Mid-Semester Reflection

1. in CT101, I do not have a clue of what grade should I get. I am behind in all the posts, the class already is doing the own pages and I am stuck in week 7. I wanted to be always at the right time, but one day that couldn’t go to class and at work star putting more work hours at my schedule, I was happy because I need the money; but my grades would be affected, I knew that. To be honest, I was careless because this is the one class that gives freedom to the student, I did not want to abuse that freedom.

me when i have to do anything:

2. Thanks to this class, I have learned to use some apps that I never thought that I will use. For example, the 3D builder, that I use for the assignment of week 6.  it was difficult to use because I know nothing about those apps, but playing around I find it entertained. I did many attempts because I did not know how to correct my mistakes and how to manage the movement of the objects, it was a difficult app to use, so I just show in my post the one that looks good.

I use the 3D builder ↓↓

3. I do not know if I am skilled at it but I can say I am getting better. This is my first time doing context for blogs. I do not like to share what I write with others if I write something is for myself; my problem is that when I write at the moment I think that they seem normal, but when after a week I decide to read it again is full of mistake and embarrassing stuff. but since in this class we have to write a lot I got used to seeing those things and do not feel like I want to erase everything. so I am getting better at writing posts.

4. My performance in this class is not the best, I never participate in classes, is still difficult to ask or share ideas. but I try my best with my post to compensate for my performance in class.

5. before taking the class I knew about memes and gifts, however, I never tried to make one myself.  I am not into making them, but I enjoy just watching them. People that make memes are people with a great sense of humor and is really surprising how 99 % of the time the memes mention stuff that had to happen to me or stuff that I think but I do not share.

6. all my post look the same, and  I do not know what to change the.

Mid-Semester Reflection

How am I doing in CT101? What grade do I believe I am maintaining?
Well currently it isn’t the middle of the semester anymore, but without a doubt my i still have a response prepared as to how i am doing. I am currently a couple weeks past due on this assignment and recovering from some personal illnesses. I just barely recently finished my graduation exit paper but I feel a ton of weight lifted off my shoulders.

While I still have a few other assignments on my to due list that I have to catch up to I am honestly glad that they mainly pertain to this class. In correlation to my current grade in this class I believe knowing the current works missing my grade isn’t one to be proud of.

What have I learned the most? What is my greatest learned asset in this class so far?

In all honesty the thing I learned the most was the creation of Gifs. The world is currently still struggling to survive from the Pandemic so school is still mainly virtual. I feel the greatest asset i reacquired from this class was communication and laughter. I’ve never made a Gif before. I only watched and enjoyed other people’s work. Throughout this pandemic I’ve been plagued with homework and papers, draining me from happiness and socialization. While i have learned a ton it’s refreshing to actually be given homework based on our feelings, emotions and joys.

What skills have I developed , cultivated and displayed regularly in my posts?

There are a couple of skills I’ve developed and flourished within this class including Hyperlinking, GIF creation and image reformatting. While all these skills may seem fairly noobish, I never knew how to do this. I used to think cropping an image was all there really was to reformatting, oh how i was wrong. There is alignment, different resolution through file extensions, linking that image to other media, scaling etc. There is definitely a lot I may be forgetting, but this knowledge only grows, allowing me to build on the little skills I’ve learned.

How do I assess my performance through self-reflection in this class?

If i had to assess my performance, i think i’m fairly catching up just not there yet. I think the best is yet to come, so i don’t think assessing my performance just yet would be sufficient. I think I can best unveil my potential and development through the website creation we are currently working on. There I will have work that is more presentable and enjoyable to the viewers.

What do I know now that I did not know before taking this class?

Previously mentioned i now know how to format Images, create various Gifs, navigate the commons, and customize/ publish web media.

Do I see my weekly blogging work expanding creatively? If so, please explain –  or am I stuck in a loop where my posts seem to look the same most of the time, how will I change that?

I will not be satisfied until I see my blogging creatively evolving. My goal is to project my visions and artwork onto another mind that can enjoy viewing it and be inspired. I do not feel I am even close to that level of blogging yet but I think I can take the next step by evaluating and following dreams that i used to love, some of which died when starting my academic career. To list a few, I recently found a love in overlanding; where I would use my own off road recreational camping vehicle to scale untraveled terrain and share my experience of outdoor cooking, nature, and sights through blogging and media.

