The end of the semester is here. This class gave me a memorable experience that no other courses could provide, and I will miss this class deeply.

This class is memorable for many reasons, and I am sure that everyone who took this class throughout this semester knows why. We learned a lot about our creativity, mind, and skill terms on the internet, especially me. I got a lot of information from this class, such as using software/platforms like WordPress, Giphy, and Ds106. These sites, especially DS106, helped me unlock my creativity because there were a lot of ideas provided to me, so it allowed me to mix and match my assignments.

From the start of the class, we explored what we could do and what we needed to improve on through the internet. Answering questions like if memes are art, I never thought about that until the professor gave us that assignment which is one of my favorites. Other assignments that I enjoyed doing would be assignment#5, assignment#11, and assignment#9. I also enjoy doing the rest of the assignments, but not as much as I mentioned. I can say that I improved a lot throughout the semester.

I started by putting no hyperlinks/detailed information and short responses to having a lot of detailed information (knowing how to hyperlink and use memes/gifs to give blog posts an expressive mood so classmates can see how I feel about certain things). After a long time of thinking, I decided not to continue my website after the semester ended because I feel like I am still new even though I learned a lot about website building. I know I can keep going to improve my website, but I don’t think I am ready to go down that path yet since it takes a lot of planning and ideas to make it work. I learned a lot, and I want to use the knowledge I got from this class to improve myself regarding internet design and media. Once I feel ready to continue the website.

Thank You, Professor, and All of my classmates, for giving me a mindset of design and being able to learn a lot of things not just about the internet but about life in general, sharing your guy’s opinions and describing how you got past that challenge gave me the motivation also to keep learning/Pushing. It was cool seeing yall in person every once a month, and the whole Panoramic View lesson was also quite fun. Thanks for Everything.

The website I chose to explore would be Stella’s site. Her website is about memes, and I can tell you guys it gave me a quick laugh. She made her meme while showing me some good ironic memes to show the people how the memes evolved.  I love the layout of her website and how she labeled them to tell us which category these memes belong in.

When it comes to memes, they always should be straightforward, which is what she did; she formatted them where it will be approachable and easy to figure out the picture. I can’t wait till she posts more memes!

It’s fascinating how a single picture can tell an essential meaning to something, and it can tell you a lot. This was a fantastic assignment where we used our creativity to showcase a story through a panoramic view.

For our first picture, I would call this panoramic view fighting back because, on the left, it mainly shows the tall students fighting the little guys, and on the right, the little guys stood up for themselves and fought back against the bullies.  The message is you have to fight back with your strength if someone tries to bully you. (I am the student in the red hoodie :D)

This photo is called “social than media” because, on the left, it tells us that people are dancing/socializing with each other, while on the right, it shows that everyone is paying attention more to their phones than each other. The best to describe this photo would be pre covid vs. post covid because before being isolated for more than a year, we hung out and needed not to worry about a virus but then covid happened. Everyone separated themselves to avoid the virus and invested time on their social media.

First, I went through some themes to see what I would like; I clicked the appearance tab to see the options.

Then I decided to use this theme because there’s red in the design, and that’s my favorite color.

The next thing I did was to put out a background image because having an excellent background will make your theme pop out, making it easier to see and read the text provided. After that, I decided to give my website an icon because it’s an excellent way to represent something and give you an idea of what that might be.

I used this light red as my background color since it’s bright and mixes with my theme’s colors.

From customizing my website, I learned that there are millions of things to choose from when building a website. You can go from gaming to business, and everyone can look at it. I haven’t decided on what to write yet, which I will in the future as soon as I can come up with some topics/ prompts so that everyone can follow.

I have selected VideoGKnow.Com as my domain name. First, I looked through the post to better understand it before doing it, then I clicked the link provided, the reclaim link. I checked to see if some of my domain names were there, but some are taken while others are free, so I decided to go with VideoGKnow.Com. In my previous post, I mentioned that I want to use a website to provide information on specific videos games so people can get someone else’s opinion.

When you click the reclaim link (which takes you here, type your domain name), you will have to fill in some personal information after selecting a domain name. (Don’t forget to use the code sent to your york email).

After filling in your information, you will end up on this page.

They would ask to verify your Gmail that you used (they will send a link for you to click to verify ITS SIMPLE!). after that, you can head to your Cpanel and click on the first box which would be WordPress.
You click the install button, and it will begin installing; word press into your computer.

