When I heard we were making our own domains at first I was wondering what to do what to do??? but It came to me immediately I knew what I wanted to do you guys are most likely wondering as well if it came to him that fast what could it be?? COME ON NOW
So to start off I want to start from the beginning and explain myself. I was playing Roblox with my best friend we were on a Discord call and we were just chatting it up like normal. I decided I wanted to make a stupid funny-looking avatar so we went into this game where you can choose outfits for your avatar and then buy them if you would like to.
While I was choosing my character’s look I ended up with a buff cat wearing a mushroom hat and a shirt that has a cute duck holding a knife. I decided to call him Mushroom Cat and ever since he’s been my mascot in a way the pfp I have on this website is Mushroom Cat. My online friend from south Africa made it for me and I’ve used it ever since.
The character you are seeing here is MUSHROOM CAT. This is why I decided with my domain name as BuffMushCat only because somehow Mushroomcat was taken I won’t lie it’s got me salty but IT’S OKAY I GUESS I still like BuffMushCat it’s funny. Alright that’s all for now
The first thing I decided to do was select a theme for my website which was Twenty Seventeen. I removed the default image and added a pink background since that’s my favorite color. I decided to add two icons so they will appear on the site itself and url link.
I changed the color of the text to make it more vibrant instead of leaving it in black or white. The format I chose was to do blog posts like how we have it on our CT 101 site. In the beginning I definitely struggled with editing my website (I did not watch the video tutorial Professor Seslow provided).
Hey everyone welcome back we have made it to the MIDDLE of the semester. Okay, we actually already passed the middle of the semester by the time I am writing this we actually have arrived by the end of the semester. If I am being honest this semester was really stressful not just with school work but also because of my personal life I won’t get into it due to being personal but damn it’s been a stressful few months. In the end, things seem better so that makes me feel more calm.
Let’s get into other things instead of all this sad stuff. Recently the 3DS eShop shut down made me sad funny enough I actually made an entire video about it asking some york students how they felt took me a while to edit the video but I got to it. The video was for one of my Journalism classes and I am pretty proud of how it turned out in the end. If anyone is interested I can most def send it idk how comfortable I feel posting it here just because the parts I am in make me cringe a bit I was never a fan of watching myself. For any gamers out there though let’s give a moment of silence for the amazing 3DS eshop. You shall be missed. ]
That’s all I have for now especially since it’s the last day for me to post all of these blog posts. I will see you guys in the next one.
throughout the year I’ve always liked that the professor gave us the ability to express myself creatively through regular blog posts in this course. I really loved how we could discuss and evaluate our own emotions. By completing all of these things, I’ve learnt how to be more innovative as well. By mastering all of the skills I’ve learned throw-out digital storytelling, I may improve my interpersonal skills and successfully express my ideas and stories in an engaging manner.
As the semester comes to a close, I thought it was really interesting to create a website. So far, creating a domain is the easy part of making a website; the difficult part is customizing it to your desire. Due to other interests that I have in the near future, I believe I will be unable to maintain the website that I have developed. WordPress website was a nice experience. My website is about my favorite game apex legends and i was so excited to talk about it!
Learning to construct a WordPress website was a lot of fun, and you can see mine is apex everywhere check it out. I needed a place to keep all of my writing and planning for my blogs so I would pre type them in a google doc. I kept my design simple and all black because that’s who I am as a person and my style.
as of right now I am currently holding a b- for the sheer fact that I delayed so long to write this blog entry lol. Also, my attendance has been lacking since the first couple of classes because the professor stated that attendance is not required so I took advantage of that shame on me but still I believe that I deserve that grade because my work quality has improved since our first blog post, so I believe that I have improved and learned a lot and I submit good quality work when I do.
overall This class was both useful and enjoyable. I liked how simple and easy it was to learn everything and to pick things up so quickly and apply them in our post week after week . I’ve been using many of the skills we’ve acquired in earlier classes to my projects, and I’m confident that some of these new talents will be useful in my regular everyday life. so as my final post winds us down to the end of the semester here are all of my blogs through the year.
It is time to get creative. When I first heard about this project I was excited I thought making a collage should be fun I could just merge everything I that I think is fun all together SOOO let’s get right into it lets’s see what I did.
I decided to do these topics because they are what I enjoy they make me happy it’s just a simple collage of what I like. I do think that this topic was really fun I really enjoyed doing this topic because it felt nice and simple and just seeing most of what I like smashed all together in a nice little collage feels good to see.
Here is the link if you guys wanna see my collage. For now, that’s it until next time.
