CUNY York College – Digital Storytelling
Some of my favorite things I love to do is play video games with my friends i also love to watch anime and other well known tv shows as well. Let’s get into the stuff I like.
Video games were also part of my life ever since I was young my first ever console was a Gameboy Advanced SP my uncle got it for me I remember playing it so much as a kid the only game I had was this Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle game which I was never able to beat. I recently started it again only problem is my save file doesn’t save so if I wanna play the game I have to beat it in one run. Besides that I play PC games now and console games but it’s crazy to see how much Video games have advanced over the years.
Anime has also been part of my life since I was young I started off with Pokemon and Naruto ever since from them I have discovered so many Anime’s and it’s something that will never change from me. I learned a lot of life lessons from anime as well. Especially from Naruto.
Something else I really enjoy is music from different genres like K-pop J-Pop, Rap and Pop as well as Rock, Heavy Metal, Punk Rock and etc I am very open to different kinds of music it’s one of my favorite hobby’s to listen to some music while playing games and doing work.
Yes memes are a form of art that’s because memes can come in many different forms and art is so important.
Art is a way that we can express ourselves it’s a way for us to show who we truly are and a way to show our creativity. Art is so important to our society as well because Art means something to people it means a lot to those who love to express themselves.
Memes are a way for us to express ourselves it’s a way we can connect and have a nice laugh. Some people don’t understand others humor and it can be difficult to have people understand you but with memes they get shared all over the internet and it brings people together this piece of media is so important and it’s a form of art.
These next three memes are some of my favorite memes out there.
Memes can tell a story an example of that would be the ones I posted above it shows a pokemon being swept away in water being completely fine with that a short story it shows everyone else’s reaction than his saying this is fine. It’s funny and tells a funny short little story.
Some memes I have made for this class are:
\
These were three memes I decided to make but it shows how memes tell a story these three memes all tell a story. So lets get out there and make some memes.
For the ds106 assignment I chose to do the animated gif one and make gifs of one of my favorites shows. The show I chose was Psych. The show is about a fake psychic detective who uses his skills of observation to solve crimes.
In order to make the gifs I googled a compilation of moments from the show and I put the link into Imgur. Then I scrubbed through the footage and picked what would make good or funny gifs.
Step 1: Open imgur and click new post then click video to gif.
step 2: Copy the video link and paste it into the past url box.
Step 3: Look through the video until you can find something that can be turned into a gif. Then click create gif.
Here are some gifs I made:
One assignment I would like to do is turning your story into a game. I think it would be cool to learn how to make cover art and take one medium and make it turn it into another. It would also be cool to learn how to edit cutscenes for characters.
Dear Fellow Readers – I just published a new blog post here on my website: http://www.polishprincepalace.com, please come and check it out and feel free to engage in some fun dialog.
I started with much drive and ambition and started to develop the site. It’s a fusion of many elements. I’m very confident in how it’s been going. With the suggestions of Mr. Seslow, I think plug-ins have to be explored and just organize it Very strong site, many of my peers outside of school are impressed. Moreso, for my morale….
to be able to promote it on my social media is so elevating for me. Like Taio Cruz said, “IT’S TAKING ME HIGHER!”
To be able to organize projects and my favorite songs, recipes, sports teams, inspiring quotes IS AMAZING! It’s professional, but the site is more personal and vibrant than say my journalism counter part.
Thanks so much! Much love.
I began my search for a project prompt on DS106
With a background selected, I headed over to Photopea and hoped photoshopping would be as easy as everyone said it was.
After a few failed attempts to find a good image on pixabay I knew Google was my next option

The process of creating a domain name for a website was done via reclaimhosting.com which overall was efficient and straightforward.
However, the computers on campus would not let me in. I learned that this is because the website was blocked on campus as it was outside of CUNY organizations. It kinda blows that this has happened, although I understand why it was initially blocked due to it being unknown by the IT department and a firewall was used for safety purposes
I’m able to access the site at randomnessabyss.com via my phone or other personal devices. However, due to the web page being blocked on campus, this means that I likely will have to edit the website from elsewhere until further notice
When first hearing about this assignment I initially thought it’d be complicated but, after setting it up it’s a pretty straightforward process. We’ll be using the site reclaimhosting.com for this project.
Meme art has merged with pop culture and politics; it now appears in our Facebook feeds, first mocking a tone-deaf Pepsi commercial before taking the form of hand-scrawled signs at anti-Trump protests. Nothing on the post-internet Earth escapes the comedy meme’s gaze, and the meme’s shape is now viewed as an artistic medium for this particular internet era. High-art purists avoid the topic, although the pre-digital art historical canon has a significant influence on the social influence of modern meme civilization.
I believe that memes are a form of art because of how memes are portrayed to us. Memes can symbolize many things such as giving meaning to a thought or showing an image that can display a message. Similar to this, memes provide a highly engaged and accessible platform for production that is ripe for conflict and dissent, with controversy and disagreements just adding gasoline to the fire of a successful meme truly going viral. More memes fizzle and go.
