It’s fascinating how a single picture can tell an essential meaning to something, and it can tell you a lot. This was a fantastic assignment where we used our creativity to showcase a story through a panoramic view.

For our first picture, I would call this panoramic view fighting back because, on the left, it mainly shows the tall students fighting the little guys, and on the right, the little guys stood up for themselves and fought back against the bullies.  The message is you have to fight back with your strength if someone tries to bully you. (I am the student in the red hoodie :D)

This photo is called “social than media” because, on the left, it tells us that people are dancing/socializing with each other, while on the right, it shows that everyone is paying attention more to their phones than each other. The best to describe this photo would be pre covid vs. post covid because before being isolated for more than a year, we hung out and needed not to worry about a virus but then covid happened. Everyone separated themselves to avoid the virus and invested time on their social media.

Let me present to you guys my first post on my website

When we first learned about panoramic storytelling in class and were given this assignment, I knew that it was my time to shine until reality set in as per usual. Though I didn’t have a specific story I wanted to tell with my pictures, I felt that it would come to me while working with a group of people. Based on my pictures below, I did not have a group of people. For a first-timer and many failed attempts, I feel like I did a pretty decent job if I do say so myself.

Well, what happened to your group of people you may be wondering. I’m glad you asked. let’s just call this… the story before the story.

Hmmm I wonder how I’m gonna take these pictures I thought to myself. Who’s gonna be in it? What story am I telling? I need a big space for movement obviously. Okay, I got it. I’ll just ask my friends if they wanna hang out Tuesday after class so they could help me with my project. Luckily, they all agreed and when Tuesday came I never felt more ready to take pictures despite my hands always shaking. Long story short, we did not take the pictures but got burritos instead…

Now time for the actual story…

I call it Posh Parker 

Ever since he was a kid, Eli hated the park. But it wasn’t the park alone, it was anything nature-related. He just couldn’t stand it. The bugs, the grass, the trees, and especially smelling like outside. One day Eli woke up feeling…different. The good kind though. He felt as if he was being too picky about certain things in life. So that maybe if he weren’t, he could enjoy more things. The first thing that came to mind was the park because why not? It was a Friday afternoon so kids were still in school-leaving it empty and a great place for some quiet time, peace of mind, and some soul searching. I wanna see what all the hype is about. Literally, everyone goes to the park-old people, toddlers, teenagers, even adults. Maybe there’s something I’m missing Eli thought. So to the park he went.

What do people even do here Eli thought while standing by the swings in an awkward position unsure of what to do with himself. I guess ill sit down he mumbles to himself and made his way onto the swings. Sure, the weather was nice and it was quiet but it just wasn’t for him. Maybe ill try walking around. On the concrete of course. Eli made his way off the swings and into the main section of the park. He walked around for a bit looking around until he found himself by a tree. Maybe if I hug the tree, I’ll feel more connected to nature. So he did exactly that. As uncomfortable as it was, Eli hugged the tree and it was at that moment he realized that both the park and nature were not for him. 

I’m so excited I thought to myself getting ready to complete this week’s CT assignment. I finally get to see some of my classmates’ websites and what they’re about. I opened my laptop along with a new tab, typed in CT101, and logged into my account. Clicking on the course schedule and this week’s assignment, I could feel the excitement building as I scrolled to the bottom of the page to see the comments that were everyone’s websites. To my dismay, there were only two websites there-mine and Professor Seslow’s. It’s kind of funny when I look back at it but wasn’t that funny at the moment. Now, I had no other choice but to wait for some websites to appear in the comments section…

I’d be lying if I were to say that I consistently checked our class website to see if anyone posted the URL to their website because that was not the case. After my first failed attempt at completing this assignment, I waited for a whole week before coming back to it. But I still came back so that’s all that matters. Right?