The words Creativity, Immediacy & Intuition go in this order: Intuition, Creativity, Immediacy.
To create a piece of art or literature people usually go with their intuition, then brainstorming which leads them to be creative and finally start putting the ideas together.
Living carefree and making yourself happy is what being alive means to me.
I am compelled one thing for this assignment and that is A COLLAGE! Who does not love a bunch of random images all put together with no context? I chose four photos all which I will explain in a few sentences.
I decided to use the link I inserted down below which is Figma. This application allows users to create prototypes, manipulate images, and design collages. http://figma.com
The four images I chose all are significant to me because they all represent creativity and forms of design. I chose the background to be green to resemble a green screen or slime from Nickelodeon.
In the movie 2 Fast 2 Furious I chose the scene of Suki (Devon Aoki) and Brian (Paul Walker) with both of their cars which they raced with. Growing up my dream car would be 2001 Honda S2000 the exact same one she drives in the movie.
A halloween episode from my favorite childhood cartoon Scooby Doo! Originally the image I chose from Google was not as vivid but I used the background blur feature to edit it. I figured to add this to my collage since I will always remember this show.
The last two images I included are photos from an album taken on a gaming platform known as https://www.imvu.com
IMVU is a gaming platform where users from all of the world create avatars, chatrooms, furniture, clothing and so much more. It gives those with creative abilities to use their talents and make money virtually or reality. I began playing in high school and sometimes I still continue to play. At one point I was a creator on there and made posters, pillows, furniture and clothing. I was more interested in room decor so I had about four chat rooms total and each of them had furniture from creators work I admired. The picture of my avatar standing on the carpet is actually a poster I made which at the time was available in my shop. Many of my creations were based around real life brands such as Comme Des Garcons, Vlone, Bape, Murakami, and Off White.
Finally I got my domain name registered so I ended up choosing Yafavva since it is easy for me to remember. Once I signed up with Reclaim Hosting and entered the information provided to us by Professor Seslow it was time to work my magic.
Until my domain got officially approved by CUNY I could not do much but brainstorm what content I’d add to my website. The process of registering took less than ten minutes which was surprising since I thought I’d be struggling for at least thirty minutes. I figured to keep it simple and incorporate ideas mentioned in my blog posts.
I have been working really hard on putting together what I had envisioned for my website. It’s a lot more difficult than I expected, and things aren’t really going my way but I’m going to keep pushing! For my website design I took inspiration from Solange’s website. I wanted my website to mainly consist of brown tones, and neutral colors.
I played around with quite a few themes until I found one that best suited what I was looking for. The colors are a big part of the website for me so I mostly focused on that more than anything else. I also made my own logo for the website using Photopea which was a lot easier and smoother than I thought it would be.
Assignments, tests, engagement with the lesson, and other standards established by the teacher are frequently used to calculate grades. relies on how well I perform personally.
The grade I may receive will depend on how well I comprehended the subject matter topic and how well I completed the required tasks.
Being in CT101 with Prof. Seslow and my fellow students was a delight. I’ve learned from this course that students have imaginative ideas that they may display through enjoyable tasks from this course.
I have appreciated the opportunity to express my imagination by posting regular blogs in this course. Also, I liked the way we could talk about and analyze our own emotions. I’ve learned how to grow more imaginative as well as organize my schedule by completing all of these activities.Digital storytelling is the art of delivering a tale utilizing a variety of media elements, including images, audio, and video. I can develop my interpersonal abilities and successfully present my ideas and tales in a fascinating way by understanding the fundamentals of digital storytelling.
I can convey my true imagination using the blogs I write has been enhanced by this class. I think it’s a benefit that Professor Seslow remains flexible with the submission deadlines for every post since it will encourage us to be more mindful of the timing of our tasks.
It was an excellent experience utilizing Reclaiming Hosting to build my WordPress website, and I now have my website. jesushelpforever7 I establish the objectives and reason for my website and

Also i incloudes Screen video recording
Skills in digital storytelling are useful across many industries. The abilities that I learned in this course can be used to develop compelling displays, advertising efforts, learning resources, or personal endeavors whether I work in advertising, teaching , or just interested in personal storytelling.
I am ready to get to work and register my domain!!! I made absolute sure to follow along with the zoom recording very diligently because I was deathly afraid of pressing onto something that I wasn’t supposed to.
The very first step was making my way over to the sign up page, and checking the availability of my domain names. I decided to go in with my favorite among all of the ones that I had came up with: intotheorbit.net
I was kind of nervous that somebody might’ve had a website already named after my idea, but thankfully it was available. I wasted no further time with the process and put all of the information in as requested.
