assignment 6 ART

so far since starting this class I learn excellent new programs that help me do my daily hobbies of editing and made it more fun and less hard for me and  I’m looking forward to learning many more. This week’s theme project subject is ART  and to do this we chose to add different websites and combine their content together.

WHATS IN THE WORLD IS creativity it is known to be things that inspire us and at times we can be uninspired we lose our passion for things and try to regain it to stop being uninspired stop being uncreative

now ON TO THE SHOW

this week we were given two sites  Figma and mmm page both of which I hate cause they were hard and didn’t let me use a lot of art stuff I wanted to you and that annoyed me a lot but in the end, I chose the Figma

when I think of creating things I listen to music when I’m in car rides or I dance or I watch old cartoons my fav would be betty boop.

the background I chose I chose none I want a lot  to fit in and be messy but neat and fit in a way that says to me the tools I used to create this art were  the pixabay  and the background remover the removebg

I used me for I am me but I wear different clothes and become a new person I love the starts astrology and what it was used in history to go home when you at sea or to tell prophecies.

Assignment #6- Digital Immediacy

Digital immediacy-

Creativity– is thinking outside of the box, putting a spin on things that nobody else has thought to do

Immediacy is the urgency one has when it comes to doing something.

Intuition is- almost like a gut feeling telling you when something may feel right or wrong

The order they go in is Creativity, intuition, and then immediacy. An idea comes then your gut tells you if you should go through with it then you feel the urgency to get it done.

Being alive means doing what you wanna do, Boring or fun, happy or sad, without worrying about what others may think.

I created something that symbolized family because family is something that’s important to me. It was a little hard to figure out how somethings worked But I got a hang of it

Assignment #5- Ds106

This was the first project that I did from daily create. I wasn’t able to save the end product because I ran out of storage. But a lot of these projects require you to learn how to photoshop and I used Photopea
I was able to learn how to insert photos onto other photos.
I think these skills come in handy because you may need to use them when it comes to other classes or even to put on a job resume as a skill they may not know they even needed.
I think that doing one of these from a different section should be enough for us to learn new things. You’d need different kinds of internet tools but it would be pretty cool to learn how to use more internet tools.

Assignment #4-more practice

What I’m passionate about in this world is family ( just a funny family song i saw on YouTube)

simpson family hugging

Family is a very important bond that some people, unfortunately, don’t have. Family is there to help when you’re down and can cheer you up in times of need and even create happy moments. and to take care of each other support each other.

I’m also passionate about learning new things and have learned so many things about the internet from this class. Before this class I didn’t know much about A.I or giphy or even that there is so many different websites to create so many different things.

Assignment # 7- Mid-semester reflection post

boy wiping sweat off forehead

I am doing okay in CT101. I have learned how to use many internet tools like giphy. I have learned how to communicate through an image. I’m still trying to get a hang of blogging.

muppet typing on typewriter

I am a little behind in Ct101 I have a lot of catching up to do. What i’ve learned is how to use giphy and use them in my posts weekly. I did not know what a hyperlink was before this class or how to blog, I think the grade I deserve is  a C at least until I catch up on all my work because I do come to class and try to participate, it’s just my work that’s lacking the most.

Compared to my first post I do see some progress in my posts, I can expand more by adding more elements.

I don’t comment on my classmates posts and will start doing that, I also don’t participate as much But, I do participate when I have a question or have something to add.

I will make improvements by spending more time on my assignments.

These are the assignments I did,

Im missing 4,5,6

Assignment 1,  Assignment 2, Assignment 3

Assignment #2- Gifs

Storybook gif

From A person who isn’t used to using the internet, Gifs are fun and easy and also an easy way to communicate. And I think they will continue to go far for that reason.

Stories can be told with gifs because they can cover a lot of words and one gif can be one whole conversation and can say so much.

Cartoon checklist

I think whats makes a succcessful blog is being simple and to the point especially for people who have a hard time with the internet. And if theres not a lot going on it will be easy for others to stay engaged. I don’t think I was covering many aspects because I was just trying to complete assignment.

groot clapping

I liked the first day of CT101, compared to my other classes the load work is not as demanding and I’m allowed to be more creative and can express myself more in this class. I enjoyed hearing about what to expect and enjoyed hearing I’ll learn more about the internet and what it has in store.

Assignment #7 — Mid-Semester Re-Cap Time!

Mid-Semester means … we are almost done! well more than halfway done at this point …

How am I doing in CT101?

