CT101 Final Blog Post/ Zia Shadi

Hello CT101 My fellow classmates, this is my final blog post for this course. I want to reflect on everything I did so far for this course and display some of my best work with the assignments and projects. This class really helped me in the learning process, and being creative really enhanced my ability to create some of the best masterpieces I have ever done in my life. Before taking this course, I just thought it would have assignments, quizzes, and exams. However, Prof. Ryan made it extremely helpful for us to just learn and improve on our creativity using the internet.

NOW I will like to use my mid-semester recap to help me complete my final blog for CT101.

Please let me walk through each week of learning new tools and working with various assignments. The first week I worked on Assignment #1 – What Makes You Happy on the Internet? In this assignment, the task was to share media, images, and links to get my feet wet on content. I struggled with hyperlinks however I learned how to use them efficiently and became good at using them.

Assignment #2 – Making our first GIF & GIF Post Narratives! I was very skeptical about creating GIFS at first but understanding the creativeness of editing and seeing the connection I was trying to make felt really enjoyable using the website “GIPHY“. Sharing GIFs and creating them for text writing felt really important because he allowed me to give out certain information.

 Assignment #3 – Memes? Art? I was able to story tell using Memes let me be honest at first I felt weird because of my opinions on Memes as a whole of it not being considered “Art” however understanding the new ways of communication through image and text can be more comfortable using them now.  In this assignment, I was introduced to the websites Imgur and Make A Meme these sites played a huge part in for me to create Memes for my blog.

Assignment #4 – Digital Storytelling Project Flexibility this assignment was probably the longest to complete. Working with the DS106 Assignment Bank to pick two projects, for me I did the code assignments and wanted to learn Design Assignments specifically the Sports Poster.  For this assignment, I worked step by step process and showed off my code for the end result. I was able to create a small math guessing game for the “Make A Simple Program”.

Assignment #5 – Digital Art & Creative Immediacy this assignment is very recent, we had to style and work on defining the meanings of Creativity + Intuition + Immediacy =… I had to really think a lot about what to do this assignment tested my imagination. Being able to create a webpage and design it was very fun. The main source of doing this assignment was using the mmm. page on the web browser which was really helpful. I got to use and learn how to create a webpage design with links to other websites. Linking videos on the page and showing the features of tab buttons. Before CT101 I have never worked with creating Memes and GIPHY almost everything is new to me as far as the creation of the contents!!! At this point, I feel like I have improved on creativity and created different content information.

The second half of CT101 was a bit harder for me I had to spend some time catching up with my other classes and real-life problems hit but we got through it I would like now tell you about the journey of the 2nd phase of this course.

Assignment #7 – It’s Time to Pick a Domain Name, we had to pick out a domain name for our website, I created a list that had some great examples for the name of my website one of the names I moved forward was ZSports.com. Also in this assignment, I got to display some of my favorite websites I visit every day.

Assignment #8: Domain Name Registration, Hosting Set-Up & WordPress Installation! In this week’s blog post I had the chance to explain the process of creating a Domain Name, registration, Hosting, and Setting up the WordPress Installation. First I had the chance to choose a domain name that has to be able to use due to it being already registered. I had a series of names I wanted to put but for my website, I chose Zsports2022.com which was available.

Assignment # 9: The WordPress Customizing Series, Part 1, I basically started my customizing my websites by choosing the theme “Twenty Twenty”,  adding a logo, and creating the About page and Contact. I was exploring my options with different editing tools and colors and watching video tutorials really helped me start editing my website.

Assignment #10: Exploring the WordPress Potentials, Part II! For this assignment I created my first blog post “Dear Fellow Readers – I just published a new blog post here on my website: http://zsports2022.com please come and check it out and feel free to engage in some fun dialog. Thanks so much”.

Assignment #11: Panoramic Storytelling & Multiplicity, for this assignment I was able to tell a fictional story also connecting the panoramic images that I took at the movie theaters.

Assignment #12: Share your Website’s URL & Some Social Media Fun, for this assignment I had the pleasure of exploring and discovering some of the websites my classmates created, which were amazing to see. It was great communication by looking at each other’s work and making helpful comments on how our websites looked.

This class CT101 has been really the most enjoyable class for me this semester. I feel like I have learned many tools and mainly I enabled myself to express myself on the Internet. I never thought blogging was going was too fun, it always felt like a boring task however CT101 changed that perspective for me. It helped me become creative which I felt I never tried to enhance myself to try to be. I was able to create a website on WordPress using my own domain name which is truly amazing. I have created two blog posts on my website using GIFs and Memes which I felt were the main roots of the tools we used in CT101. In the real world, I would like to maybe use my new skills in freelancing to create websites using WordPress and create Memes, and use GIFs that are reliable for art.