After I had all of the information filled out and situated, I made my way over to Reclaim Hosting and did a bit of browsing to get a clearer understanding of it. Overall the process was pretty easy and it was a breeze following along.
It was a pleasure to be a part of CT101 with Prof. Seslow and the rest of my peers. This course has taught me on how students have creative minds that they can portray with fun assignments from this digital storytelling course. The thing that I have enjoyed about this course is that we are able to show our creativity through the weekly blogs. In addition to that, I also enjoyed how we are able to discuss and explain each of our experiences. With doing all these assignments, the skills that I have gained is to be more creative and manage my time efficiently. Although Prof. Seslow has been lenient on the due dates of each blog, I believe that is a plus point for us as students to be more responsible on when we should submit our assignments. As I mentioned above, this course has brought out our inner creativity that we were able to express through our blogs.
I believe that as this semester comes to an end, it was very interesting to build a website. So far, creating a domain is the easy part of creating a website but the tedious part of building a website is to customize it to your liking. I believe that I wouldn’t be able to upkeep with the website that I have created due to the other interests that I have in the near future. Although I have created a website before using a different hosting website, it was a pleasant experience using Reclaiming Hosting to create my WordPress website. My website is based on a bubble tea shop, Pila de Boba, which is located in the Lower Eastside of Manhattan. I haven’t completely finished the website but it is in a state that I can keep adding more content to update the website and make changes that can be pleasing to the viewers.
Couple of things that I did not appreciate while creating the website is how the tool bar for the text is separated from the toolbar that controls the image aspect. Inserting images is an easy task and doesn’t require much time to add them but when you are trying to move around the header or the footer, something else accidentally moves. This causes a frustration that then leads to more time being used in order to make everything look neat and clean. When adding text, you are only allowed to add text within the selected box and cannot click on anything else to edit text unless you select them in the previous page. Therefore making it slightly more challenging to add text whenever you would like to.
Overall, I had a great time creating the website. Although certain things caused frustration at times, it was an experience that I don’t believe I have had before from any other course. Enjoyed being a part of this course during this semester and I am looking forward to see more students take this course in the future.
Personally, it feels like I’m doing pretty well in ct101. Reading and starting the assignment is usually the most stressful part of this class. Once I recover from the feeling of impending doom, the course becomes fun and exciting. I lose track of time completing work.
What have I learned and retained the most? What new skills have I developed, cultivated, and displayed regularly in my weekly posts? What do I know now that I did not know before taking this class?
I’ve learned so much about websites, design, blogging, and other topics. For the first time, I am able to say that the lessons and information I learned will live with me forever and that I might actually apply those skills and expertise outside of the classroom. Throughout my time in the class I’ve learned a multitude of cool tricks, on my weekly post I use hyperlinks and giphs regularly, I’m able to create my own memes with free accounts and I now feel experienced enough to run my own website, which I do.
What grade do I believe I am maintaining and why do I deserve that grade? Do I see my weekly blogging work expanding creatively? If so, please explain why – or am I stuck in a loop where my posts seem to look the same most of the time, how will I change that? Are there any assignments that you are missing? If so, list them.
Wow, such good questions. While my work is a bit late, I am producing quality work. I’m following guidelines, referring back to zooms, and ensuring fun interesting content filled with exactly what were learning for that week. All of my posts are engaging and entertaining, they’re easy to tell apart and don’t share a repeating theme. Currently, the only assignment I am missing is the final submission post which will be uploaded tomorrow. With all of this information put together I believe I am maintaining a B+ or B.
Are you commenting regularly on your classmate’s posts? Are you responding back to comments given to you by the professor & your classmates? Are you participating during class time? If not, explain why. This is the time to be accountable. How will you make needed improvements?
My participation in class was low because attendance wasn’t mandatory. I can’t say I’ve been commenting regularly on my classmate’s posts but I do try to comment whenever I’m in the midst of doing my own work or after I finish publishing. I would rarely reply back to comments. I do plan to make improvements on my commenting action and engage a bit more.
Here’s a link to my other pieces of work that weren’t highlighted
The thing I am most passionate about, my hobby and solstice, the creative talent that keeps me grounded as a person, is writing poetry. The first memory I have of creating a poem on my own of my own intent was my first day back to school after finding out that Barack Obama had become our 44th president, the first black president in history. I wrote a rhyming poem that also used one of his famous slogans “Change has come”, just out of inspiration, and shared it with a few of my classmates during lunchtime in my middle school cafeteria. Those who I showed liked it, even though they did not really like me (I was bullied often throughout elementary school), and poetry began to formulate into my go-to creative expression.
