CT101 was an amazing class, one that I wish I got to experience in person. I wanna start by saying I was trying to enroll in this class for two semesters and It was always full, so when I finally enrolled early enough to get in I was genuinely so excited. And I will be the first to admit that online schooling really caused me to lose all my motivation for college. Quarantine kinda drained me and then I started back working full time to make up and in a way college became a second though. I was up early to get to work so I could leave earlier to make it to class, up early for class so I could make it to work; working extra hours to make up for the time lost in class and in all I just couldn’t focus.

But I genuinely loved CT101, it was amazing to learn that I am capable of creating my own website and the effort that I put into making it my own helped me to see my true potential. And I know that if I had the experience in class and got that opportunity, I just know my website would be way more completed.

The point of my blog was to be a place for me to discuss topics that I knew would draw lots of opens by using things I witnessed on social media. I was able to build a foundation that I am not unhappy with, I just wish I put in the full effort to make it complete.

  

I do plan on continuing it, actually adding my social media to it and making it public to all. In conclusion, I never really thought of my grade and I am definitely not expecting an A, I could only hope for a B, although, not complete I am proud of the foundation I did create. I am happy I took this class because phenomenal professors are hard to fine and I got to do and learn about things and techniques that I know would benefit me in my career. Okay Bye.

My First CT101 GIFs.

No doubt now, I have control over creating a gifs. I just have to keep working the different aspects to get strong.

I commited to do better in this class even though I am wondering whether I have really did. It has been like you are entering into an area with in mind you can be misleaded with little chance to recur. Sure, I have done better, but I remained doubtful until the end, saying that I can’t handle all these new stuff.

Are Internet Memes Arts?

My third assignment.

Why would not Internet memes be arts ? Like any other art they are from human universe and welcomed into human universe. On the contrary they appear more complete for associating creativity, talent, skills, etc., which make the user fell being an integral part of the Game.

Like any art, internet memes are  cultural elements that attract us all around the Table while we each keep our freedom of coding, decoding and encoding.  What if we interacted/assimilated/appropriated it better and quicker funnily?

My mind has not changed until the end about CT101. It has been a nice class with a high pedagogical teaching.

 

My Domain Name Assignment

In fact, it was like a dictation, with the tutorial through my cellphone while I operated on computer. Lol! This remind me my beginning at school.

I think I have been lost as from this assignment or even before. For this reason, I have stopped counting and dating. There have been plenty of factors for which I was seriously thinking about giving up. But, it is not necessary to mention them in this post.

This was a post with no title. Yet, it was the post in which I was inspired and feel confident the most.

My domain name is the act of birth of a website for the bottom leaders.

 

My point is that there should be plenty of leaders across a company, but they all do not emerge for one reason or another. Some leaders, for instance, have the only weakness, which is making sure of removing bars from the ladder after having climbed it or even parachuting to an upper position. Doing so, they condemned other leaders, perhaps the true one, to remain in the bottom.

I think that the latter need to be heard. My website would be a platform for them to make their leadership case. They would express their experience as a leader from the bottom of the ladder wile positioning themselves on leadership above them and Leadership globally. Such reports could inspire other workers positively and lead officials to a self-awareness in relation to their conception of leadership. That does not necessarily refer to top-down leadership. I just figured that sometimes the true leaders perform from and remain in the bottom.

Perhaps www.guadelead.com would sound better as a domain name?

Finally, as I am a passionate of History, I would take the opportunity to report my readings on Georges Washington, Winston Churchill, Charles De Gaulle, Toussaint Louverture, Julius Cesar, and others political leaders.

Before CT101, I knew that movies affected us emotionally and impacted our choice in live thanks to different sort of contents, techniques and effects, but I was barely aware that I could use one or some of these visual contents to share my own feeling and even influence others. CT101 granted me that awareness, and all I can say is thank you!

Not only CT101 helped me to create and use GIFS, memes and logo to communicate my gladness, sadness, anger, embarrassment, desire, skills, etc., but also it taught me to interpret thrm. I do not know for others, it has not been easy for me because I only used to click and watch. Maybe this and other circumstances slow my learning during the semester.

But, no worries! I surely will reach the destination.

What are my strengths and weakness so far? I think  I need to improve every aspects of what we have learned. But, our bigger weakness lies in our lack of time. We have so much things to do at a time. Beside mastering tools to design a logo,  completing the customizing of my  website remains an exciting challenge for me.

Through this post I have admired  images overlaid which appeal to a large possibility of artistic expression. Although it remains a little challenging to me,  I know that “vaperwave is a macrogenre of electronic music, a virtual art style, and an Internet meme that emerged in the early 2010s”(wikipedia).

