I must say that this semester has ranked in my top three worst semesters of my college life and that says a lot because I’m a senior with one more semester to go. This semester was supposed to be my last but I ended up dropping a course because there was just too much on my plate. Ugh!
From being a full time student and having a full time job, contracting Covid-19 and thus falling behind on my courses. I am just over this semester already.
Ct101 have been one of my courses this semester that is not a burden, I really enjoy this class and I enjoy the wide creative range that professor Seslow has given us in this course.
This course has challenged me in a way that no other course has and I am grateful for it. It has improved my communication skills and I think its because of the many visuals I can add to my blog post. Im a very visual person and just adding gifs to my post makes it feel less formal and eases the self induced pressure of converting my thoughts into my blog.
*happy sigh*
I do think I’ve earned an A grade so far in this class, Ive been keeping up with all the blog posts and doing the assignments. The only place where I would loose points is Participation, I have not been commenting on my fellow classmates post *hides face*
I can’t believe we are at the end of the semester, it is definitely a bittersweet moment… as this is my last semester!! And I can’t believe a finally made it to the finish line and that I actually created my own website and added content. I’ve always wanted to have my own site/blog
It really wasn’t as hard as I thought, just took some time and patience.
Some things were a little tedious but nothing a couple videos, emails and do-overs couldn’t fix. I had a hard time at first removing the default pictures in each section, third time was a charm. I learned a lot despite my procrastinations….I learned to create a site, add my own content including giphy and build my confidence in possibly venturing into the blogging world.
The easiest part was choosing the domain name: https://rosepinc10.com/ My site was designed to inspire and educate about Breast Cancer utilizing my story to empower and educate others that they’re journey is possible. Honestly, I think I deserve a B because I did my best as a newbie but could’ve done better…..but life and procrastination got in the way most days.
I almost forgot I created a vaporwave image, I learned how to include my social media info on my page. I used an old pic that reminded me of my strength and victory on my cancer journey…

What I’ve learned in CT101? Well…what haven’t I learned in this course!
I’m taking a whole lot of digital knowledge I never experienced before. CT101 has truly been a delightful class to take and keep up with. Every week, we learned new and exciting things about the digital tech world.
I’ve learned to use and make memes and GIFs. I’ve learned to blog and post, which I have never done in my entire life before this course!!!
My first ever post was about one of the wonders of the digital world. I love NETFLIX! I mean, it’s a great way of distracting yourself during the pandemic (and from it as well…). One of my all-time favorites is The Office. They are hysterical, and without the internet, nearly impossible to keep up with!
I really enjoyed placing Ariana Grande in some random place. She was naturally in sync with the wolves!
For the second part of that assignment, I had an awesome time summarizing a movie with animated GIFs. For this assignment, I chose to recreate a family favorite, The Little Mermaid. This was one of my favorite posts because I had a lot of fun creating the following:

The next step in our journey through CT101 was creating our own websites!
I had a wonderful time creating my brand new website claudiabakes.com. At first, I was very anxious. The thought of creating a website freaked me out! But being in class and listening to the explanations of the process made me eased into peace.
Proceeding with the website, I added a home page, an about page, a contact page, and a recipe page with categories! I began blogging and adding recipes to my new website. It was exciting, and honestly, very therapeutic. I felt like I was talking to someone like I do when we’re in person, but this is online! It’s amazing what the digital world can provide you with social skills like no other.
Back to the process, I’m not going to lie; it was hard keeping up with all the steps, especially for a beginner user like myself. But once I got through them, I realized it wasn’t so bad after all. I am eternally grateful for all the step-by-step instructions because, without them, I would be completely lost!!!
Now that I’ve learned so much from CT101, I will conquer the internet with all these new blogging skills! I am having all these great ideas about my brand new website. I will continue to build my blogging website, post my new ideas, and spread the inspiration! In the future, I hope to open a business of my own. Thanks to the skills I learned in this course about website building, I now know how to make a website for my future business.
I’ve learned to become my own critic and I can honestly say that I deserve a well earned A+. Like my fellow classmate Clark, I also believe in thinking positively. I aspire to be a successful student of knowledge, and indeed, I can say I have become very knowledgeable of the digital world through CT101. This was possible through working hard week after week, which I can truthfully admit I did. I tried very hard to keep up and I have completed all the assignments I needed to complete. I’m thankful for all the hard-working students who inspire me to keep at it too!
Admittedly, I can also say this has been one of the most wonderful courses I’ve taken this semester. Although a liberal course choice, an amazing choice nonetheless! I had a lot of fun blogging and creating new content every week. I will miss reading everyone’s posts and the ideas they share. I’ll miss having this much fun while learning something new in CT101!