Hyperlinked is the link to the video above, it’s a really good over landing video.

Moreover I used to really enjoy painting, and there are some days I have spare time to kill, so why not? Simply finding who I am and what keeps the flame in me going can evolve my blogging.

Project Flexibility

The first prom that I choose is something that I think I can do, not perfect, but I like to do it.

I started with the small things on the first floor. this is a house for just one person.

then I found that instead of use rectangles for the couch, table, or anything inside; I can insert the object:

I couldn’t insert much stuff because the app did not have it. But the table, lamp, and sink are from the app.

The first fool is petite. The kitchen and living room are in one rectangle, the same as the bedroom and bathroom.

I am not really good at creating stuff without reference, so I had a hard time thinking about doing it.

Is a very simple design, I just had to put together pictures from Pinterest and add the letters saying Happy Earth Day.  For this, I had to use two apps sketchbook from windows, Pinterest, and PowerPoint. I use PowerPoint to take out the backgrounds.

I had fun doing both projects.

My New Website: Mono Pillowtalk

That’s right, Mono Pillowtalk is the name of my new website.

When I wrote the post about potential domain names, I sort of doubted that any of the potentials would actually stick. However, the words”mono pillowtalk” stuck with me because of what they represent. “Pillow talk”, which is usually used to describe an intimate conversation, in bed, between two lovers, will in this case be an intimate conversation with oneself.

I intend to cover topics that one typically suppresses or ignores, that I have silenced, in a creative way. What will be unique about it, is that it will be matters one usually address only to themselves or their therapists, or when up late at night unable to sleep. You know, the troubling thoughts and truths.

I want my website to be mostly creative writing, but there will be a twist. I have other passions that I want to incorporate either as pages or categories, such a music, Tumblr, art, and poetry.

Yeah, that all sounds good to me. So, lets do it.

P.S there’s nothing on the website just yet.

ASSIGNMENT #6 : MID SEMESTER REFLECTION

I feel live overall in CT101 I’m doing okay. I feel as if I’m not as creative or as motivated this semester as everyone else is with their posts and that’s simply because a lot happened for me this semester mentally including a family death. I haven’t been as consistent with my posts but I know for sure the semester isn’t going to end and I don’t complete all 14 assignments required for this class. I hope that I’m able to at least pass the class with a  C+. What I learned the most from this class is that doing an assignment doesn’t always have to be so strict and by the book to receive good results what I love personally about this class is that it allows me to write my posts to my freedom and my creativity. It’s like a little freedom compared to my other classes. The skills I’ve developed in this class is pushing my creativity and coming out of my comfort zone with trying things and doing things that I usually wouldn’t even think of doing especially with memes. My goal for the next few weeks is to try to push my creativity with my posts in this class.

ASSIGNMENT #5 : PICKING A DOMAIN NAME

MY DOMAIN NAME IS : breesbrunch.com and on this site I will be giving advice to new vegans on how to transition into veganism , recipes, selling food items , and more. I actually have a vegan food catering business called “BREE’S BRUNCH” and I wanted to create a site soon anyways so this just saved me the time. I’m excited to educate you guys on everything vegan and show you guys that eating healthy and harm free can be good if you season it right of course and follow instructions.

THIS IS AN EXAMPLE OF ONE OF MY FAVORITE VEGAN SITES :

ASSIGNMENT #4 : DIGITAL STORYTELLING PROJECT FLEXIBILITY

THESE ARE THE TWO ASSIGNMENTS I CHOOSE :

Auditory Hell

THIS IS THE RESULTS OF ONE OF THEM:

AUDITORY HELL

In this video I combined sounds I don’t like which is chalk screeching, fire truck and/or cops sounds, people chewing loudly , and squeaky noises. The reason why I choose this assignment to do as annoying as it was to hear these sounds is because regardless if I like it or not the reality of the world we live in reminds us that we’re going to have to deal with people we don’t like , things we don’t like , and sounds we don’t like especially to get a job done so I thought I’d push myself to do something out of my comfort zone since that’s things I will have to get used to doing regardless. I think we should do at least 3 of these assignments a semester to push us out of comfort zones and to evolve as a creator. I feel like these assignments will not only provide academic growth but mental and emotional growth as well in the sense of bringing up your confidence to try new things and test your capability with things out of your comfort zone as well.