I don’t know if I can maintain my new website because I want to pursue my career in Software Developing so I may not have that much free time to spend on my website but I would like to try to keep my domain name and my website to be available. Maybe I can blog about my new experiences in the nearest future.

OK, guys. Now I would like to show you my new website, zsports2022, and give you a tour of it.

On my “Home” page,  all of my latest posts will be displayed with content that also connects the 2 main categories for me, which are gaming and sports. These are the main sections I would like to cover only on this website. I created a logo and came up with a slogan, which I put near the logo to show the viewers and give them an understanding of what my website is.

This is the footer section of my website. This is where I explain what to expect on my website and my location where they can try to contact me if I’m in my office. This footer section is at the bottom of every single page on the website. I wanted to make sure my viewers see what my website has to offer.

It’s really important to add an “About” page because I want the viewers to know about me and what my motive is for creating this website

On my “My Blogs” page, I added a subsection with more blogs to come, as you can see from the drop-down button. I will be posting more blogs on this page, but it will be based on how much free time I have and I’m still thinking about what to do with this page. I might use outside content or show research or various articles relating to the health benefits of sports and video games.

My “Contact” page is pretty simple. I added my email where viewers can contact me and ask me questions. I added Twitter as my social media content where they can see, interact with me, or tweet me. The other link is via email, where my email is also linked with it. For Twitter currently, I put the York College Twitter handle. When the viewers click the bird icon, it will take them to the York College Twitter page.

This is my “Gaming” page where all the gaming blogs and content will be. As you can see, I have Gaming as one of my categories because my home page has blogs, and also those same blogs will be on the Gaming page. This page is hard to contain because the gaming industry is growing day by day and the content can be diverse between casual gamers and competitive gamers. For me, it’s hard to choose what I want to continue on my website, whether I want to talk about the games themselves or the professional side of it.

This is my “Sports” page where all my sports blogs and content will be displayed, which is also another important category I have added, which will help me have my posts on my home page and also viewers can access them on the sports page. Sports as a whole are really huge. For me, it’s difficult to choose what sport to talk about, and also, I question whether I can make it sound interesting. Sports topics are cool and there are debates on who is the best of all time in that specific sport, or we can look at who’s the best sportsperson ever.

The last page on my website is the “Advertise Page” which contains blog advertisements. It shows links and other websites that help advertise our blogs, and it’s a great tool to know and understand. I don’t know If I want to pursue leaving this page on my website, it’s a decision I will like to make in the future. However, now it’s fine to keep on there.

CT101 is one of the best classes I have ever taken in college, It has been a heck of a journey learning a lot of new things on the internet and tools. I personally want to thank Prof. Ryan for being a great professor for teaching us these cool things and for being understandable. We just could’ve had boring exams and assignments, but Prof. Ryan allowed us to be free and express ourselves to become creators on the internet. The main concept for me is becoming more creative, and CT101 taught me that. With the great feedback from Prof. Ryan on each of my assignments, I really feel like I deserve an A or even an A+ grade just because I was able to fix my assignment post and respond and communicate back with the professor. With the assignment requirements and giving feedback to classmates, I feel like I can get that higher grade.

Share your Website’s URL & Some Social Media Fun

Hey guys this is the Last Assignment before the final blog, it’s been a wonderful fast journey, to say the least.

For this assignment, I had the chance to discover some of my classmate’s websites.

The first website I visited and left a comment on is Duojay’s website  https://madeinyourlikeness.com/ The main slogan on the website is “Dive into the inner world”, I thought that for a minute. In the Inner world everything that occurs in our minds, such as our thoughts, emotions, feelings, beliefs, and so on, whereas in the Outer world is our physical reality and the situations and circumstances that occur to us.  He wants to display to reflect on things from his perspective with animation art and space.

SPACE IS IMPORTANT for the outer world!!!

The study of the cosmos provides us with a significant shift in perspective. We gain context for comprehending our own world when we learn about what exists beyond it. Examining the other planets in our solar system and beyond reveals that Earth is a valuable refuge for life. It’s interesting because our perspective and opinions on space are expandable there are much research and information in today’s life system. We can look at Elon Musk SpaceX and Jeff Bezos’s Blue Origin spaceships going into the outer world. The blogs about space can include many interesting facts and opinions which can be expanded and researched for years to come.

