraced digital storytelling as a way to reach a wider audience and to provide a more immersive and interactive experience. National Geographic uses a range of digital storytelling techniques, including photo essays, videos, and interactive features, to share stories about the natural world and the people who inhabit it.

**Assignment #4 – Blogging about Your Passions!**

A great way to practice and apply your new blogging experiences is through self-expression! What are your passions? What are you passionate about in this world?

Create a new “digital story” by crafting a new blog post about what you are passionate about!

To get started, 1st, you should first choose a topic that you are in fact passionate about! Perhaps it’s a hobby? Sport? Creative expression? A political or social issue? Baking? … etc,

But, What is a Passion? <– READ THIS

2nd, then you should gather images, videos, and other multimedia elements that relate to your passions. This could include images, photos, drawings, audio recordings, GIFS, memes & videos. These things will help give “Context” to your storytelling and help others make a connection and stay engaged.

3rd, Write! Describe your passion(s)! Share your personal stories and reflections! How did you get introduced to your passion(s) -details details details!? Let your personality flow through your post!

And don’t forget to add hyperlinks!

Assignment #3

After looking up “Are Memes Art”, some links I found are

Reddit and TNR.

Memes staying is a good thing for art because it shows creativity. Making it is not an easy process. Think about it like this, it could be a hit or miss depending on what the words say on it.

It’s good for communication due to sometimes instead of sending how you feel through words, you could just send a meme that will explain everything. It could be shared across social media allowing individuals to connect with others who have similar interests/humor.

Memes could be used for story telling, because majority of the time they come from cultural references and for visual purposes. On the web, from what I’ve seen memes are made to cheer people up or make them laugh.  In the article,Are memes the pop culture art of our era?, I agree with the statement ““A successful meme is by definition reproducible, shareable, and recognizable”.

This meme below is a cultural reference to the video about a woman named Sweet Brown and her famous catch phrase ” Ain’t nobody got time for that”. I remember watching the actual video, I was dying laughing.

These are at least 3 of my favorite memes. The first one is from my favorite show “Flavor of Love” showing Tiffany Pollard also known as New York. The backstory is a bit inapropriate for this class format to explain but the way she sits on the bed is a mood.

This is accurate representation of whenever I get my bob silk pressed, I move my head side to side just like the meme presented above.

This is the facial expression I make whenever I see something weird or odd. I’ve been making this face dating back to when I was a young kid.

Here are the memes I created:

.
Once I realized this course didn’t require a textbook cost, I was even more excited to take it.
.
I rewatched the zoom for Tuesday’s class and once I heard the professor say “This is another trick assignment”, I found it to be funny because I’m part of the many who didn’t fully read the last assignment that well, therefore me not including everything.

Assignment #2: Making Our First GIF & GIF Post Narratives!

  1. On the first day of CT101, I thought the Prof. was chill and he had a sense of humor. The class was going to be easy and chill. After all, this class is not like other classes where there are deadlines and the homework would be different because the class is based on media and its tools.

2. I liked hearing about the course because I felt that it could be useful when I want to build an online identity, whether for business or content reasons. It made me feel confused because I was unsure of what the class entailed and how I imagined what the classwork/homework was somewhat different. For example, when reading the course description and mentioning “build an online identity” and “narrate”, I thought of voiceovers through pictures and videos to tell stories. I see I was wrong because instead of voiceovers or showing our faces, we use pictures and videos to express something.

3. Compared to my other classes, CT101 is not heavily lectured or requires a lot of reading. However, since this class is easygoing, it will be easy for me to fall behind. If I give myself deadlines for this class and stick to them, I will be fine. I want to be sure I am caught up with what is happening in class and know how to do my assignments.

4. The creative potentials of this class are learning how to make my edits and incorporate edits and designs to expand on a topic. Overall, I will be capable of creating endless ideas for materials based on social media purposes.

          Giphy (left)                  Imgur (right)

5. Learning new skills that use Internet tools is interesting and would take me some time to navigate. With Imgur, I thought it was straightforward. I felt that way because I was creating a meme instead of a gif. When I realized this, I was lost because I did not know where and how to turn my picture into a gif. With Giphy, it was easier because the site told me that the picture was still a picture and showed me the options to turn it into a gif. From there, I was able to make the gif. I do not know if it is because I did not know how to navigate Imgur, but it seems as if Giphy gives more options to be creative (I have the option to add stickers, effects, and more). Overall, creating my gifs for the first time was surprisingly easy. I went on Google to look for a certain emotion, uploaded the pictures to Giphy, and then turned them into gifs.

