How am I doing in CT101?

Overall I would say I am doing well in the course, I do have a few missing assignments but I hope to get them all done soon. The course so far was very informative and kept me interested.

What have I learned and retained the most?

The main thing that I would say I learned was that you can put a lot of elements into your blog posts and really make it how you want. It can be as personal as you would like it to be.

What do I know now that I did not know before taking this class?

I now know that gifs aren’t just for entertainment purposes, I know now that they can be used express certain expressions that can really be said with words and such. Gifs can make your readers fully understand what you’re trying to go for in your posts.

What grade do I believe I am maintaining and why do I deserve that grade? 

I think I am in the B range given that I have a few missing posts.

Do I see my weekly blogging work expanding creatively? If so, please explain why –  or am I stuck in a loop where my posts seem to look the same most of the time, how will I change that?

My work has definitely got more creative since when I started. I can feel comfortable saying my posts are more personal feeling because I’m not using just any random gifs and memes I find. I hand pick each gif from things that are relevant to me.

Are there any assignments that you are missing? If so, list them.

As of right now I am missing assignments 5 and 6.

Are you commenting regularly on your classmates posts? Are you responding back to comments given to you by the professor & your classmates?

I need to comment more and respond more for sure.

I would say that I’m pretty passionate about anime, cartoons and things like that. Growing up I was always a fan of One Piece, an anime which follows the adventures of Monkey D. Luffy and his crew on their quest to find the greatest treasure “THE ONE PIECE”.

One Piece is renowned for its diverse and compelling cast of characters. Each character has their own unique backstories and their own goals and ambitions aside from Luffy’s main goal of becoming the King of the Pirates.

I enjoyed the fact that we were able to use our creativity to the fullest. It’s not every day where you are encouraged in class to go out and experiement on things you find best to fit your way of thinking. I’ll definitely give many of these skills another try when they’re called upon. I know at some point down the road, I’ll be able to make good use of these abilites that we’ve learned. Being able to take another class like this would be amazing in the future even if it is not a requirement. It gives you a healthy dose of perspective in being able to learn how many different things are out there for you to try in your own creative ways. 

I haven’t been able to work on my website I made a whole lot if I’m being honest. Having to balance out other schoolwork makes it difficult to implement enough time to even think about adding more content onto it. It would be great to not have so much work to do but things don’t come easy. When I get more time, I’ll experiment on more things but for now, I’m just going to lay off of it.

Thinking about what we did for most of the year was tough cause we had so many assignments to keep track of and it makes me scratch my head. I know we had been experimenting with ideas in terms of themed posts and all but for the most part, I only remember the mid semester recap and the mini project we did choosing what type of project we would like to do where we would post a blog on a specific theme we chose.

Not sure what else to really speak about if I am being honest so I will just scatter all sorts of hyperlinks from every post I’ve made.

Gaming

That’s pretty much what I’ve got, I don’t have much else to make as I’m going to be on vacation by the end of this week so I will wrap up here. I had an amazing time being in this class and getting to see such creative talent in so many people, hope everyone has a wonderful summer break!

Initially, I didn’t know what I wanted to create my page around so I figured I’d see what I could do with each page for starters.

I began working with the mmm. page and instantly found its ease of use and interaction with your page pretty addicting. It didn’t take too long to figure out how to edit the page so I explored.

For some reason, I thought about a prior conversation about vintage and underrated cars and decided to make my page a showroom. First off, I named my page midnightclub.mmm.page after one of my favorite racing games.

From there I found a backdrop of a showroom and “filled” it with a collection of some of my personal favorites from vintage to more modern. I also added a hyperlink to some of the best/most anticipated cars coming out this and next year in the “top cars for 2023” area.

After messing with mmm for a while I checked out Figma. This was the opposite experience from mmm as it’s very confusing on how to even get started. I’m sure there’s a lot there but, the way it’s structured makes it hard to maneuver through the site.

Plugins offer a wide range of capabilities, such as SEO optimization, security enhancements, e-commerce functionality, contact forms, image galleries, and much more.

Plugins help websites by adding specific functionalities and features that enhance their performance and user experience. They allow website owners to extend the capabilities of their sites without extensive coding or development work. Plugins can improve SEO, optimize site speed, provide security measures, integrate social media, create forms, add e-commerce functionality, enhance design elements, and much more, ultimately enabling website owners to customize and tailor their sites to meet specific needs and goals.

We must create websites in order to establish a digital presence, disseminate knowledge, communicate with a global audience, advertise goods and services, increase customer engagement, enable online transactions, enhance visibility, and adapt to the digital era, in which the internet serves as the main platform for communication and interaction.

My blog

WordPress is a well-liked content management system that makes building and maintaining websites simple. It has an intuitive user interface, themes that can be changed, and plugins for more functionality. WordPress enables users to effortlessly construct and update websites without the need for in-depth technical experience, making it available to both people and companies.

For creating your own website, having a personal domain has various benefits. First off, it gives you a distinct and expert online identity that builds your brand or online presence. Second, it gives you total control over the content, appearance, and functionality of your website, enabling customization and individualization. Thirdly, adopting a personal domain builds credibility because it presents as more reliable and professional than using a subdomain or free hosting services. It also helps search engine optimization (SEO) campaigns, which increases website visibility. Last but not least, a personal domain enables future mobility and scalability, allowing you to move hosting companies or grow your website without having to change its URL.

I was a little excited for this project because it reminded me of those aesthetic Tumblr mashups  or Pinterest collages 

I took me awhile to decide what I would use, but I figured the most entertaining thing would probably just be a mashup of all my favorite things.

I used some of my favorite characters, including Sailor Jupiter from one of my favorite animes, Sailor Moon, Inosuke from Demon Slayer, Sack Boy, who was previously mentioned in a different blog post for currently being one of my favorite video games/characters, and Dragonanir, my favorite Pokemon, to create my final product.  I’m actually really happy and impressed with it. The dancing girl at the bottom wasn’t included for any particular purpose; I just happened to see her as I was finishing up the project and felt she fit in nicely.

As per following the previous week’s assignment, we created a domain and started to build our website. I’ve mentioned before about my bubble tea and I want to create this website based on that. The website is going to be a summary of what we offer and I would like to keep it minimalist as possible. The theme that I am going for is the “Twenty Twenty-Two” theme and the colors that I’ve selected are black and white. The website is not finished being built but I am in the process of creating multiple tabs with pictures and short paragraphs. I’ve attached screenshots of the preview and how it is going to look. Navigating through the interface is somewhat complicated because of graphics and text editor are separate categories. 

Creating an account through Reclaiming hosting was pretty explanatory. The instructions posted on the assignment 9 tab were easy to follow and I was easily able to create an account. Going through the process of creating the website was somewhat challenging because I accidentally installed WordPress twice. But after I looked through how to use the website, I was able to navigate my way through to creating my website. Although using this method to create a website is easy, I believe that other ways to create a website are slightly easier than using Reclaiming hosting.

Assignment 9- Registering A domain

Honestly I expected this website making business to be a lot of work but, I found creating and customizing it to be very easy and actually quite fun.

My main issue right now is that I didnt receive a verification email or a second one so my domain was deactivated I’m waiting for an email to be resent, it still hasn’t been sent so I’m gonna wait to see if anything happens so I can continue to customize it and have fun with it.