The websites I visited were https://aquicklaugh.com/.   https://madeinyourlikeness.com/. And https://cookwitheliz.org/.  Personally, I feel as if my section of websites to check out really resonated with different pieces of my personality which I really enjoyed.

 https://aquicklaugh.com/ was the first site I visited where I was sucked in right away. The first thing I noticed about the site before even clicking on the link was the domain which piqued my interest with the initial thought being I like to laugh. Something I like about this website is that not only does it have the most iconic memes from the beginning of time, but it also gives us the backstory of where the meme came from. Like the name of the person in the picture and the story behind it. The same goes for gifs which I absolutely love. Choosing a favorite on this site seems. Difficult because everything flows so well together because memes and gifs are like best friends and you cannot have one without the other.  https://aquicklaugh.com/ is a great website to reminisce about old social trends and learn something new after a long day

 https://madeinyourlikeness.com/ Brought me some sort of comfort after seeing the domain causing me to click on it. Something about the name “made in your likeness” felt like it was a cool, schwifty site which it is. My favorite post on this site is a seven-second clip of an animation that was created by the creator of this site. I thought it was really funny and cute. You guys should check it out! Overall, I like the website on the whole especially the topic of focus which is animation and space which are two things I really like as well. I think the appearance of the site goes very well with the whole outer space theme.

 https://cookwitheliz.org/ is kind of a giveaway but I will tell you guys anyway. The last website I explored was a cooking website where various Nigerian food recipes are posted along with instructions. I do not have a favorite post because the whole website is well put together where everything flows. Something I appreciated about the site was the description of the food groups and an overall summary of nutrition. I also like that the directions on the recipe are precise which is needed if someone like me is going to be in the kitchen. 

 

Today I’ll discuss the World Trade Center. The World Trade Center is widely recognized as the world’s tallest structure. It was a popular spot before the disaster, where everyone went and spoke about. Today, I’ll offer an overview of how things are now and how the United States is recovering from the incidents.

The first World Trade Center was a massive complex of seven skyscrapers in New York City’s Lower Manhattan’s Financial District. It first opened on April 4, 1973, and was destroyed following the September 11 terrorist attacks in 2001.When I think of the World Trade Center, I think of how many lives were lost in a single act of evil. This day will forever damage family life. 

 

This panoramic shot was taken at the World Trade Center, which houses the Westfield World Trade Center shopping complex. I try to envision what it was like 21 years ago every time I come here. I often watch videos on YouTube about people who worked at the World Trade Center that day and how they missed their alarms or trains that day, and how God saved them from death.

A monument and museum devoted to those who died that day may be found outside the Westfield World Trade Center retail mall. When I see their names, I am reminded of how many wonderful individuals have died simply performing their jobs or working hard to provide for their families. It reminds me to be grateful every day because life is so brief, and not everyone has the chance to live a long life.

 

Rest in peace to all the brave dads, moms, teens, young aldut, firefighters who risk their lives to save people, the incredible guy who keeps going to each floor to save people, and police officers who died that day. I also hope that God would give peace that beyond all understanding to their family, friends, and anybody else who is still mourning over this tragedy. 9/11.

 

 

MEMEsssss

Memes can be seen as art because in the past you can see that art has been used to do the same thing memes do now: bright colorful images that represent an idea. The definition of art can fall into the definition of what is a meme. When it comes on to “Pop Art,” memes can fall under the category (of using popular media styles to create art). Memes are good for art because they are straightforward and always have an effective punchline. As we notice in our society today, people like to follow the trend and if they realize using a hilarious clip can get millions of views, people will do anything to think outside the box and make something that people will enjoy, share, and having a long-term impact. Memes are good for communication they serve as a fast way to tell a storyline and give few seconds of hilarity when scrolling on any social media platform. Memes have become a part of our online lives, helping us express, inform and cope with every day.

The fact that you can use, say, a scene from an obscure film and put on a different and unrelated topic onto it and still make it enjoyable for many makes memes a language of their own. More than inciting laughter, it also becomes an interesting way for us all to express our sentiments. I like using a meme GIF as a reaction to something irritating your friend has said in your group chat. But others take this a step further and create their memes to get their point across. Memes can be more than just simply a “form of self-expression,” it’s clear to see that memes serve as more than just a source of entertainment. They can influence and they can express; they can unite, and they can tear apart, and they can even propel the unknown subject of a picture into worldwide fame. Also, it can become a shared cultural experience for internet users around the world.

The website I chose to explore was Liz’s website, her website shared a bunch of recipes and provided images of the food.

The layout of her website was very excellent, on the home page when you scroll down you see the foods and click on them to learn more about them.