6. When I read the article “A Brief History of the GIF, From Early Internet Innovation to Ubiquitous Relic”, the first thing that shocked me was that gifs were created 30 years ago. I thought they were more recent (less than 10 years ago). Jason Eppink stated, “Before, Gifs were dressing up the content” but now “the Gif itself has become the destination”. This quote made me wonder how long gifs will have relevance. It is obvious that gifs are not going anywhere any time soon, but how long until there is an end to them?

Assignment #2 – Making My First GIFS and Post Narrative

Cinnamoroll, my favorite Sanrio character
The history of the GIF dates all the way back to 1987, by a developer named Steve Wilhite. Users wanted to find a way to share a color image file without it taking too much of the computer’s memory. As a result, Wilhite found a solution by using a compression algorithm, along with image parameters like the number of available colors. Thus, the GIF (Graphics Interchange Format) was born and its purpose was to be able to exchange images between computers. Now, GIF plays a vital role in the internet community and can convey messages, emotions, feelings, and movement to people all over the world. I am eager to be creating my own GIFS and incorporating them into my blog post.
I created three of my own GIFS from GIPHY and included it above and below in my assignment (the first GIF at the top of the post, the one at question #3 and #5). I liked using GIPHY better than Imgur, I just think it was easier to use. One small complaint that I have is that GIPHY requires the YouTube video that you use to be 10 mins or shorter. I felt like that made it a bit more difficult for me to find the perfect video of what I needed for my response and then turn that into a GIF. Nonetheless, creating GIFS for this blog post was fun and new for me!
Assignment #2 : Making My First GIFs and GIF Post Narrative
1.) What did you think on the first day of the CT101?
I have to admit, I was very confused as to where the class was located. But on the first day of CT101, I was actually very interested and excited about learning more about this course. This class seemed very easy-going and fun at the same time. I couldn’t wait to use this class as a way to be expressive with my technological skills and interests at the same time!
2.) Did you like hearing about the course and its creative content? How did it make you feel?
I did like hearing about this course and its creative content. It made me feel really happy and relieved in a way, since all my other classes are very intense. I love blogging and to be able to incorporate GIFS, memes, images, videos are all very exciting to me.
3.) How does CT101 compare to some of your other classes so far?
CT101 is totally different from any of my other classes. Firstly, my other classes uses BlackBoard and this course does not. I like that this course has its own website and it does not has the limitations that BlackBoard does. This class does not really compare to any of my classes because this class allows me to be creative and show a bit of my personality through multimedia.
4.) What are the creative potentials of this class?
The creative potentials of this class are endless. I think this class really gives us the opportunity to be experimental with various types of media, such as creating our own GIFS, creating our own memes, and so much more.
5.) How do you feel about learning new skills that use Internet tools?

Learning new skills that use internet tools is a wonderful idea. We are in the modern age where our lives revolve around technology, so I believe that it is great that we utilize the Internet tools and learn new skills that come with it.

Are Memes Art?

I would think memes are art and I will prove with these links that they are art! 😁

https://www.thecrimson.com/column/the-art-of-memes/article/2021/3/9/memes-are-art-column-first-installment/#:~:text=Just%20like%20conventionally%20understood%20forms,they’re%20here%20to%20stay.

https://carlkruse.net/2021/04/05/are-memes-art/

Well well well, these links have proof that memes are definitely art as well as one link that talks about the history of memes and it’s evolution!

It’s honestly good for art because it’s like the person’s expression and emotions on how they feel about someone, something, etc.

Communication wise it really all depends, like friends, family and your significant other definitely it would be helpful for communication but work and/or school maybe not since it’s not professional to send memes or gifs but it still all depends

Memes are for self expressions because it’s like a reaction just like gifs are and how it expresses how we feel, it’s always good to express yourself freely!

Memes can be used for context as well as storytelling because your setting the expressions as well as having a setting of the story that your telling (haha storytelling joke)

The point here I’m making is that memes are art especially when expressing and emotionally feeling relatable to the gifs memes (or memes in general), storywise it can work but it’ll be difficult unless your able to know what to do with meme storytelling.