Another classmate’s website that interested me in their post was Stella’s website URL- https://aquicklaugh.com/

Stella’s website displays the work of our CT101 course and combines it with her own humor. It’s creative and impressive to see the improvements in how we progressed through the journey of creating Memes and GIFs. Personally, I learned to respect the creativeness of Memes and GIFs, I felt it is overused and not art. However, the work of creating and trying to be creative and making an image or a trend of real-life situations humorous. It can be a challenging feat to accomplish with Memes and GIFs because either you make it great or your work and it has no meaning to it.

ICONIC MEMES are used in our daily life we can express and create almost anything to get a reaction from them. This website has great potential for creativeness and humor that can reflect in our lives. Maybe a person who might have a bad day can come across this site and find some humor and it might lighten them up. Great work !!!

In this post, I will tell you a story. Using the Panoramic image I took!!!

Jamaica Multiplex Cinemas, when the RKO Alden Theatre closed in the 1980s, this theatre reopened on May 17, 2002, as part of the new Jamaica Center. The Valencia Theatre, one of the Loew’s Wonder Theatres, was once located in Jamaica, which had nearly twenty theatres. It has Neighborhood movie house with multiple digital screens, stadium seating & expanded concessions. For years I would come to watch movies on release nights entertainment to the fullest. Dr. Strange the movie came out today its only two shows left I must try to make it to the 3:00 PM show because if it’s too late I will not finish my project assignment due at 11:59 PM.

Its 2:40 PM I’m driving to the theater as fast as I can, I must find parking first and also, I had to purchase the ticket for the movie. Guess what happens it ….

Yes, it was raining, lucky I had an Umbrella….

10-minute left till the movie starts I rush to the counter to buy the ticket; The lady tells me sorry tickets are sold out for this show and there are no seats available.

It was sad to not be able to go in and watch the movie on time and I was frustrated at myself for being too late and last-minute decisiveness. I felt hopeless and regretful to making it so fast in the rain and wasted my time coming here so fast. As I walk towards the elevator, I see my friend Angel my classmate from my previous college. I say, “Hey how are you” he says, “Hi and says his in a rush to scan his ticket for the movie, I quickly tell him “Enjoy the movie” he says “did you watch it already” I said “No I was trying to purchase the ticket but they are filled seats and all are sold out. He told me “Hey don’t worry come with me I will get you in, my girlfriend bailed on me because she couldn’t make it due to the rain, I can scan her ticket for you”.

WOW I GOT TO WATCH THE MOVIE !!!

Hello, guys in this week’s Assignment I will explain and show my website!!! HELLO GUYS!!!

The WordPress Customizing Series, Part 1

First thing first I started with editing the site title which took me time to come up with!!! The logo that I used was from the internet.

Then I edited the “What to expect on here” section on my ABOUT PAGE.

I felt it would be easy to keep the default content from my theme and just edit from there…

Next will display my information where I am located, I used the York College address as my default to make it more secure for my website and not reveal my real location.

The next thing I did was edit the About page!!!

ABOVE IMAGE shows that the content I want to display such as using Sports and Video Games, my website will have blogs and posts that will revolve around the current trend of each of these things that will have my own personal experiences with them.

Contact Information SET!

For me, this is just the start of the WordPress process, In the next assignment, I will add more Information and create my own categories and add pages.

 

 

 

 

In this week’s blog post I will explain the process of creating a Domain Name, registration, Hosting, and Setting up the WordPress Installation. First I had the chance to choose a domain name that has to be able to use due to it being already registered. I had a series of names I wanted to put but for my website, I chose Zsports2022.com which was available. I want my website to focus on sports and also gaming with personal experience. For me, it’s basically moving ideas of creating blogs and following the current trends of both the pastime activities. I  went on and followed the tutorial thanks to Prof.Ryan  I was able to use the promotional code to create the domain name and website to be official.

It’s OFFICIAL! the hosting is registered and the code really helped thanks thanks to Prof.Ryan once again.

 

Using WordPress was really interesting and able to have access to WordPress is really helpful because it will only benefit me to create a website that has tremendous content. I have installed WordPress the domain was connected and I had the chance to make it easy for myself to be able to use Email and PW as the same as the reclaim hosting.

This is the first preview of my website!!! Satisfaction of seeing “Hello World!”

The Admin point of my website really looks fascinating, I couldn’t imagine it being the same as our CT101 class website. I am appreciative of being able to use the features we use to blog on our class website and take it to the next level of my own website and design. THE START OF A NEW EXPERIENCE!!!