Liz even provided directions and the exact amount of ingredients you would need to make this food. The only thing I would say to improve is to add images or gifs because it’s a lot of text and people might not want to read all of it. But I love the website, I can’t wait to see more recipes.

Hello everyone, it’s been a long time since I’ve posted on here. How are you today? I’ll be presenting a new blog that I just placed on the new website, as well as some of my favorite websites from our class. Let’s get started.

On my website, I demonstrated how to cook Jollof rice, a famous Nigerian cuisine in our nation. Today I’ll give you a quick rundown of some of the ingredients and how to prepare it. I’ll also pass along the blog’s URL  here.

Nigerian rice dish Jollof (or jollof rice). Long-grain rice, tomatoes, onions, spices, vegetables, and meat are often cooked together in a same pot, however the ingredients and preparation techniques vary by location. As you can see in the picture I went in details about how it’s to cook jollof rice. I went to twitter to find other culture jolly rice this is Ghanaian Jollof rice. I think it looks amazing with all the vegetables. 

Here are some ingrendent that is use to make Nigerian jollof rice. I will share a few on here but check out my website to check out the rest. I will make the images small on here so go to my website to check out the full post and  images.

1/3 cup oil (not olive, but vegetable, canola, or coconut)
a 400-gram can of tomatoes OR 6 medium-sized fresh plum/Roma tomatoes, diced
6 red poblano peppers, seeds removed (or 4 big red bell peppers

I also created direction to follow so people will cook it correctly and not mess it up. I hope this recipes will help some people who want to learn other people culture food.

Now I would like to talk about some website that stood out to me when I was checking out the comment under the assignment post. First Paola Acosta websites stood out to me because with just the simplicity it still stand out. I want everyone to check out her website   I also love her first blog that talk about how we tend to consume everything around us which is true everyday we go on social media and things we see and read can increase our knowledge.

Second website that stood out to me is definitely DUOJAY website called madeinyourlikeness. I think the background design for this website it’s actually brilliant because of what the website will be about. I don’t think he’s done editing his page but I’m looking forward to seeing his first blog so I can make a comment on his page. 

 

 

 

 

 

How am I doing in CT101?
Being of this semester, I wasn’t confident enough to get through this. Creating memes and hyperlinking are the fun things that were really exciting. I’m doing fine right now, however, I have a lot of assignments to submit.

How many points have I earned so far, and what grade do I believe I am maintaining?
The first few assignments I have done on time, however, in the middle skip some assignments. I feel that everything I’ve shared so far has been taken seriously, and I’ve learned a lot in the process. I attempted to follow the professor’s directions as closely as possible whenever I posted something. So, I feel I was successful in maintaining the quality of my blog postings. I trying my best to get A.

What have I learned and retained the most?
I’ve learned a lot of different methods to express myself and modify things, as well as a lot of knowledge. That information came from a variety of websites I learned about in CT 101, includinghttps://mmm.page//, https://assignments.ds106.us/, and https://giphy.com/.

What new skills have I developed, cultivated, and displayed regularly in my weekly posts?

Till now, there are so many new skills have I developed, cultivated, and displayed regularly in my weekly posts. The first thing I learned was how to create memes and GIFs. I found websites like GIPHY and Imgur quite intriguing and simple to deal with when the lecturer introduced us to them.

How do I assess my performance through self-reflection in this class?

I attempt to assess my performance through self-reflection by regularly reading comments and feedback on my posts to see whether my professor or fellow classmates have advised that I improve in terms of formatting or offering a more detailed explanation of something.

What do I know now that I did not know before taking this class?

There are lots of things I know now before taking this class. websites like Giphy, Imgur, DS106, and mmm.page , etc and most WordPress.  One of the best things that makes me so happy is to build my own website. The skill I learned from this class helped me improve my general communication abilities, and I am grateful for that.

I participate in class and respond to the professor’s questions during class. While the lecturer discusses the homework and works on drafts, I also take notes. I also make an effort to comment on my peers’ posts on a regular basis and to answer to comments on my own articles as often as feasible.

One of my favorite websites to use is Youtube. I catch myself using it the most as a form of entertainment. Whenever I am bored, I go on Youtube, before I eat, I make sure I find a good Youtube video and if I find something interesting or funny, I share the video with friends or family. Another website I catch myself a lot on is Amazon and that is because Amazon is probably where I order most of my things from when I decide to shop online. 