SECOND ASSIGMENT:

Sounds Around Me

How I’ll be using my new website going forward

So far I haven’t posted anything new on my website, but other than the work for this class I think ill just be posting anything that interest me at that moment in time. One post may be about sneakers then the next about topics like sports or games or debates about music and society who knows the possibilities are endless we’ll just have to see in the future.idk

Aaron Swartz

Who was Aaron Swartz?
Aaron Swartz was a computer genius and computer entrepreneur from a very young age. His intelligence included software developing, writing and internet activism. From early on he was heavily involved with the development of the internet web for formats like RSS and creative commons. After a few months of Reddit he merged into the company and co programmed Reddit. However Swartz ended up getting attention from the FBI after a New York Times Interview he did. Where he was able to gain access to 27 million pages in tax documents from the online site Pacer. He was arrested by MIT for breaking and entering, for connecting a computer to the MIT network and setting it to download academic journal articles systematically from JSTOR using a guest user account issued to him by MIT. He was charged with two counts of wire fraud and eleven violations. During his prosecution of 2013 he committed suicide

What was interesting about him?
I found him very interesting because he was a genius from a young age. He was a key contributor in the internets progression and social justice. At the age of 14 he had grown adults listening to him and learning from him; essentially making him a child prodigy respected by those three times his age.

Did he deserve his fate?
Objectively I don’t think so, he tried to be the Robin Hood academia students needed, by spreading knowledge to others free of charge, “Bringing public access to the public domain”. As a college student struggling to write papers from databases charging 60 plus dollars for one source, it is incredibly expensive to write strong academic papers from scholarly sources. While only some high ranking universities offer unrestricted access to multiple databases like JSTOR, students with lack of funds are at a disadvantage.

Website registered! What will I be doing with my site?

Possibilities Are Endless To Be Honest . . .

The process of registering for my website was fairly easy and the step-by-step video provided by Professor Seslow made it go by real smoothly. Now that I’m all registered for my website “thereslifeoutside.com” I’m very excited about the possibilities that exist about what I can do with this platform. I know I plan on making regular blog posts that express regular, daily life that infuses my interest and hopefully others as well. I really am into sneakers, specific fandoms such as Marvel, Game of Thrones, I’d also like to include things about space, the universe, astrology, and so forth and I’d like to make blogs about these topics. Of course, memes and gifs galore because I want my website to be tiny speck in this multiverse of the internet to uplift and make people laugh. Tumblr is a good example of a website that gives me those vibes. A collection of interest and popular culture. Some things are still up in the air in terms of how I want my website to look and be structured etc. but I look forward to customizing it and letting my creativity go wild. Please any ideas, feedback, thoughts, constructive criticism are all welcomed! I really want to make this website to the best of my ability and hopefully, attract people to come and take a peek at it.

Exploring the WordPress Potentials, Part II!

Exploring the WordPress Potentials, Part II!

(The assignment info & the 2 video tutorials are posted at the bottom of this post)

Welcome Back! Getting specific with WordPress and context. Last week we started setting up our new websites by simply discussing the potentials of the creation process. We talked about how to set up new pages, working with the navigation menus, working with widgets in the sidebar or footer areas, installing plug-ins (especially the Classic Editor) and the differences between posts & categories.

This all takes practice and a bit of experimentation. How did you do?WordPress is a very intuitive piece of software, and it wants your creativity! Lets continue forward. I will be sharing a new series of demonstrations and will add the recorded videos from our zoom classes here below.

Lets begin populating our new websites by publishing both a new blog post there this week and also cross posting that information here on CT101 as well. There is an efficient way to cross post content across wordpress websites. Lets say you just published a great new post on your website and you also want to share it with your classmates here on CT101.

An example of that may be done in a new post that reads:

————

Add your Blog Post Title (all blog posts need a great title!)

(insert an image – GIF – Meme – Quote – or some kind of related media)

Dear Readers – I just published a new blog post here on my website: http://yourwebsitename.com, (make sure to hyperlink the post url) please come and check it out and feel free to engage in some fun dialog.

————

This is a very minimal example above but perhaps just a title and a link is not that interesting? We need a bit of compelling energy to draw the reader from CT101 over to your site. So make this interesting and creative!

**This Week’s Blogging Assignment Prompt**

Publish a NEW blog Post on YOUR new website, the post can be about anything that you wish that has direct context to your new website’s stated intentions (what you site is being used to promote and share.)