Picking a Domain name is like naming your child! It its one of the most important things that you will have to do while creating a website. Important but also hard and I dont mean the actual process of purchasing it, that’s the easy part a quick google search and you can own a domain name in the next few minutes.
The hard part for me is finding a domain that in a way or another describes the purpose of your website, Can not have a websites on how to train your dog and a domain name like www.coffee.com. It would be easy to find a domain name that in a way brings meaning to your website, the problem is that not all are available. It is going to be super exciting for me to find a domain name.
I would like my Domain name to have my name, because it would be a personal website with link and and pictures of projects that I have done while in college.

So, for this post I decided to go from a journalist’s perspective, I want to start off by saying that this art website has some pretty impressive vaporwave art. After all my browsing I noticed a theme throughout most of the designs. There were a lot of Roman/Renaissance sculptures inspo use. Whether it be the well-detailed columns or the head of earlier Roman sculpture models. I also notice the use of neon yellow, blue, and purples. From the overall viewing of the Net Art website, I can confidently say that vaporwave is a combination of modern and old visuals with an enthesis on warm neon colors.
PERSONAL STATEMENT
Personally, I don’t really like the moving or blinking lights vaporwave trend. The moving/blink colors and/or images hurt my eyes and if I look at it for too long it reminds me of a form of hypnosis. However, I do love many of the artwork from the website. I like how so many of them are personalized to the artist and that the artist uses other depictions other than the normal Roman Era inspo.
Here are a few of my favs:
From just looking at the picture I know that the artist is graduating this year. This is definitely an inspirational piece because I too will be graduating in May of next year.
I loved how this artist uses the faded feature and the different line combinations to compliment the detailed visuals. Also, the colors aren’t too loud where the user is distracted.
This piece of art is different, that’s why I like it. Although there is the usage of the neon warm colors, I noticed it doesn’t have any sculpture aesthetics. I think it pretty cool how he made a waterfall flowing out of Arizona can. It’s Beautiful!
Hi, so apparently the semester is done. This class was one of the best in this semester, it made it fly by. During this class, I learned how to claim a domain name for a website, I was having trouble with that on my first website that I created in high school, but in this class, I learned how to claim the domain name which I now can use to update my old site. another thing I learned during the semester was to secure the website, using the tools provided by WordPress I was able to successfully secure the page. And lastly, I learned how to create GIFs and memes, which I plan to keep using because is so much fun to do and is also a way to brighten the day of others.
I think that because of all the work I did in this class I deserve a grade between a B- or an A-, I think I deserve that grade because I have completed all 15 blog posts and the website with a working blog section. My website’s name is “The JRod Lifestyle” this is website is mostly about things I did or places I visit, this website is based on blog posts about me. I had fun creating this website and I will continue to work on it because it is exciting to share the places I visit with people, I feel like I could motivate others to travel more or visit the places I went to. This website has been a way to keep me excited about the class, this is what I have been looking forward to since some time back and I am glad I got to do this in this class.
This class has been the best for me and I am glad that I got to be here and learn so much even though we had to be stuck at home, I will miss being and this class and having so much fun with the assignments for this course. Hopefully, we all get to be in our regular classes next year and that everything returns to normal.
Hey there, this is gonna be a transitional post that shows and explains what changed in my website during week 9, 10 and 11, it will also explain what is inspiring me to make this website like ideas that help me to grow the site.
Let’s start off with an issue:
It’s been tough when other unknown people from around the world are trying to gain access to my account, this started mid week 9, and continued till last week, every night I would get emails regarding this, in total I have at least 40 emails indicating a new ip trying to access my work, I don’t even know why but I am glad it stopped.
That’s more or less the only issue lol. Now with the good stuff:
I chose the recommended Twenty Seventeen option, I found it better for smoother transitions. I changed it later that same week.

