Assigment #11 – Wow

Musica Relax GIF by TikTok Italia

Wow, I’m just impressed. When I looked at the website and how it was structured, I love it. But what I enjoy more was the idea behind the website. I did not think of this, but a song-themed website is an interesting idea. Like, everybody listens to a song, so it will be a good idea to make it. Also, there’s something I would like to copy from Shania Choudhury. He added a video from YouTube and post it on his pages. This is intriguing because every week he will update that. That makes users that know about the website visit it each week to see what’s new. So many cool concepts I see from this.

(For some reason the video won’t show)

Metallica: Enter Sandman (Official Music Video) – YouTube

(For some reason the video won’t show)

I’ll like to suggest this song for the next week. See? The mechanic that you used make for things like this to happen. Your website is now more interactive than most because you have this feature. I’m definitely going to use something like this for my website. I would like to choose this song because I like it a lot and the song reminds me of Mariano Rivera, one of my favorite pitcher of all time. Also, something you can include for your website is a voting system. Maybe people can vote which song is for next week. I recommend checking out: Jaimuslux – Food for the Soul

Assignment #2: GIFs and Communication

I think about this CT101 class, it makes me feel like I want to try out something new. Well, this is my first time doing this class. I never created memes to make people like it..

Season 4 Wow GIF by The Office - Find & Share on GIPHY

I really like trying to communicate through words, but in this class, I like hearing about new ways to create our own memes and show that it can help us to show who we are, and what that can look like.

This CT101 class is more fun than the other classes I have taken over close to 4 years(I think). I want to try to continue being in the CT classes.

Assignment #11- The Class That Has A Bunch Of Creative People

I took the time and looked through some of my fellow classmates websites, and I am super impressed! The creativity is spot on and I don’t I would have been able to come up with some of these ideas.

As you can see, I did terrible *cries*

Brandon’s website which is: Jaimuslux main objective is about music. Upon arriving to the homepage of his site, I automatically fell for the Dino trap and spent like 20 minutes playing the game while listening to the song of the week!

Brandon’s website allowed me to discover a new artist that I have never listened to before and I’m excited to discover more musics from this artisit.

Another classmates website I surfed through was Alejandra: Alejandra’s Creativity.

Her thought of creating  a recommendation tab was vey unique!

I am usually busy with work and I don’t get to listen or discover the new musics that’s released and after reading Alejandra’s list, I added some new music to my library!

On that note, make sure to check out my new blog post @ jidastyles.com!

Assignment #10 Pt. 2- 50 Shades of Noodes

It’s not what you think guys- I’m back to talking about my neutral palette. My website is starting to come together, especially after posting my first blog post!

Synopsis

Winter is finally here and I am all for winter fashion. I’m one of those that loves to layer clothing. Each season or year has its own trends and it seems like 2021 was all about brining back the 70’s-90’s vibes. I mean, the bootcut and yoga pants, with halter tops, and beaded necklaces are really giving off a vibe and lets not forget about the chunky bratz doll boots!

BUT, it can become costly while trying to keep up with trends. I believe having staple pieces in ones wardrobe is crucial. I’m talking about the solid color shirts (long sleeves, turtlenecks, basics crewnecks) and the solid color pants (of course neutral or black!).

As Chanel says, “Modesty is the highest elegance”

I displayed direct links of where to shop from with some explanations as well and ended my blog post off with drakes song.

Here’s a preview of the site!

Assignment 11#- Adding Social Feeds & Posts to WordPress

It is quite simple, remarkable, and pleasant to navigate through the websites. Founders of both websites are doing an excellent job while keeping up with current software.

http://naderphotography.net/

My favorite blog post on Nader’s site is Socotra Island. I loved how he organized his website,  it’s very creative and attractive. I love the aesthetics of the website, the website is very organized and unique. I’m intrigued to read his next blog post. I love the pictures he has on the display of Socotra Island. The landscape and insects are beautiful.

http://alejandracreativity.com/

My favorite blog post on Alejandra’s site is the first blog post. Alejandra has a great introduction to your website. I love that she incorporated memes and gifs into the blog to express her feelings.