(I used gifs from https://tenor.com/ as well as https://imgflip.com/ for making the memes using gifs or pictures)

Please leave a comment and don’t be shy to talk to me peoples 😁

Assignment #1 : Internet Happy

I have always seen activities in the city on TikTok. But this week, my friend and I have done some of these activities. For example, we went to SkyScape. We chose the museum/interactive games option. We were able to engage in games that spies would need the skills for such as detecting lies (choosing who lied and who told the truth by learning about body language for when people lie), paying attention to detail (we looked at many security cameras to find specific people/things), agility (pressing as many buttons as we could without setting off lasers), etc. I was happy because I was not in the house as usual. Also, I was able to enjoy myself with someone I cared about. Overall, TikTok has helped me be outside and have fun. In addition, exploring new things that I did not know existed or were available in the city.

Assignment #3 – MeMe’ing-ness

a classic internet meme "all your base are belong to us"

Are Internet Memes ART?

Let’s discuss!

You know that you want to!

Here is the class recording from 2/27:

First – lets screen the video above together and then later read the hyperlinked articles below for more context. (hint hint – > You should re-watch this video outside of class and reference it in your blog post 🙂

Second – The Assignment #3 Details: A New Blog Post is in order!

Memes have become an integral part of the online world, with new memes constantly popping up on social media platforms like Reddit, Tik Tok, Twitter (X), Facebook, and Instagram. But where did these funny images and phrases come from, and how did they become such a popular form of communication? Let’s explore the history of memes and how they have evolved into a unique form of internet communication.

The origins of the modern-day meme can be traced back to the early days of the internet. In the late 1990s, internet users began sharing images and text that had been altered or repurposed in a humorous way. These early memes were often created by hand and circulated on message boards and email chains. The first memes were simple and crude, but they paved the way for the more complex and sophisticated memes we see today.

the infamous dancing baby meme / gif

One of the first internet memes to gain widespread popularity was the “Dancing Baby” in 1996. The Dancing Baby was a 3D animation of a baby that appeared in a television show called “Ally McBeal.” The animation was manipulated and turned into a looping GIF that was shared online. The Dancing Baby became a viral sensation, and its popularity sparked the creation of other memes like “All Your Base Are Belong to Us”

Over the years, memes have evolved into a complex and multifaceted form of communication. Today, memes are often used to convey complex emotions, comment on current events, and even express political views.

Memes are a way for people to connect and communicate online, and they often reflect the cultural and social trends of the moment.

One of the most fascinating aspects of memes is the way they spread and evolve. Memes are often created by one person, but they can quickly be adopted and transformed by others. Memes can go through a process of evolution as they are shared and re-shared, with each iteration adding new layers of meaning and humor.

Assignment #3 – Are MEME’s ART?

Let’s write a new blog post ->

***be sure to re-read the FULL assignment criteria and work along side of it to make sure that you are including all aspects of the assignment***

Start by doing an Internet search for; “Are memes ART?”

See what you discover, gather those website links and share them in your new post. (at least 2-3 should be fairly easy to find)

No matter how you cut it, memes are here to stay… but is this good or bad for Art? Is this good or bad for communication? Are memes simply just forms of self-expression? Or are they MORE? Well, why or why not? I want to know what you think.

Can MEMEs be used for storytelling? If so, How? Explain how they are used in your experience here on the Web. Back up your answers with MEMEs and a statement.

Let’s create a compelling way to share our responses! Remember to pay attention to the good blogging skills list example in last week’s post?

And by all means plan to create, search for, discover and share your favorite existing Memes via an image or URL, or embed them into your new blog post for this coming week. You must share at least 3 of your favorite all time MEMEs in this post.

How will you craft a narrative between using Memes and your own personal experiences?

**Oh, and, you MUST create at least 2-4 of your own memes to express your sentiments for our CT101 class! Be sure to include the words: “CT101” in your meme!

Perhaps, you will say “CT101 be like…”

OR, “What if I told you that CT101….”

All of this nestles quite well into in new Blog post! Please consider the formatting of this blog post that you are reading right now. Notice how we see a mixture of images, video and hyperlinks that help give context and reference to where we are drawing resources from.

Assignment 2

What did you think on the first day of the CT101?

^Me vibing with the atmosphere. Was very much happy to have a break from all the serious stuff, like MATH, and SPANISH…uuh.

Loved the easy-going vibes of this class.

I do admit I got a bit lost when I was looking for 4M03.

When I first heard about the course I initially had no clue what it was about. Kinda still don’t. I was hoping it was a creative course where I could learn how to navigate the intricacies of internet creation like videos. So far the class has met my expectations.