Whenever I was emotional, inspired, in love, or in heartbreak, I wrote a poem about it- I surrendered myself to the flow of words on paper. At first, as a young child I assumed all poems had to be rhyming, so that was how I started out; however, I would find myself looking up rhyming words and changing my verses to suit the word at the end of the sentence, rather than to suit my soul. I began writing free-verse, without any knowledge of the word, because I wanted no constraints on my thoughts. I got into reading Shakespeare and old poetic literature, so occasionally wrote a sonnet here or there. In high school I learned more about Maya Angelou and read all of her poetry, her becoming my poetic inspiration. In 10th and 11th grade I joined my high school’s poetry club, and felt a sense of belonging, extremely elated to share my poems with other poets who also looked like me.
During Black History Month in 11th grade, my poetry club teacher who was also my former algebra teacher, told us about a Spoken Word event in Hollis, the theme being Black History. Two of my poetry mates and I jumped at the opportunity, filling out the online application and anxiously waiting for results. At this point of time, I was diving further into the poetry universe, not only in written but learning about Spoken word events. I watched a show on BET religiously called Verses & Flow, in which black women and men performed their work, elegant 2- 5 minute pieces completely from memory.
Their movements, the power behind their words, the strength and loudness of their voices- I wanted to immolate that one day. One classmate’s application got accepted, and I was disappointed that I was not considered, yet I along with my poetry club members and organizer went to support. I had a copy of my poem that I wanted to perform with me, although I knew I was not a performer. Yet, to my surprise, my name was in the program!
I nervously sat, shocked to my core in my seat, and quickly tried to memorize as much of a three page poem as I could while simultaneously watching in awe of the other performers. Finally, it was my time to perform, and suddenly my social anxiety disappeared out the window and I transformed into a confident radiant being. I spoke lively to the audience, asking them how they were doing and complementing the wonderful range of blackness I saw in the audience, before giving a backstory of my life then diving into my poem titled “Tired of Not Expressing the truth”. My mom was in shock, my schoolmates applauded as well as the rest of the audience of 100+ people, and shockingly a girl who used to bully me in middle school was there as another poet and came up to compliment me. A black author who came on stage to promote her book was so moved that she honored me a free signed copy. Senator Leroy Comrie was also present, and we all took a group picture with him after the performances and later ended up in a newspaper article.
This experience led to me performing my poem more within school, in front of my high school in the cafeteria and over loudspeaker. I read poetry novels from newer poet come-ups such as Rupi Kaur, a NY Times Bestseller, and created an Instagram dedicated to posting poems with the alias Sidney K. In college I ventured out to spoken word organizations, performing for Inspired Word NYC in Manhattan, Open Mic Renegades in Harlem, and a queer poetry organization that also does self-healing, plant, books, and astrology events called I’m Finna Talk in Brooklyn. In the beginning of the Covid pandemic, self- published my first book titled “Unraveling- Poetry from the Soul”, one of the achievements I wanted to enact since I was young.
My right arm holds a tattoo that says “Still I Rise”, my favorite poem from Maya Angelou, and my left arm says “Poetry” with a lotus flower next to it. Poetry is my first love and my lifeline; no matter what journey my life takes and how long my body is on this planet for, poetry will always be a part of me and in my heart. I will never depart from creating poems, and my future goal is to publish a poetry novel with a publishing company as a bestseller.

We are at the final post so fast, This class was very informative and enjoyable at the same time. I enjoyed how easy it was to learn everything and to pick them up as well. I have been using a lot of the skills we have learned in other classes for my projects and I know some of these new skills will be helpful when it comes to getting a new job.
Learning how to build a website was pretty cool as well. Me personally I will not be keeping up with it, It’s not something that aligns with my goals right now but it’s also a cool skill to say I know how to do something like that
for some reason my laptop isn’t saving my screenshots so I hyperlinked each page.
As for the grade I think I deserve for this class, I would say a B I so only say a B because I wasn’t doing the best with commenting on my classmates posts but I was on top of everything. I also have been able to put images and gif’s in my posts as well and expand on a lot of my thoughts.
Honesty coming up with what I wanted my website to be about was pretty difficult because there are soooo many different things.
But I ended up making my website a reading review kind of website.
The first thing I did was change the colors. My favorite color is pink so I made the buttons pink and some of the links pink as well.
I also used canva to put my own featured picture it was fun to customize.
This video we watched in class actually did help me a lot when it came to changing some of the default settings and adding my own. I definitely still have a lot more things to change but what I’ve done so far was pretty easy and actually fun.