I believe I am doing very well with CT101. I have completed all 6 assignments plus this one I am all caught up. I have the tendency to be very stern with my homework, I don’t like for my homework to pile up because than I get too stressed out and I feel like pulling my hair out. This semester I am taking five classes; so homework’s are a priority.

What have I learned and retained the most?

I have always had a problem with retaining information, it is something I have struggled with my whole life. The videos Prof. Ryan records for class are such an excellent thing for me because I can always refer back to them. I do remember how to use the websites and their software’s, but a little reinforcement never hurt anyone.

What new skills have I developed, cultivated and displayed regularly in my weekly posts?

Out of all the programs we have worked with, Giphy has been my favorite ones so far, also removebg because I could literally remove the background of any desire image by just clicking “remove background” can it get any complex than that?! and back to Giphy, I have learned to make GIFs by embedding videos to make GIFs.

What do I know now that I did not know before taking this class?

HOW TO USE WORDPRESS. I remember taking graphic design classes when I was in high school and that’s the furthest, I ever worked with technology. It has been a really interesting journey from the beginning of the semester to now.  All the programs with have used in the class I have never used before it, and I am looking forward to what the rest of the semester has to offer.

What grade do I believe I am maintaining and why do I deserve that grade?

I have completed all 6 assignments and participate in class, engage in all types of discussions because I am a curious soul who needs to know the ins and outs of everything.

Do I see my weekly blogging work expanding creatively? If so, please explain why –  or am I stuck in a loop where my posts seem to look the same most of the time, how will I change that?

I would say as weeks pass and we learn a new program with the usage of them my work has expanded creatively. The more programs we use the flexibility and ability to get more creative we have. I felt stuck in a loop when it came to working with DS106 at the beginning but rewatching the class recording over and over again helps a lot!

Are there any assignments that you are missing? If so, list them.

Because of the way I work and the way I am when it comes to my classes and the commitment I have with them, I am not missing any assignments. I was back up with assignment #5 and #6 but I caught up during the weekend.

Are you commenting regularly on your classmates posts? Are you responding back to comments given to you by the professor & your classmates?

I do not comment on my classmates posts regularly but I will work on that soon. I do comment back on the feedback I get from prof. Ryan and the classmates that comment on my posts. That is the one thing I can improve at and also getting to class on time instead of 20 minutes late. My goal over the next weeks is to comment on my classmates’ posts.

Assinment#6- Synthesis

The ability to use different digital tools to convey engrossing and fascinating stories is referred to as digital storytelling creativity. This can involve enhancing the storytelling process with multimedia components including pictures, movies, and music. A short video that uses visual effects and sound design to communicate a message or emotion is an example of creative digital storytelling.

Digital innovation can inspire narrative by giving us fresh, creative means of getting our point through. Digital tools allow us to build immersive and interactive experiences that captivate audiences and bring our tales to life. For instance, using virtual or augmented reality can take our audience to many locations and eras, making the storytelling experience more potent and unforgettable.

Behance,     Adobe

The ability to produce and share tales in real-time or nearly real-time, frequently through social media or other online platforms, is referred to as “digital storytelling immediacy.” For example, live video, in-the-moment updates, and social media posts can all be used to give the storytelling process a sense of immediacy or urgency. A journalist using live streaming video to report breaking news as it occurs could serve as an illustration of the immediacy of digital storytelling. Because it enables storytellers to interact with their audience in real time and foster a sense of shared experience and community, this kind of storytelling might serve as an inspiration for digital storytelling. Also, it may present a chance for more direct and unadulterated storytelling.

  1. Facebook: , TikTok: , Instagram: , Twitter:

Digital storytelling intuition is the capacity to employ emotional intelligence and intuition to tell stories that connect with audiences more deeply. To do this, one could draw on one’s own experiences, empathy, and intuition to produce stories that are more real and accessible. A personal essay or memoir that incorporates the author’s innermost feelings and thoughts into the story can serve as an illustration of digital storytelling intuition. Digital storytellers can be inspired by this kind of storytelling by being inspired to trust their emotions and intuition when developing engaging stories for their audience.

Being alive in the world of digital storytelling can mean having the power to write and share tales that touch others deeply, bridging space and time. Definitions and interpretations of digital storytelling originate from a range of sources, including academics, professionals, and users. Using digital tools to create interactive and immersive narratives, for instance, may be the focus of one interpretation, while another may place more emphasis on the value of personal experiences in storytelling.

By learning new digital tools and techniques, exploring various genres and forms, and experimenting with narrative approaches, I can expand my creative potential and imagination for digital storytelling. By actively searching out new experiences and viewpoints, working with other creatives, and pushing the limits of my own narrative skills, I can take action. I may, for instance, take part in seminars or webinars on digital storytelling, join online creative groups, or develop my own digital storytelling project utilizing a novel technology or method.