How does Digital Storytelling compare to my other classes? It’s not even something I have to think about about.

I’d immediately drop every other class I have to do this given the choice. That’s how much I already like this class.

The creative potential… so many possibilities… home videos, amateur animations, analog horror, web novels, creepypastas…

There are so many ways to express yourself on the internet that I can’t process it all!

How does it feel to learn new internet skills?

Amazing of course, I now can brag about my new skills to my friends and family.

Stand Proud, CT Digital Storytelling, you have been the best class for me this year so far.

Assignment #2 GIF’s

What did you think on the first day of the CT101?
It happened to me but with CT 205 in the same room.

Tried all the stairs and escalators steps to find M403, me finally getting there, me finding the door closed, me wiping the sweat of my face, me seeing the door closed thanking God I am the first one and am not late, me waiting, me doubting If I am at the right classroom, me refuse to type all this log in detail of blackboard into my phone to see if anything changed, me stubbornly waiting an extra 10 min, aahhh me losing patience and therefor forcing myself to navigate myself unto the annoying blackboard platform, me finding out class got canceled. you-must-be-kidding-me!!!

Did you like hearing about the course and its creative content? How did it make you feel?

What did I got myself into :I

Getting our first assignment, I felt overwhelmed by seeing all the information how to set up my account and having a first assignment without an in-person session. So I had to take a step back, take a deep breath and read things thoroughly in order to apply and survive my first blog post ever!

How does CT101 compare to some of your other classes so far?

I like that I get the space in this class, to kind of figure things out in my own space and time. This class allows me to put my own ideas and creative input into given assignments unless like other classes where there is only one correct input, or answers already predetermined by a book.

What are the creative potentials of this class?

I got this! I will be mastering skills of applying digital art into my storytelling concepts. And finally fulfilling my inspiration of becoming a real blogger and content creator.

How do you feel about learning new skills that use Internet tools?

I am feeling like getting in formation, as I magically hear Beyonce song “formation” on the background manifesting to myself “I just might be a black Bill Gates in the making”.

Assignment #2: Making our first GIFs & GIF Post Narratives !

˚ ༘♡ ⋆。˚  Celebrating 30 years with GIFS.

GIFs have become a key part of our day-to-day digital communication and can be seen in every aspect of social media.  Today GIFs are synonymous with short, looping, animations but GIFs started as a way of displaying still images. In early 1986 Steve Wilhite worked on the Graphics Interchange File Format, and in 1995 created the animated GIF standard. GIFs became a new form of self-expression and that created iconic memes and GIFs that we all recognize and sometimes connect to a certain time in our lives (e.g Grumpy Cat 2012 & Nyan Cat 2011) So we celebrate 30 years of GIFs and we're excited to see more of it in the future.

I am happy to learn about new skills and I hope to take the skills I use from this class to help with my career in journalism.

My Thoughts ✧.*

Giphy was easier to work with than Imgur. Imgur did not allow me to make any GIFs - it repeatedly failed to upload. Giphy was easier to make a GIF but it did take a long time for the GIF to be created and to be downloaded despite it being a short YouTube clip.

Assignment #2 First Impressions

What did you think on the first day of the CT101? The first day of class I was excited at the creative freedom and the breakdown of the things we would be doing in class. I became super excited to see how everything would be put together and look.

This gif is a representative of how I would’ve walked out of class on the first days, only we were online. Movie- Norbit

Did you like hearing about the course and its creative content? How did it make you feel? I had absolutely no idea what this class was about, honestly I wasn’t going to take it but the other class was full by the time I started registering for classes. I felt like I had no choice but to go through with it as it seemed like the alternative, to me.

This gif shows how I neutral but yet nervous about the class. Show- Fresh Prince of Belair.

How does CT101 compare to some of your other classes so far? It is by far my less stressful and fun class. I like the creativity and the use of the internet and really the happiness to willingly complete an assignment.

This Gif represents how I feel knowing I have to complete another assignment. Movie- The Nutty Professor.

What are the creative potentials of this class? The creative potential of this class really is endless. We are using the one thing that makes the world happen right now (the internet) so we can aim high.

Willy Wonka looks like me when I’m thinking about all that can happen in this class.

How do you feel about learning new skills that use Internet tools? Learning new skills to use on the internet definitely makes me feel cooler. Being able to show my friends things that they did not know gives off a sense of awesome.

Rihanna is the perfect reaction to how I feel learning new things.