Chapter 2: First phase of my natural hair journey:

My hair was growing like weeds with my simple hair regimenMy simple hair regimen included water, coconut oil, and a hair moisturizer. I used the LOC method to grow my hair. LOC stands for liquid, oil, and cream, this combination will keep your hair strands moist while ensuring that you retain hair length.  Every week I would apply this to my hair to keep my hair moist and not dry. If your hair is dry, it will break off and you will not see the hair growth. Every two weeks I would shampoo my hair to cleanse it and deep condition my hair to put back moisture in my hair. Low manipulation also helps with hair growth and protective styling. I stayed away from heat styling tools to maintain my healthy curly hair. After one month of continuously practicing my hair routine, my hair grew a ½ inch.  I took a leap of faith by cutting all my hair off not knowing if it will grow back. I was excited to see results from taking care of my hair.

How I was looking in the mirror when I discover I had new hair growth. I felt excited.

Assignment #10- Progress on Jida Styles

Hi besties, we’re in our final month of the semester and I’ve been avoiding my website

It’s not that I didn’t want to do it, it was just overwhelming because there is just SO many things to explore within WordPress!

But after two days of exploring (I still didn’t;t get through everything), I figured out somethings I liked and didn’t like.

I started off with my website using the new block editor instead of the Classic editor, but I felt like an odd ball and wanted to use the editor the Prof. Seslow suggested. BUT I ended up liking the new block editor because I became more comfortable with it.

As for plug-ins,

I downloaded a lot of Fonts, however, some of them were not compatible with the 2021 theme OR they were just complicated to instal *rolls eyes*.

This was literally my face after I gave up with the process.

However, I really want to change the fonts on my pages so I might take another shot at it again, to please my aesthetic urge.

Assignment #10 – Exploring WordPress

You know that Dinosaur game you play on google when you have no internet. Yes, it’s on my website thanks to a plugin available. 😎 There are actually other games you can add to your website as well, you should go check it out. So that’s what I worked(and played) on this week.

Come visit my website and play while you listen to the song of the week!

Have you ever been in the car listening to the radio turning the knob of FM radio looking for any decent song? But all the radio stations are playing the same ole songs from 10 years ago or they are literally all playing the same songs over and over. I feel you, I’ve stooped listening to the radio long ago and only listen to GOODMUSIC and music that is food for the soul. Come check out my WELCOME post on my new website. Come join our community where we vibe and share GOODMUSIC only. Feel free to share anything about music; your favorite song, artist, or concert you have ever been to. Under my new welcome blog post.

Assignment # 11 Social Media N’ WordPress

I really can’t believe the thoughtful work done by many of my classmates. There is a lot of great work done on the websites, and for sure, most of the websites are very impressive and have creative structures and website setup. Many had shared some outstanding blogs that they liked to share with us, so let’s take the time and check out their website, support them and leave some comments on their website comment section.

One of the website structures that caught my attention was Victor’s. The home page is impressive, simple, and unique. I like how Victor has highlighted all the menu sections in black and set them in the center of his page. The fact that there isn’t any background picture makes it catch people’s attention.

Another website I like is Alejandro’s website. I like the podcast and the music artist introduction sections. It looks impressive, and I’ve learned a lot about great artists like Adele, Clairo, Kevin Karl, and many others. And of course, let’s not forget about Alejandra’s first post, where she shared her thoughts about CT 101 and how she overthink the website building process. I’m sure we all experience stress before we start working on the website to realize it is fun but undoubtedly time-consuming.

Be sure to explore some of the other websites and let us know what you think about their website progress in your post.

Assignment #9 – WordPress Customizing Fun

WordPress gave us too many options of themes to choose from. This week I looked through hundreds of themes and I’m still not sure which one I should go with. 🤦🏾‍♂️

Abc Zac GIF by The Bachelorette

I have one that I am using for now. I’ll most likely change it later on.

I have decided that my website is going to be about my journey with music concerts. Sharing my reviews, videos, and pictures of the concerts. I wanted to add a calendar of the future concerts that I will be going to. I had to google how to do it but it was pretty simple.

First: Download the events calendar plugin.