CT 101 has been an amazing and fun class and one of the best classes I have taken in the 4 years I have been at York College. Creative freedom and having an understanding and chill professor has been such a breather compared to the rest of my classes. Which makes it upsetting that I have not been able to keep up with this class and work on my assignments as much as I would have liked to. I thought I would be able to maintain being a full-time college student and working a full-time job but honestly, it’s been draining but there’s no excuse. But I do ensure that for every assignment I put 100% effort into it because that would be unfair to Professor Seslow who is taking time to show us different tools to tell a digital narrative.

Leading up to assignment #6 I have learned so many things such as how to create my own gifs and memes and using them to tell a story. How to use hyperlinks, how to take screenshots on the computer, how to make a story flow along using all these things. There are so many ways to tell a digital narrative through pictures, designs, recordings, videos, writing, animations etc… Being able to post gifs and other forms of media through hyperlinks, screenshots or uploads on a weekly basis so that my classmates can better understand the narrative I am trying to tell has been something that has stuck with me throughout. Another thing I have not been consistent with is commenting on other classmate’s posts, but I do receive feedback whenever I get them and work on updating my posts. I hope to continue using these skills and learn to use more digital tools to express myself and tell a story. 

Usually, I like to get very creative when I get the opportunity to be. With mmm.page you can let your imagination run wild because there are so many customization options, and you can just put a bunch of things together however you envision it. But sometimes my mind just goes blank, and I can’t seem to think of anything. My mind is focused on so many things, especially now with finals coming up, graduation, work and trying to maintain my own personal life. So now my thoughts are focused on these other things rather than being able to think of something creative to make.

At first honestly, I didn’t know how I was going to portray a story. I was starting to overthink it, so I was just like why I don’t get a bunch of random gifs and images and put them together, but I didn’t like it. Sometimes all we need is a breather and to just chill. That’s when an idea popped into my head why don’t I make something focused on that to just vibe and chill.

I was thinking of some things that represent a chill vibe and for me things that make me feel at ease are exploring the city and to do that I take the subway. So, I got a gif of the subway with some guys just chilling and talking. With the train sign showing symbols of peace, love and positivity. The exit sign shows a sign of chill vibes only and a cat with shades on  because why not. mmm.page was fun to use and I could see myself creating random stuff on it in the future.

Hey everyone so let’s have a lil review time of my classmates websites. This is a good idea because we all need feedback because there is always something we can improve on.

I started by reviewing Safiya’s website. It has a cool layout which makes me feel like I need to step up with the background. I have to find out how to do it because it looks nice. I don’t vibe with the background color but it really does make it stand out and fit with the whole overall aesthetic she made. She also does movie reviews and is open-ended allowing her to do reviews, poetry and cooking which is cool because she has a set idea of what she will focus on.

The next person I will review is Duojay’s website. The whole layout is so cool it reminds me of space and galaxies. They also added an animation which was so well made and I think it demonstrated that they like space. The bright colors really make it pop. Although I feel the white font does get a little lost but the overall brightness makes it looks so cool and it will most certainly attract viewers. I wanted to add a pic of their site but it’s not letting me. But I will show you the vibe it gives off below.

So far my classmates have done so well with their sites. I’m glad we all have learned and grown in this class that it will allow us to be better at technology.

LONELY PANORAMIC VIEW

It’s truly amazing that one singular photo can tell a whole story from beginning to end. This is an amazing assignment because as students we get to showcase our photography skills. With this assignment I took two panoramic photos telling the story of loneliness from different perspectives.

STORY 1: FRIENDLESS

In the first picture we can see the belongings of a student in college. We only see his belonging and not him because if nobody see’s him is he really there. I feel that loneliness is something that many struggle with. But, having time to yourself allows for you to focus on doing things with no distraction. With time you will see that sometimes being alone is good because most times you won’t always have people in your corner. That doesn’t mean anything because with time you will find your way to good friends.

STORY 2:THE BEAUTY IN LONELINESS

In this photo we see a person by themselves surrounded with the beauty of the normal world. Even though you are by yourself it doesn’t mean you cannot find something interesting to keep you going. As long as you look ahead and focus on your self the loneliness shouldn’t annoy you but allow you to grow and focus on bettering yourself.
