For part 2 of my DS106 assignment. I decided to go with the silly movie poster. I really had fun with this assignment. Creativity, you are able to make something you are satisfied with and it’s your idea using images/pictures you want and like. Or think is funny. This is important because it gets you thinking, it gets you into a creative mind.

So I had a couple of ideas of what I wanted to do. I had the bucket list in mind as well before the silly movie poster idea grabbed my attention.

I went with the wolverine movie. Wolverine is one of my favorite marvel character. I added some Tom and Jerry images, Scooby Doo images and also some deadpool images. Tom and Jerry was one of my favorite cartoons growing up and so was Scooby Doo. Deadpool is also one of my favorite marvel characters.

This class has been nothing but good vibes and an amazing class. It’s helped me release stress and it’s a completely different class compared to other ones. One of the main reasons why it’s a different class is because of Professor Seslow. Our professor has been great and he’s truly one of my favorite professors ever. I know I will definitely remember Professor Seslow as the chill professor with who I have a hot drink on Tuesday mornings.

Also, the one professor who I know has the same or close addiction with amazon as me because he gets packages often throughout classes.

Plus I’ve learned stuff in this class that I will be using outside of class and in my free time. That’s something I can’t say for all classes. For example, I’ve learned how to create and customize a website, how to create decent blog posts, add memes, gifs, and how to use sites like Photopea to create masterpieces.

I feel like I did good on staying on track of the assignments and overall a good job on the assignments themselves. I enjoyed doing them all and can’t believe this is my last post for this class. It feels like just a week ago I started this semester and was nervous about posting. Through my post, I wasn’t trying to be anyone else just my authentic self. This class has helped me feel more secure in my writing and has motivated me to write more than I already do. Seeing my classmates’ website has also helped me get more motivated because I get excited about seeing others progress and great work. I can say that because I feel strong in this class and the work I’ve done I deserve an A…plus.

The skills that I’ve learned will definitely be in good use outside of this class. I already have plans on helping my boyfriend create his own website. In the future if anything I know that I can also help others create cites. I also plan to learn more on customization so I can escalate more. I will also most definitely be keeping and maintaining my website up to date. I’ll add more personal blogs and at the same time provide informational blogs like the one I did recently on a money-saving technique.

This semester like mentioned earlier I was able to create my own website. It is Vibewithcindy.com. The reason why I choose this domain name is that I wanted to create a site where people can go a vibe, relax, and hang out with me. I know that during times like these where we’re living through a pandemic, people feel alone and the mind can wander to depressive thoughts. I know how hard it is to struggle with depression and I want to be someone that can help others get through it. I know it something that can’t just simply vanish in a day. I like keeping a positive mindset and although it can get hard sometimes, I’ve learned throughout the years that the mind is powerful. As long as we keep our minds with knowledge and positive thoughts we can accomplish anything.

I want to be able to build my website to a point where I am comfortable with the outcome before linking any of my social media to it. I find that when you do things in private and really put work into it without others knowing, you are more content with the outcome whether positive or negative. And thats my goal, to build something I can be proud off.

Although, I still plan to use social media in every aspect of my post which will be seen in my first official post (still in the edit stage but getting alone)Social media is a major component of my blog and I plan on using the skills I learned from the tutorial to ensure that I do it properly.

In the mean time I did install smash balloon instagram feed and a section to watch media content.

I’m STRESSED

I’ve had writers’ block for a bit. This has caused me not to write as much as I used to and to not post on my website. Most of this had to do with stress from classes or situations at work or with my family. I also didn’t do much customizing to my website. However, that all changed once having my Christmas tree up. Yup, it’s true that the Christmas spirit exists. It motivated me to change my October- November images for my website. Now I have Christmas or winter theme pictures being the first thing viewers see on my site. Of course, these images are from the amazing website of Pixabay. I know I can always find good ones there.

The next step for me in terms of customizing my website was writing my very first official post. I’ve been thinking of what I want my first post on my website to be. After constant thinking of what my first post would be, I knew I had to do it on the Cash Envelope System. It’s a system thy has helped me tremendously and I really enjoy doing it. I was nervous about typing it because I don’t know how others will react to it. However, it is my site and I want to include things that helped me and make me feel good. Talking about a way to save money is something that helped me not overspend which is something I’ve always struggled on. I further explain my bad habits on my website. Overall, I’m proud of how I’ve customized my site so far. For the moment I feel like I’ve customized it to the point I love it. It’s a simple site and I plan on adding more posts soon. However for now please feel free to check out my recent post.

Building a website is pretty fun to me. I get to write about anything I want. What I do on a regular bases. What games I play. I movies or songs I am into. When you are able to just talk about things others could relate to.

I’ve updated my website a little more. Added more writing and images.

I added some more to the menus bar. I added more writing about sports and shared some of my favorite albums that I listen to. Also my favorite rappers. I also gave a little story of what sports I am into or have played growing up. Now I am mostly a gaming person. I play sports once in a while.I also went and added a latest post page which just has links of some of my pages. One menu bar is a group of some of my youtube videos.

The other day while writing papers, I took a break. During this break, I decided to look at other classmates’ website. I already visited a few classmate’s sites and I had such a good time doing so. Therefore I definitely knew that I was going to enjoy doing it again. This time around I came across. I’m interested in learning more about markets and investing. However, before doing so I need to do research and deepen my knowledge. This is why I’m going to be visiting Jeffrey’s website more often. One thing I’ll be going back to check is the difference between bulls and bears.