For my assignment, I created a digital narrative telling using Figma. A design tool called Figma provides a variety of imaginative options for creating user interfaces, digital products, and visual narratives. Designers may collaborate on projects with others successfully and efficiently because to its collaboration features.

In order to complete my task, I used various web browsers, including Giphy, Photopea, and Figma. My web browser has a great deal of creative potential because it gives me access to so many online tools and resources for making and sharing digital art. I may use it to research fresh concepts and sources of inspiration, work with others, and test out various digital tools and platforms. For instance, I can utilize my browser to learn new storytelling techniques, access online seminars or tutorials, and find new creative communities to work with.

i really like to work here and i enjoyed my assignment with many creative potential tools.

Assignment #3

Are Memes Art?

Memes may not require as much thought or effort as other forms of art, but in my opinion, they still qualify as art.

There is no doubt that a tale can be told through memes. There are so many different memes created using the same image, but the majority of them have totally diverse meanings because so many individuals view the same image from various angles.

Even in the video we watched in Class the guy mentioned how memes are art. and I agree with him 100% because you can communicate through memes as well.

And there definitely are people that may use memes as a way to harm others but, memes can be used to inspire others as well just like “art” does.

The start of my life was on the Big Island of Hawaii, where I hold a deep reverence for the island deity Pele, who continues to be vibrant and active through her ongoing eruptions.

Being alive can feel like being a unicorn, prancing gracefully through fields of imagination, or like a playful cat, dancing joyfully to the rhythm of life. It can be as satisfying as savoring a delicious ice cream cone, as invigorating as stretching through yoga asanas, or as fun as playing games with friends. Life can be a beautiful explosion of fun times, and being alive means embracing every moment with wonder and excitement.

STEP 4: Once you’re happy with your collage, save it in a suitable format, such as a JPEG or PNG file, to share it with others or print it out.

Let’s make some ART – Assignment #6

I am pleased with the programs we have explored so far, definitely looking forward to to learning many more. This week’s theme is ART — with incorporating different websites and their content together.

How does creativity work? Where do most people get their creativity from? Is there a such thing as being uncreative? I truly believe that each one of us are creative someway, somehow. I believe some of us are an inspiration for others creativity! WE ARE ALL MUSES.

I love Julia Fox, she is an Aquarius Queen!

Getting back on track; Figma and mmm.page are both free, but I only ended up making an account for Figma because mmm.page was giving me problems (not sure if I was the only one). One website I have fallen in love with is Pixabay because I used it for last week’s assignment, and I am familiar with the problem. When I think of creativity, I think of Outerspace, I think of the galaxy, the moon, the universe … all these elements we were blessed with, so naturally when I thought of a background to choose for this project, I chose …

I love the tools that we are given by prof Ryan, I love how easy it is to work with Removebg, I uploaded a picture someone took of me and took the background off, it was as simple as 1,2,3 actually I think 1,2,3 takes longer to say LOL than to press “remove background” on the generator.

There it is … before and after
I been playing with Removebg, just picking random photos and taking their background off. Now below will be my first half of the assignment by using Figma, Photopea and Removebg (which just became my favorite site).
I call this image the three faces of happiness featuring yours truly. Now that I have completed inserting, moving and overlapping the key elements in the photo above, it is time to see how it would look when applying the filters from Photopea.
I chose to the Pallete Knife filter with the filter it went from the three faces of happiness to the three figures. Now the final result after playing with all filters is here: I used Photopea to incorporate three different filters and combine them with the original image. I incorporated it as a background; it was a very interesting process.