Sure, There are a thousand reasons to love Vaperwave. By dint of working on it on can can master it and use it in a variety of ways. For my part, I plan to apply it journalistically.

But using artistically, Vaperwave seems allow to perform amazingly. In realty I was not sure that I was able to work it. It appeared out of my reach to the point I was about to give the class. But, this Friday, I committed to try again. I took some time to produce this image. At the end of the day, I told myself that I can if I go on.

As I just figured out that this assignment should have bee submitted before noon this Friday while it is right now 10 pm, I am going to quickly and only say which part of the class I have not exploited enough. DS106 remain a mystery that I have to penetrate. I must understand better the wordpress template so I can progress with my website. This is very important and even too important to finish my website because I have planned to do it the tool of my success.

I have been implemented a schedule so I devote 2 hours a day on www.guadelead.com. At first, I wanted it to be destined to only leadership, but I found out that I can extend it to others fields. Sure, there are leadership actions everywhere, but I use it to publish my thought on any topic. This will incite me to read more and be more attentive to what happens around me.

The idea to propose a grade for myself makes me laugh. Anyway, my work in this class is not worth more than a B+.

 

Unfortunately, it’s time to say our goodbyes. This class was like a breath of fresh air, it allowed my mind to be free to explore different forms of art. Who knew that Gifs would be so easy to make! This class taught me how to be a stronger writer and to explore different forms of writing. On the first day, I was hesitant about the class, like I always mention, I’M A MARKETING MAJOR, we are all textbook and numbers, I felt this class was so different than anything I experience in college.

 

Recap to my first blog post, I was writing about my favorite place on the internet, I expressed my love for newsletters and how I love the internet for looking up ridiculous questions. For me, it’s about having the information at your fingertips. That’s when it started, my appreciation for the things I never took the minute to think about.

One of the milestones that we passed as a class is learning how to create Gifs. This allowed us to express ourselves in images rather than words.  I really enjoyed this part of the class because I like using this as an outlet to communicate with my friends. But in a serious way, I see a lot of opportunities with using gifs to connect with younger audiences about a product or service.

 

I feel that I have earned an A because although I’m not the best at the creative part of the assignments, I do respect the class and I do my assignment in a timely. Most importantly, I can feel as a writer I am growing and becoming more serious about blogging. An example is my website started off as a Mystery Murder website that allowed users to tune into ghost stories and unsolved mysteries. I was excited to create this website and to stand out but I often found myself puzzled when creating blog posts. I had some sort of writer’s block. So, after sitting with the concept for a few weeks, I finally decided that I wanted to change the concept altogether.

 

After doing so, I found myself happier with my new concept about how to save money. I really want to document my journey towards financial success so I would probably continue with the site even after the class ends. My success with my website is writing blogs post and sharing tips and tricks about financial freedom. One of my frustration was the process the format, the design, the concept. It was hard to make these big decisions but I finally was able to settle on a concept and that was a relief.

The End of the semester is here!!

This was one hectic ride of a semester!! Having classes all online has definitely tested my resilience.  I feel like I never want to see a computer screen or a keyboard again.   But this class, even though I definitely struggled keeping up with the work, was definitely the high point. I didn’t know what to expect when I signed up for this class, but I’m was pleasantly surprised

To be apart of a class that allows so much creative freedom and expression is definitely not something you see to much of in college.  I definitely enjoyed this class and I learned some new things.  I learned how to make my own gifs and memes.

Giphy is definitely my favorite website that i learned about this semester.  Im the kind of person who loves to have conversations with gifs and memes and it was so fun exploring the website.I learned how to photoshop and learned about Aaron Schwartz, a very important person in our technological age.

If there is one thing that I’m disappointed about, it is that I did not do everything that I wanted to do on my website.  Even though I created a website, I did not do enough work to make it what I wanted it be.  But since I have my domain until next year , I definitely plan on continuing with what I had intially planned.

Even though it is extremely hard to be honest with yourself, I think I earned around a B-.  I like to put my all into what I do and with the course of everything going on, I didn’t do that.  Even so, this class was still fun and interesting. It’s the kind of class that students need in the the middele of  a hectic semester and even to learn skills that will be useful throughout college career.

Thank you professor, for being so understanding during such a stressful time and I hope everyone has a happy holiday and stays safe and healthy!!NOw, it’s time for a nap!

I feel like this semester is slow and still incredibly fast.  The midpoint of the semester can so quickly!! CT101 has been a very interesting class, to say the least.  I never thought I would find a class in college that gives you full creative control and encourages you to do what you want. Something new that I’ve learned so far is how to create my own website. I did not realize that so much work went into creating and maintaining a URL.

I definitely feel like my creativity is what makes this class a little easier.  All I do is use GIFs and memes to communicate so it’s not that different for me to do it for this class.