I was able to edit the website and go into a little bit of designing and adding a logo and some text onto the webpage.

THE LOGO is added and WordPress is set. I am using the Twenty Twenty theme and my customization is in the process.

Hello, guys It’s time to pick a Domain Name for my website. But however, I need to fully understand the process and the true meaning of what a Domain Name is?  domain name is a string of characters that identifies a realm of administrative autonomy, authority, or control on the Internet. Domain names are used in a variety of networking contexts as well as for application-specific naming and addressing.

Ok the tricky part for me is to pick the domain name for my website. Names can be a struggle for me because I’m not that creative with creating cool website names so this domain name creation for me can be a struggle and I will try my best to come up with a few that may be interesting.  But however, I felt the need to go with what I know best and enjoy is Gaming and Sports

 

One of my favorite websites I visited almost every day is ESPN.com one of the core websites of sports following cable companies, I usually use the APP to view all scoreboards and news of all the pastiming sports.

So I thought to myself why not use one of my domain names to be ZSPN.com and replace the E with Z because of the first letter of my name.

 

Another website I like is Youtube without which I can’t access the information that I need, this is the place for me to watch all of the videos that are valuable to me and is a site that shows things and creative adventures of life. I would like to create something like a Youtube website and display gaming and sports blogs with some kind of video feature.

Twitter is up there for me because of the daily events of news, sports, and politics. This is the place that has everything. I like to have friendly debates by tweeting back and forth with people around the world on certain matters that involve sports and politics and especially sports

I feel like my performance so far is up to mark and getting feedback from Prof.Ryan after my completion of every assignment. Getting the heads up on the content!!!

At this point, I feel like I have improved on creativity and created different content information. I try to not use similar GIFs and Memes very often it’s basically the requirement that composes all of my blogs.

As of the midpoint of the semester, I feel like all of my assignments are complete so far, I have been interacting with my classmate’s posts and reading their post to better mine.  I have edited all of my posts so far according to the wonderful feedback from Prof.Ryan.  Interacting with classmates has been an important aspect and pivotal for this class because we do need to learn from each other and guide one another.

Hello CT101 class:

Creativity is defined as the proclivity to generate or recognize ideas, alternatives, or possibilities that may be useful in problem-solving, communication with others, and entertainment for ourselves and others. Allows us to create our own information and share it with people that may appreciate our work and ideas.  We find that connection with things and combined them to create a perfect match of information and problems to overcome obstacles.

Immediacy is the ability to draw one into direct and immediate involvement with something, creating a sense of urgency or excitement. For me, current events in the world are the trends of things that are being used that make me excited to venture on. My habit is to follow the trends quickly or even get work done last minute it becomes an Immediacy for me to complete some tasks.

Intuition is a process that allows us to know something without using analytical reasoning, bridging the gap between the conscious and nonconscious parts of our minds, as well as instinct and reason. I know what’s right or wrong so It is easy for me to decide on what to do in a situation.

My next step is to use mmm.page I feel like I’m ready to create something because I feel fresh in the mind and in the moment or not let’s find out!!!

My first page uses Prof. Ryan Seslow’s created GIPHYs which is really cool!

In order for me to create the content of my page, I needed to use the tool Pixabay. To use an image to create the background of the web page. My page includes Soundcloud which I use for my music, I embedded a Youtube video into my page, I provide a link to the page to visit the YT channel. A codepen link to some of the various coding languages displays a demo.  It was fun to work with the links of using Twitter and Instagram.

My mind and heart of being creative are fulfilled but still more to improve on. Practice makes me better and using these new tools to help me be creative and express myself is tremendous!!!

For this week’s assignment, we will use the DS106 Assignment Bank

WOW! this looks cool we have the option to work on 11 different  assignments that involve the likes of “project prompts that are categorized by a variety of media types (visual, design, audio, video, mashup, writing, fanfic, and animated gifs”.)

I have chosen the code assignments even though I still struggle with the coding languages. With the experience of taking a C++ class before maybe it’s time to showcase what I can do.  The project assignment I will work on and show the steps to is the “Make A Simple Program”

 

Coding, also known as computer programming, is the method by which we communicate with computers. Code instructs a computer on what actions to take, and writing code is analogous to writing a set of instructions. You can tell computers what to do or how to behave much more quickly if you learn to write code. You can use this skill to create websites and apps, process data, and do a variety of other interesting things.