Digital ds106 – Assignment #5

Analyzing which generator to use from DS106 site had me stressed.
Trying to identify what two project ideas to work on has been SUPER overwhelming because I have never had the chance to work with the site before. But ultimately, I managed to complete the assignment and enjoyed the process. Also, this skill could be applied to my resume as a tool/software that I am familiar with so that is always a plus. Once again thinking of finding two project ideas to work on where one has to be completed and another one “that I would want to work on, has made me feel
                                                                  SUPER OVERWHELMED!
Nevertheless, I got started with rewatching the class recording. Thank God and Prof Ryan for the video recordings, they help so much! I rewatched – fast forward – rewind – freeze – and do it all over again until I finally got it.
ds106 Assignments: Populate the landscape inspired my first project. I followed step by step what Prof. Ryan did but instead of picking a Bob Ross painting I dogged into beach paintings.  I came across Beach Scene, 1862 by French painter Eugene Boudin
Once I came across it, I knew this would be the image to work with.
I love the beach even though I don’t get in the water most of the time just the fact that I can seat under the sun and receive the radiant rays’ shimmer on my skin with pureness and delicate while listening to the waves. Then BOOM! I opened up Photopea … which I was afraid of in the beginning because of all the layers to it.
I selected New Project and inserted the Beach Painting, literally DRAGGED the image in without a problem.
Meanwhile I had Photopea open, on another tab I had Pixabay opened. As soon as I picked the image above I kind of had an idea of what I wanted my final project to look like … Once on Pixabay I searched up extraterrestrial (transparent) so it had no background to it & it could be credible.
Now this is where this bad boy above came in handy! Once I had that one ready, I said mhmm… what could possibly be beaming up …
You guessed it right !! An awesome SLOTH! hahaha — unusual right? I love sloths … they are such a mood sometimes. Once I dragged all of them into Photopea and played around a little … meaning I inserted them multiple times because they didn’t come up but then I came to realize a very specific thing.

Also look at the video below, it will help you with browsing around Photopea.

Make sure the image you want to move around is on the top or else it won’t be either visible or you won’t be able to move it as prefer. I know you guys have been waiting for the big big big final project! here it is …
I am pleased with the results, sometimes simplicity is sophistication. I liked my end result … Imagine being at the beach and you seen an extraterrestrial ship beaming a sloth! I would probably grab the sloth and get beamed together :). I do see myself making more of these types of projects, once I have an idea, I like to execute it.

Assignment #7: The Mid-Semester Reflection Post

How am I doing in CT101? Time for evaluation. I always try to be humble and leave it up to the judges. However, based on the work thus far. I believe I’m doing exceptional in the course thus far.

The first assignment: What kickstarted it all, and a key point I want to address is that I was able to through these mediums of It made my work more artistic, and brought points across as reinforcements. That is sensational, in my eye.

The class has been sensational I must say. A ton has been learned, and retained. I learned that there are creative outlets like the I retained the ability to hyperlink, fuse memes into my text and create harmony in a post. Also to edit text into a meme. I retained that feedback overall strengthens my work and reinforces the strengths I have provided in each assignment.

Take assignment #2, for instance.

Time to assess the new skills I have either developed or displayed in my consistent uploads. I have unlocked I think my level of humor and creativity when I uploaded various posts. Also my structure of writing and gelling the video or hyper links has been pristine I believe. As well as meme’s too.

Grades are tough to determine, to take the role of the professor in this hypothetical is tricky. I hope it’s in agreeable, but something in the range of a A letter grade. A slight knock on attendance once or twice. Bar that, I don’t see much to sway that evaluation. I try to show ambition by developing my posts in two phases. The initial one that addresses the bulk of the request in the proposal. And the latter, to refine and edit anything missed.

I think my weekly posts always have potential to expand creatively. I believe in the X-factor. I wouldn’t wane to the abyss of saying I’m in a loop. The foundations are hyperlinks, memes, and spacing. Yet with new elements proposed like the DS106 options, and different combinations of the fixture elements that have remained over the first half of the semester, options are there to make new golden product in our posts. Being flexible is the key to avoid such a loop and being trapped. Incorporate, the DS106 options or something in the second half of the semester and all will be fluid, I think.

In assignment 5, I value the options proposed with two sites and whatever you are more comfortable with, you are able to venture towards. And the opportunity to include personal stories to make the work on display more human. Therefore relatable.

Thankfully, I am on pinpoint track with my assignments. I kept up my work-rate and always aim to demonstrate quality that is produced quickly. I’m writing this after a taxing day at work, if that’s a testament of my commitment to the cause. Your call, please.

When it comes to commentary, it’s something I will have to investigate further. I respond to comments by the professor, and have initially responded to a few comments on my work via fellow classmates. I suppose I comment on the I really appreciated the comment from Professor Seslow, on Assignment 6. Even on Assignment 3, (while I’m searching for hyperlinks of each assignment) I see I accumulated 9 comments. Some regarding the structure of that assignment.

As a person, I appreciate backing and reinforcement of my efforts, as I invest a lot of energy and commitment to my work in my wholehearted belief.

I think my level of participation has been relatively fair. I have responded in agreement or disagreement to various questions proposed to the class. I think there is more room to grow in this department.

This is the time to be accountable.

I think I keep my head held high and go into the class with the same level of intrigue. I think content wise, I’m flying and doing my utmost to revise instantly all posts. As soon as I can I try to digest the assignment mandate, and tackle it in quick fashion. Yet my first draft is also quite through. I think Assignment 4 in particular took two or so hours alone to format it and make sure it’s refined. Yet classy as well.