Now…For my weaknesses…

My BIGGEST weaknesses for this class (and all of my other ones) is my workload and horrible time management skills. I still have a job and I’m taking 15 credits this semester.  Add that with my subpar time management skills and

Right now in the semester,   I feel like I’m in a B maybe B- range.  I really need to work on managing my time better if I would like to get a higher grade.

I get bored so easily and I can see myself want to change my domain name 2 days into having it. With that being said,I have a few names in mind.

1. Lilo’s World-Lilo is the nickname my sister gave me because of how much I love Lilo and Stitch.

So, I think I would make my website about my personal opinions or about things I see throughout my day. I have a lot of opinions about pretty much everything, so it would be a great platform for my to talk when my sister doesn’t want to listen to me talk.

Aaron Swartz was a computer programmer, hacktivist, and a casualty of a capitalistic society hellbent on monetizing everything.  I thought the documentary was revealed what is wrong with our society and how people can twist the “justice system” to vilify people.  A couple of things stood out to me in this documentary:

1. He did not use any of the materials that he illegally downloaded.  He was apprehended before he even had a chance to share it with anyone or even use it himself, so  I was confused about what they were supposed to be charging him with.  Meanwhile, there are government officials that have proven ties to certain foreign countries and commit all types of fraud but…

2. JSTOR dropped the charges.  If there is no complainant and they didn’t feel that they had been defrauded, what’s the complaint? The people who he “stole” from didn’t find it serious enough but a prosecutor with an agenda had the right to repeatedly harass him?

3. The prosecutor admitted that they wanted to make an example out of him.  Maybe I watch too many crime shows, but that clearly proves a bias or something.  Stephen Hymann should have never been allowed to harass him or his friends and family to “make a point.” I think it also reveals a deeper and more sinister part of our government: the part that needs to protect profit above anything else.  The only reason they would’ve needed to make an example out of Aaron is to deter people from doing what he did.  They were afraid that more people would realize that information is a right that we should all have, especially in the digital age that we’re in.

Personally, I don’t think that Aaron committed suicide solely because of the case.  I think people like Aaron are normally troubled; too smart for the world and often misunderstood. I’m not saying he would’ve committed suicide eventually, but the ridicule and villification of his actions probably confirmed what he already thought: he wasn’t meant to fit in this world.  I hope that the Internet’s Boy is resting in peace.

What is Copyright?

Copyright is a legal right in protecting one’s property or work. According to Lessig’s Ted Talk– Laws that chokes Creativity, Lessing talks about “people taking and recreating using other people’s content with the use of digital technologies”.  He explains that “every single use requires permission and without permission, you are trespasser”, in other you are committing an unlawful act. The purpose of this TED Talk was to discuss how copyright is affected and changing over time.

Lessig says that  “never before has creativity of the millions has been effectively displaced, and displaced because of these quote, “infernal machines.”

The “infernal machines” are described as  technology, Lessig refers that that long ago people used creativity on their own , they were able to do it themselves. But nowadays, creativity is replaced with technology, thus society rely on it, choosing the easy route.

 

This is my first time hearing about vaporwaves. According to the Wikipedia, “vaporwave is a microgenre of electronic music, a visual art style, and an Internet meme that emerged in the early 2010s”.

I guess I was a little young  when vapor waves became a thing. Now that I learned about vaporwaves they are actually cool and creative.

I used this tool that triangulates images, the experience was a bit challenging because it’s my first time using these types of creative tools.

 

Today I visited Aishah’s website. To describe it, her website is very modern and simple. It is based on Middle Eastern culture.

My parents are both from the Middle East, to specify, they are from Yemen.

 

Aishah posted this recipe on her blog. This is every Arab’s favorite dish.

I enjoyed looking through Aishah’s website, the website layout correlates with the idea of middle eastern culture.

So far this class has been the best out of all the other classes I am taking.

In this class, I learned new materials and techniques such as adding hyperlinks, making my own gif, creating my website and so much more. I believe this is the only class I enjoyed and had fun with.

I like the fact that I learn something new every week. I am not a fan of repetitive teaching, I get really bored.

I can’t wait to learn more !!!

I have never heard about Aaron Swartz before watching this documentary. According to the American Library Association, Swartz was “an advocate for public participation in government and unrestricted access to peer-reviewed scholarly articles”.

He founded several software companies like watchdog.net and Infogami which was later merged to Reddit.com

Aaron Swartz once said, “With enough of us around the world, we will not just send a story message opposing the privatization of knowledge- we will make it a thing of the past.

Based on this quote, Aaron Swartz wanted to private knowledge resources-such as articles public to the people. He took the situation and did things that were unlawful. Swartz wanted everyone to have free access to them. I do understand his point, he was fighting for freedom and fairness.