Overall experience was simple to do, but at the same time, I needed to research further to understand how to do it. I watched back the zoom video that the professor had provided us (Helpful).

These names can relate to me because I always wanted to make a sort of bot website for this app called discord. Discord is just like the other social media platforms which its mainly about gaming/connecting with people. I had discord since 2016 and always used it. In discord, there are bots that people make that make it a game-changer.  An example of a discord bot would be a bot called Chip.  Chip is a bot that people use to listen to music. the purpose of having a music bot is list/play your favorite music with your friends in one place.

What will your new website be about? This part is totally up to you! If you wish, you can use the website project itself for a specific project, for example, perhaps you want to share your passion for cooking and poetry. Which means you will be primarily writing blog posts about cooking and poetry. This can also be applied to sports, or gaming, or politics or journalism, or simply put, website that fused together many interests as well as your ct101 assignments.  Share your thoughts, excitements, fears and any other sentiments about how you are feeling about this next chapter in your life as a website owner! Please include a few hyperlinks and or screen shots of some of your favorite websites, let us know why you like them!  

I plan to make my website about either, as I said earlier, making bots for this specific platform or something related to gaming since I enjoy it very much. Listing games that I would recommend people try out. So it will mainly be a source of information type of website for a specific topic. Youtube is what I always use because of how useful it is. Many people, including myself, enjoy having something to watch to learn or find something entertaining. Another website I like is Imgflip which is a website to make memes. I always like making memes for just the laughs and giggles. Memes are very enjoyable, and making your memes is just as cool as finding memes.

How am I doing in CT101?

At first, I felt like I would fail, but I am doing somewhat ok right now. I am still rather behind everyone else; I let myself go out of control and poorly managed my time. I always let the time get a hold of me and get me to think that I have time, but in reality, time never waits for me.

How many points have I earned so far, and what grade do I believe I am maintaining?
I am not sure how many points I have due to not having a lot of work, but I have started posting and commenting more.  I will keep myself in check and try to maintain an A or B when I get my final grade at the end of the semester. I have been slow and managed the time I had poorly, but I will turn this around.

What have I learned and retained the most?

I have learned a lot of ways to express and customize, including a lot of information as well. That information would be the many websites I obtained throughout this semester at CT 101, such as  https://mmm.page//,  https://assignments.ds106.us/, and https://giphy.com/. I have been experimenting and researching more with these websites to expand my creativity and knowledge of websites.

What new skills have I developed, cultivated, and displayed regularly in my weekly posts?

I started using photoshop more to get used to it to use it more in the future. I have slightly felt like my grammar got a little more substantial from posting blogs since I often double-check to see if my sentences are lined up. I have gotten better when getting ideas due to how many ideas I had to think about for the blog posts.

How do I assess my performance through self-reflection in this class?

I can assess my performance by checking the feedback on my posts so I can edit them to make them better.  If I have trouble doing a blog post, I will look back at the professor’s recording to see if I am in check when it comes to completing the blog post correctly. I can also look at other classmates post’s to help me understand more.

What do I know now that I did not know before taking this class?

I realized that it requires a lot of thinking to get some of these posts done. I know now that they are not easy as I thought they were. I also realized that this is an excellent way to find out who you are. I feel like not many people can express themselves due to the emotions they contain; by typing them out, it’s easier to see what we dislike, enjoy, love, goals, and so on.

Do I see my weekly blogging work expanding creatively? If so, please explain –  or am I stuck in a loop where my posts seem to look the same most of the time? How will I change that?

I feel like throughout most posts, I have been typing more and more just because there’s a lot to talk about when it comes to specific posts. I have started thinking more about the topic, so it gives me more ideas to write about and how to explain them in general.

Are there any assignments that you are missing? If so, list them. Are you commenting regularly on your classmates posts? Are you responding back to comments given to you by the professor & your classmates? Are you participating during the class time? If not, explain why. This is the time to be accountable. How will you make needed improvements?

I am currently missing 7,8,9,10, etc., due to my improper time management and having to do finals projects/Midterms for other classes, and I know that I can always have the time to make these up since there is no due date. I did wrong because I focused on one thing too many things to the point where I get fell behind on other work without realizing it.  I have started to get better at managing my time throughout college and slightly improved. I am slowly making up the work and will get them done.