It’s been great at the halfway point, let’s all have a great rest of the semester! Power through and defy the odds.

Assignment #4: Blogging About Our Passion

One thing I can say I am very passionate about is food, who does not love. food am I right? I like looking up recipes to recreate them with my own twist. Aside from cooking I do enjoy going out to eat especially in the spring and summer to admire the views of NYC.

The photo I inserted above is from the restaurant Queens Bully located in Forest Hills, NY. When I go out to eat I typically order food I do not eat on a weekly basis, that is why I chose the rack of lamb. I’ve been here about three times so far I’d say and the food does not disappoint.
In this photo I went to the iconic Sugar Factory located in Resorts World Casino. Ironically the time and day I went it was completely empty. The Sugar Factory is known for its drinks that smoke like a witches cauldron.  I chose to get a hot chocolate, with a burger and fries. I know it sounds like a weird combination but overall it was not that bad.
Unfortunately I do not have any photos or videos of any recipes I recreated since usually when I do cook I’m particularly focused on the food itself. My passion for food started when I was a junior in high school around the early Fall. I realized since I got older eventually I’d have to learn how to cook since I do enjoy eating. As of right now I only know to make basic foods like lasagna, burgers, pasta, lamb chops, and steak. My goal this summer is to actually start learning how to cook food from my mom’s country which is Guyana.

I’ve always said to myself some of the foods shown in cartoons, movies, and animations look so appetizing. The beignets from the Princess and The Frog look so warm and delightful.  I’ve had beignets before but they come frozen and are fried but never had them made from scratch.

Ever since the covid lockdown lifted I have became lazy and rather order food or go out to eat instead of doing groceries to cook. I realized how much this is effecting me financially and health wise. Since the semester is slowly coming to an end I’ll have some extra free time where I can start meal planning and prepping. Sometimes there are days where I literally can just eat everything in my snack stash literally.

Its Mid-Semester Re-Cap Time!

Its Mid-Semester Re-Cap Time!

Wow, here we are at the midpoint of our CT-101 semester! Time… goes by waaaaaay too fast.. Let’s take a minute to reflect, let’s take a minute to regroup, catch up, let’s induce a class reflection!

Let us ask ourselves the following questions, and reflect:

“How am I doing in CT101?  What have I learned? What new skills have I developed, cultivated and displayed regularly? How does this contribute to my weekly progress? How do I assess my performance through a self-reflection in this class?”

The assessment part is very tangible and clear as we have been producing results over the last 7.5 weeks in the form of blogging, commenting, creating visual imagery, discussion via various forms and class participation.

Let’s take stock, follow me below:

The CT 101 Course Schedule page is where everything is – this is the CT 101 HUB – this is the space where all the assignments and learning details take form each week – (just in case you forgot) – this is where you can recap and catch up on all assignments (and also access all of the class recordings) –  https://ct101.commons.gc.cuny.edu/course-schedule/

In fact, before we move into the next phase of our course, I want to take a week and reflect upon what has already been accomplished, as well as take accountability for what might be missing and in need of improvement.

Let’s title this next post:

Assignment #7 – The Mid-Semester Reflection Post

Assignment Details:

In a new blog post titled:

Assignment #7 – The Mid-Semester Reflection Post”, please assess and reflect upon your last 7.5 weeks here in CT 101.

Please answer and address the following questions below, and also provide hyperlinks back to all of your previous completed blog posts.

This will help illustrate some of the questions below as you tell a compelling story here in the CT 101 blog space: (the use of imagery is helpful and needed but please don’t default to using too many GIFs or memes to fill in the gaps, the emphasis should be on the written word for this reflection.)

How am I doing in CT101?

What have I learned and retained the most?

What new skills have I developed , cultivated and displayed regularly in my weekly posts?

What do I know now that I did not know before taking this class?

What grade do I believe I am maintaining and why do I deserve that grade?

Do I see my weekly blogging work expanding creatively? If so, please explain why –  or am I stuck in a loop where my posts seem to look the same most of the time, how will I change that?

Are there any assignments that you are missing? If so, list them.

Are you commenting regularly on your classmates posts? Are you responding back to comments given to you by the professor & your classmates?

Are you participating during the class time? If not, explain why.

This is the time to be accountable. How will you make needed improvements?

Have fun with this!

Feel free to include useful relatedness in the form of links, images, video or Make Something New to express how you feel about this post! (a technique learned from the dS106 assignment bank perhaps?)