Second: Go to the Appearance tab on the side to have it shown on your website by adding it to your menu.

Here are the final results! I already added some concerts I’m going to this month. Take a look at jaimuslux.com 😎

Assignment #9: I’m back

Hey

I’m back! Been a while, hasn’t it? I have been overwhelmed with readings and essays for English classes. Thankfully, I’ve managed to get myself situated. So let’s get to it.

The Ramos Hold

I’m kind of miffed that so far, the web builder doesn’t aid me in going for the look I wanted. Surely the more I learn as I go on, the better I’ll get at this. But from what I know now, I have this bland/simple-looking website. Although to be fair, that is what my style intends to do.

Something like this.

Previously, I’ve mentioned how I want my website to feel, but  I haven’t said how I want it to look. Style-wise, I want it to look like video game text boxes. I had planned for it to give off the impression of my readers being in an RPG-styled game alongside the illusion as if they were talking to someone. Sadly, the website doesn’t have the font that you see above. My website has more of an MTA-sign feel due to the font.

Why would I want to do that for a blog? Make my blog feel like I’m talking to people. Well, that’s how reading feels. At least to me. It’s all in the perspective the book uses. A first-person view gives me the impression of someone telling me a story they have experienced. A second-person view makes it feel like someone is telling a story or message about me to me. And finally, a third-person view feels like someone is telling a story about someone else’s life. In a sense, books provide a person to talk to.

Opinion

Aside from being my blog, I want this website also to be a portfolio of sorts. I plan on putting my works here. My study being where you’ll hear my opinion of other pieces of media, and my library being where you’ll find my works. Convenient no?

Assigment #10: The first post!

Blog Blogpost GIF by HeyItsMeShanie

I feel like as time moves on, my post is getting shorter. But there is a reason why this happens, it is just the technology we are using. Adapting to new technology is no easy task. But we are getting there. I think that with time the transition to make a new blog post → customized → start blogging will get better, sadly we don’t have much time to experience that.

Here is what I have been using my time to make sure I do all of that at once. You can go into this blogpost and there will be my first, well technically not first, but it will be a post. Showing of what I want my website to be about. It was a bit hard coming with an idea of what to do with the website. But not because I did not know what to make it about, but which one to choose from all the options I had.

Assignment #8 – My Domain Registration

My experience of registering my own domain, and setting up my web hosting account was easy as pie.

I could use a nice piece of apple pie right now

I have decided that my website is going to be about music and the concerts I go to. From the last blog post I had decided on the domain name JaiMusic. However. it was taken…😡

All good though, I used a random website generator and found my new domain name.

I love it! 😍

Im ready! Lets get to work.

Assignment #10- Pages & Categories and First Blog Post!

Some changes I made were changing the menu by adding subpages for my recommendations and adding News, Podcasts and Music. For each I also added some “items” I wanted to and I think that each page is visually pleasing. I’m very happy about the solid background color I chose because it does make the gifs I include pop-out even more which is good because it grabs people’s attention. I’m thinking about re-publishing two of my posts from CT 101 which would be the one about creating gifs and the one about creating memes. I think people would like to learn how to make some as well.

 Dear CT101 community,

I just published my very first blog post here on my website: http://alejandracreativity.com come and check it out and feel free to comment! My first ever blog post on my website is short and straight to the point about why I created my website. Hope you all enjoy it!

Assignment #9- Customizing my WordPress Page

I was a bit nervous and excited at the same time about getting to customize my website page. At first I was not exactly clear about what I wanted to include but as the days went on I thought about the things I liked, and decided to make my page about those things. For my website I picked a solid color for the background because I wanted my future posts to pop-out. I left the format like it was because I did not want it to feel like I was working with the CUNY commons outline because there are too many tools that I usually don’t even use.

A screenshot of my Home page, with a Welcome gif.

My website will contain things I enjoy like photography and recommendations for news, music and podcasts. I think that overall I want the website to be very open to add as many things as I would like. Using the tutorial provided by the professor everything went smoothly and I had a lot of fun switching things around for my website. There wasn’t a step I found difficult to be honest, I think that when it comes to writing a blog post it will be difficult.