Why do we need coding? For the future, we all have hopes, dreams, and plans. Whether you’re looking for a new job, want to improve your current one, or simply want to try something new, coding can help you get there. And keep in mind that anyone can learn to code!

For my assignment, I chose to use Dev-C++ is a full-featured C and C++ Integrated Development Environment (IDE) for Windows platforms. Millions of developers, students, and researchers use Dev-C++ since the first version was released in 1998. It has been featured in dozens of C++ and scientific books and remains one of the favorite learning tools among universities & schools worldwide.

I created a simple program game called “Guess My Number”. My screenshots will display the code of lines and the result of the finished product. 

 

The project assignment from the  DS106 Assignment Bank that I would like to try and learn, is the Design Assignments specifically the Sports Poster.  Posters serve several purposes in the promotion of your sporting event. You can intrigue people’s interest with large, eye-catching posters before the game and raise player awareness with posters at the event. Posters can also alert people to concessions during the game. Your idol may have these posters of their favorite players on their room walls and admire them. It creates a motivational connection between the players and the people.

I feel like we are very limited of time but two projects at most for me will be fine to do. As you can see, I have displayed some coding programs for which I am still struggling as a coder. For me, it’s a hate and love situation with coding because if there comes an error then you must spend hours on it to get it to work which is the annoying part. As for the designing assignment creating a digital poster looks to be a slight challenge and also seems to be fine.

After 2 wonderful weeks of CT101 class, I come across Memes. I’m not a fan of them and never became comfortable sharing them or creating them myself.

Memes are not good for Art,  let me explain;

Although memes are a visual medium, they are not art forms. Memes are not art; if the meme was ever an art form, the generic replication of the meme format has resulted in a blanket exclusion of memes as a category of art, in my opinion. Though memes, like art, can provide a cultural lens and a sense of comments, they differ from art in that they lack symbolism and are devoid of emotional impact or intention.

I would like to change my perspective on the communication level of Memes, which have some aspects of visual representation on the internet. Memes can be good for communication for instance, Memes are a way for people in our society to share their thoughts, feelings, humor, and ideas in general. We are attracted to memes because they are relatable, and the audience thrives on things to which they can relate. In our society, memes are a form of communication. To connect to each other in form of relatable sources and life experiences. If Memes help influence people in a positive way then it’s a great way of communication. 

Memes were defined as “an element of a culture or system of behavior passed down from one individual to another through imitation.” Memes in today’s world manifest as viral images or videos, and they can be political, satirical, or comical, and they make entertainment and global news more relatable – particularly to millennial consumers. They can range from amusing cat pictures or photoshopped celebrity images to more serious videos about bullying. Memes, in addition to being intended to make us laugh, can identify a common feeling, experience, or opinion. It shows a great example of having forms of self-expression. Allowing users to release a content image to connect with the internet through a trend.

The limitation of social media is that the text limit makes it difficult to write a complete narrative. Because a narrative is constrained by the number of text readers engage with on social media, visual storytelling dominates the storytelling process. Memes, gifs, funny videos, and humorous captions are all examples of funny visuals.

What did you think on the first day of the CT101?

Well, I thought it was going to be an intense boring class filled with information regarding exams. But however, after the first day of CT101, I felt extremely happy knowing I would learn to express myself using the internet and working with GIFs.

Did you like hearing about the course and its creative content? How did it make you feel?

I am extremely excited because Memes and Gifs are the new trends of fun on the internet. It can also test us on how creative we can be. Before signing up for this course there was a different feeling of anxiety thinking it’s the same basic course but seeing the content and opportunity to be able to create content I am jubilated.

How does CT101 compare to some of your other classes?

NO COMPARISON! after the first day of CT101 I already rank it #1 class in my book

What are the potentials of this class?

Getting to work with a generational tool like GIFs and IMGUR. Creating content, sharing it with others to express my feelings on certain matters also, content can be competitive because students view the Thursdays classes work also. When viewing multiple students’ work can help me create my post. When viewing some students’ work can motivate me to do as much or even better because sometimes, we have to push ourselves for perfection.

How do you feel about learning new skills that use Internet tools?

GIFs can help boost the effectiveness of your social media and content marketing. Things I like to do on the internet!

First of all, I like to use the internet because it is the most essential part of our life currently. Without it, we can’t even access our school information. We cant search for any issues or solve any problems without the internet in today’s world.

I use Youtube to search for videos on solving certain issues related to education and real-life situation problems. Vlogs of traveling and foods around the world.