I really liked how organized his website is and how informational it is as well. I also liked how he included an add-on like ‘Read More’ which allows the viewers to get more information on the topic such as currencies, charts, fundamental and technical analysis, trends, and more. I feel like this is something everyone could add to their page and provide more information on any topic that might interest them and others. I will definitely be adding add ons like such to my site and I aspire to keep my page as organize as his.

I took a look at the visual assignment on the DS106 Assignment Repository because those are the ones that I’m most drawn to. Last time I used Pop Star Out of Place and used two of my favorite characters in the show Friends. This time I choose Places of Peace because that is what we all need right now.

Everyone has their own ideas on what their favorite place of peace might be, I decided to put some of my favorite spots that bring me inner peace.

The first step I did was look through my phone to find pictures of my favorite places. The photos I decided to add were pictures I took myself that bring me happiness. Each is in a different location in which I feel inner peace. I found around four that I really wanted to add and uploaded them to a folder on my desktop. I included some of the views from my house to New York City, the beaches in the Dominican Republic, a sunset from the grandparents’ place, and the FDR drive, all of which I can relax in and feel at peace.

To create this collage I used the site introduced to us earlier, Photopea. Last time I was really getting the hang of it and enjoyed using it. After I opened the Photopea website and I started getting creative. I always loved creating collages which is one of the main reasons why I selected this assignment. However, I’m used to doing collages from magazines, newspapers, or stuff I print out myself. So creating a collage on a website was different from what I’m used to. I created a new project and chose to create a social FB Event Image because I wanted something wide but not too big.

Then I added my photos and had some overlapping with each other. I was really happy with the way my collage ended up looking. Just looking at it brings me peace.

For this assignment I need to pick two assignments that I would like to create. One of the assignments that I picked is TV SHOW GIFS. I decided to go with this one because on my last assignment I had to create a GIF and it was very fun and I thought I would enjoy it even more if it is from my favorite show Game of Thrones! In the assignment I have to create4-6 GIFs of my favorite TV SHOW, so here we go!

OF course this one has to be my favorite, A young Jone Snow fighting and entire army. Makes me think of me against all my responsibilities.

This GIF I made it because this is exactly what happen to me this semester. I thought that online classes were going to be easy and I got slapped in the face.

The next project that I would like to do Is even more interesting because I have to pick an assignment that requires a skill that I have not learn yet, I pick a web design project.  The reason I picked this project is because i think that story telling through video is a very important skill set to have, because with very major social media has story telling as a part of sharing content.

I totally think that  a MEME is a form of art. Even though that everything in it is totally created by you, like the picture. You are still putting this pieces together. In my opinion a MEME is not just a picture with a writing on it. It needs to relate to an audience the picture needs to have a reference and the writing for the most part has to be funny or deliver a message. This is the MEME I created. I personally use MEMES while talking to my girlfriend all the time, I think is fun and it keeps the conversation interesting, I feel like we are always looking for the next MEME to send.

I think my CT101 is is amazing not just because of the professor but also because I feel like the format relates more to the real world than any other class that I have taken in all my years of college.

I made this GIF because I feel like it describes my emotions right now when it come to this class. I think the potential for this class is huge because of the wonderful professor we have. It was super fun creating this GIF I used  imugur  And i think it was such a useful and easy platform to use.

What make me happy about the internet? I would have to say that it has no limits.

You can be anyone, do anything, create endless things and learn any skill that you desire. The internet in my mind is the greatest invention of the human race. I can not imagine a world with out it. Imagine wanting to know what happen in the great depression and you do not have access to the internet ? One you would need to go to a library find a book on the topic or two ask somebody who may know, which is not always 100% accurate. I believe that the greatest page ever created on the internet is google, why you main ask? simple “google it”. That is the general answer when someone wants to know or learn something and for that thank you google!

Are Memes Art?

So the pressing question of week 4 is “Are Memes a form of art? 

The simple answer to this is Yes, yes it is! 

If we go back to the simple definition of the word “Art” it is defined as “the expression or application of human creative skill and imagination, typically in a visual form.” Also, In the words of Luigi’s, “Art is whatever makes you think and evokes emotion.” That’s basically what memes do!

Before you disagree, hear me out!

Memes are capable of relaying any thought with a funny sound. Meme models are basically a blank canvas, and making something that is successful from these bits and pieces of references will take a little craft. The fact that you can use, say, a scene from an iconic reference and use a different and even unrelated topic on it and still make it fun for many, makes memes a language of its own.  It also becomes an interesting way for everyone to share our feelings. The software to create this art form is very much user friendly as well, so anyone can be an Artist.

This one was funny because if you watch Fresh Prince, Carlton is a good & obedient child and is very proper. So, him not going to bed on time makes him rebellious.

Overall this was a fun assignment, I got to explore what a meme is and also create my own. I love how I can embrace my creativity in this class! Can’t wait to see what’s ahead!

To my understanding vaporwave is a technique used by content creators to explore imagery that is based on 3D-rendered objects, popular artwork, and early 90’s inspiration. From the examples on the website and from the pre-recorded class session, I feel that each piece is very retro and loud in terms of colors and images. I enjoy that vaporwave explores different textures and patterns within one design. From a journalist’s perspective, I feel that each vaporwave is unique in its own way. I like how each element compliments one another, although it may seem random at first, I feel that each element is a part of a bigger story.  It actually a very intricate and delicate process, I appreciate each artist who works on this genre of art. The version I have seen of this art is below, it’s popular within social media.