Depending on how they are utilized and interpreted, memes can have either beneficial or bad effects on art. On the one hand, memes can aid in boosting the exposure and appeal of particular works of art or artists. The ability to readily share and circulate artworks across social media platforms allows them to be turned into memes, reaching a wider audience and perhaps introducing individuals to art they might not have otherwise encountered. Additionally, by making art more relatable and approachable for a younger generation that may not have had much exposure to traditional forms of art, memes can help make art more popular.
Memes may be used to tell stories, yes. Memes can be used to convey messages and concepts that are more serious in nature, even though they are often linked with humor and satire. For instance, a lot of memes include pictures or captions that express a narrative or tell a tale. These tales can be straightforward and lighthearted or intricate and thought-provoking. Memes can also be used to visually narrate stories, conveying ideas or messages through pictures and videos.
Memes can also be used to impart a cultural experience and unite people through narrative. People can connect over similar experiences, viewpoints, or ideals by exchanging memes, fostering a sense of belonging and community. Overall, even though humor and entertainment are frequently associated with memes, they can also be an effective tool for storytelling and communication.
When first thinking of domain names for my site some of my first thoughts were what would symbolize a community based site that promotes the expression of ideas. After running through names like thinktank, ideahouse, my namesake lcollins and a tie in with my clothing site safehavenblog. I finally settled on the simpler safehaventhinks.com. With this site I wanted to have an open source chat feature and I’m also exploring options on the submission of user creations.
My worries are of course potential bugs and possibly the need for moderation or restrictions. I’m excited about having a domain but, when you have so many options on where you want to take it its difficult to stick to one focus. I don’t want my site to end up cluttered with adding to many things.

Let’s get a bit more specific with WordPress and begin to apply intentional context to our website design. Last week we started setting up our new websites by simply discussing the potentials of the visual design creation and experimentation process. We dug in a lil’ – but let’s move forward and focus on this here this week.
Let us now talk about how to set up new pages, and how to add those pages to the main navigation menu. We will discuss the navigation menus locations and what their functions were. We will look at the footer space and adding widgets in the footer areas. We also took a peek into “plug-ins” and installing plug-ins (especially the Classic Editor for the similar blogging experience we see on the ct101 site for writing our posts) and the differences between pages, posts & categories.
This is quite a bit of information and I highly suggest that you re-watch the class video tutorial from last week for the practice of retaining the new skills that were shared and displayed. I do this very often myself as I find it super helpful for being able to replicate a new skill or technique.
This all takes regular practice and a bit of openness to experimentation in general. How did you do with your experimenting last week? What did you work on? You can leave a comment below on this post and share the link to your new site :))) – WordPress is a very intuitive piece of software, and it wants your creativity!
Let’s continue forward. I will be sharing a new series of demonstrations with WordPress this week.
**This Week’s Blogging Assignment Prompt is Optional**
Let’s begin populating our new websites by publishing a new blog post there. Thats right, You can publishing a new post on YOUR website and also “cross-post” that information here on CT101 as well. There is an efficient way to cross-post content across WordPress websites.
I will show you how.
Lets say you just published a great new blog post on your new website and you also want to share it with your classmates / community here on the CT101 website. (You can! Its easy)
Step 1 – is to publish the new blog post on your website. Remember, every blog post has its own unique URL that can be later shared on other places and space on the Internet.
An example of cross sharing your post on may be done in a new post on CT101 that reads:
————
Your Blog Post Title (all blog posts need a great title!)
(insert an image – GIF – Meme – Quote – or some kind of related media)
“Dear Fellow Readers – I just published a new blog post here on my website: http://yourwebsitename.com, (make sure to hyperlink the post url) please come and check it out and feel free to engage in some fun dialog. Thanks so much”
————
This is a very minimal example above but perhaps just a title and a link is not that interesting? We need a bit of compelling energy to draw the reader from CT101 over to your site. So make this interesting and creative!
**This Week’s Blogging Assignment Prompt is Optional**
Publish a NEW blog Post on YOUR new website, the post can be about anything that you wish that has direct context to your new website’s stated intentions (what your site is being used to promote and share.) After publishing the post, create a new blog post here on CT101 that shares a synopsis of your new post from your website that will entice and grab our attention, be sure to include the direct URL as a hyperlink to the new blog post.
PS – WordPress is really vast and there are many many tutorials out there for “WordPress beginners” – Perhaps YouTube is a helpful source for finding some new resources outside of class? Of Course! Here is one, but feel free to share links to others that you have explored (add the link to the comments section below.)
Welcome to an instructional website that guides web builders who specifically want to target a wellness audience.
The purpose of the App is to target and service viewers and members that are interested in building their own followers in the yoga and wellness community.
Creating a layout with typography, font, and background color while following Tuesday’s tutorial by Professor Seslow went through many colorful ranges.
First, mandarin orange with white text.
Then lime green with black text.
I tested all these combinations and felt orange with black text strained my eyesight the least.
The youtube.com video above is a short tutorial to help organize your website and add images to your WordPress gallery.