What are you inspired to do? What are you inspired to make or create?

There’s a video game called Kingdom hearts where the main character Sora loses his friends, so he tries his best to find them. Of course, he gets many roadblocks and dead ends during his journey, but he always gets back up from it. I feel a form of similarity between me and this character because, throughout my life, I always lose confidence and feel like I am spiraling down forever, but I end up getting back on my feet and start climbing up. College can be an example of when I fell behind in everything and had regrets and self-doubt. Throughout that phase, I know that I can’t let my family down, which wakes me up and makes me move. This has been my cycle since high school.

   MMM. Page seemed simple to use and it was easy to understand where everything is.
   I decided to make some form of a short storytelling someone what I can go through. It feels right to me to make a short timeline and have something meaningful for others to understand someone’s view on life. It’s always calm and meaningful to express something visually through the internet. It’s not only me that is going through something like this. People worldwide feel like they are falling behind in school or life.

    Assignment #4- DS106 I decided to do this for the first assignment.
How I went about it is that first, I started with a bob ross painting

How I did this is that first, I opened up photoshop 
then I proceeded to upload the two images to photoshop

From there, I first outline the bird with the object selection tool
To place the bird photo onto the landscape photo so they can be within the same layer. After fusing them, I wondered what it would look like if I had removed some colors, which resulted in a lovely white/black photo, but I also experimented by removing other stains. This painting has three listed (Green, Red, and Blue).

By removing some of the colors, I got these results.
And, of course, counting the one I showed on top of the post. Doing this assignment made me realize how fun it can be as a project because it will show us the importance of color and what they mean. In a painting, color can represent many things, from emotion to its look. If we were to do this to other images or photos, we could see a different meaning by removing color or features to it to see a different result.

I found a design assignment project for the second part of this assignment. I have some skills when it comes to this but not enough to complete it. I believe I can learn more from watching youtube videos which will give me ideas and inspiration to do the project. It would be a fun project because people can put more of their minds into it and customize their teams if they want to, giving them free space.

Are Memes Art?

When I first saw this question, “Are memes considered art” I realized how similar both could be. I use memes and make memes whenever I get the chance to put a smile on someone’s face or to give a funny response. In my opinion, I consider memes art because some people put out something more into their memes. Many people say that judging how the meme is created is a form of art. I agree with that statement, but I believe people could put emotion without noticing.

People can willingly share their emotions in their memes; the same can go with art. it’s alarming how people can put a feeling within a picture. In general, isn’t that awesome! The art and meme can express the same amount of emotion and thoughts to make someone smile. As someone who makes memes, it’s so cheering when you can put a feeling into it to make a form of character so people would understand.

I would say that out of all websites. I use Youtube the most. Youtube isn’t only known as a platform for entertainment, and I would say that it helps us find information about a topic that we want to research or learn about. Youtube enables you to discover what things you enjoy by just looking up what you like and the community you want to be in (content creators).

Another website I use daily is a meme generator site called Imgflip. It lets you make your memes, and it gives you many templates for you to use to put your text and photos to make your memes how you like them. It’s good to explore different templates to see what you like best!!!

What did you think on the first day of CT101?

On my first day of CT101, I was curious about what the course would offer in terms of skill and materials. I was interested from the beginning because I heard this course is fantastic, and since that statement, I got even more curious and couldn’t wait till the class started.

Did you like hearing about the course and its creative content? How did it make you feel?

I logged into my first day of CT101, which was interesting to me, but I also realized how this course would be a fun experience because it would allow me to try new things, making me look forward to upcoming classes and projects.

How does CT101 compare to some of your other classes?

CT101 gives you more freedom and a calm mindset compared to other classes. It’s a course that provides you and your mind to express your ideas and feelings in good yet funny ways. CT101 is what brings our creativity to the fullest. 

This class will provide us with the knowledge and information to help us learn then master the arts of design through technology. This course will also make us tap into our more creative sides and think of ways to design something.

How do you feel about learning new skills that use internet tools?

Skills that use internet tools will help me expand my knowledge about computers and software. This time around, people worldwide use the internet to communicate, research, shop, etc., in their daily routine, which is why it is very important to stay up to date and learn as much as possible.