The basic website front page of the website now have more vibrant colors. I did this because vibrant colors tend to attract the eye. With the help of week 10s zoom, I was able to create a footer with different things, I chose a footer over a sidebar because the way I want to set up the site is to make smoother to scroll down on the phone, tablet and computer and for the viewer to just see the main information displayed. This is the current footer;
The music video is a form of new-retro wave music, funny how a while after the Vaporwave assignment was given, I’m a big fan of the style projected by vaporwave images. The music video itself can be played during the viewing of the site when reading information, I learned to do this during week 10s zoom recording. Thank you Ryan for providing the zoom recordings!

Moving forward I was also able to learn on how to edit different pages of my website such as my “About” section, I changed the heading to “About This Site”, so from looking like this;

Also the zoom from these weeks helped me to create the appropriate link connections by pressing on something, such as pressing on the read more button. Example below>
So with the help of the zoom recordings I was able to understand how to create the connection of the read more because I was kinda lost of how to do it lol, I’m used to different forms of how to do this on different places like Wix, although similar I was glad to learn how to do it in wordpress.
I am updating my blog section today just need to playback some of the zoom recordings again.
Also, you might see no link to a social media outlet on the site, why? Well FOREX in many social media sites are sometimes scam sites and with the bad rap a social media account for this website is perhaps not appropriate, for now, if I realize many people checking the site I will make a social media and link it within the site, only time will tell on that. I might put in my personal social media line too if I get emails with more questions asking who I am and stuff.
I just want to throw out that the things during those weeks and still current weeks that inspired my continuation on the website was the temperature of our economical status as a country, the idea of this site is just to learn of a form of investment that if you truly gain interest you can do your own independent learning and explore other sites, and youtube videos that can help you excel in your journey of learning on how to invest using FOREX.
So to help this interest I am trying my best to make information understable, simple and accurate in my website, I will provide links of news outlets in my blog section in my website that can provide more insight on economical factors that have inspired me to learn this form of investment.

Should everyone copyright their work? I don’t think so, your work can inspire others creative perspectives and they might want to change the given form of your work just to create another perspective of it. Music wise I would probably, I am bit in the middle of copyrighting music, I feel that either way if you copyright others will still use it because once something is the internet, it’s given to all to share, re-share and change up a bit to change perspective or to add a new rhythm per se.

This was stated by Lawrence but worded in a way to avoid getting in trouble with the Ted Talks policy of selling, but this is what I understood from this; We the artist when we create something have the opportunity to allow others to grow from our growth and expand our creation to newer creations with different perspectives and ideas. That is why this quote captured my attention, it’s all a choice whether to share or not to share.
Before closing I want to describe fair use. Fair use simply means that there are ways to use copyrighted material for different purposes. Such as in youtube you see a lot of youtuber criticizing others videos on youtube, this is a form of fair use, criticizing. Interesting right?

There were 3 things that I learned, which I am considering using in the future. GIFs, vaporwaves and how to create my own website. I am planning to add more things in my website to expose my creativity. I feel that keeping up with my website will allow me to explore myself as well. I dont know how much potential I have honestly, but I believe that starting with something like this can really help me become an open minded student.
My grade
I believe my effort matches a grade that has the letter A and a plus right next to it. Trying to be funny here! I dont know why I found it hard to save images and removing pictures from one place to another. Because of that, I think I should get an A+ because that was by far the most difficullt thing I did throughout this semester and I managed to do it! Good Job for me! I also believe that nobody should be judged by their creatiivity, so a bad grade shouldn’t exist. Am I right?!

My website will consist of traditional recipes from my mother who is from a place called Yemen. It’s in the Middle East.
Unfortunately, as of right now my wesite does not have alot of content because I have been busy with school. But, I hope I will continue and make it better when I have a break so that I can share my culture with the people out there. I share food because I believe that just like how food brings people together, sharing food recipes can do the same thing as well. This website does not discriminate!
Speaking about my website, I struggled in the begining with buliding it. I wasn’t use to the features the website offered, so I would get frustrated. I had so many things happening, from school work to home work. It was frustrating for me to complete my work , especially with other classes in mind. But, I managed to do it! This was a fun class and I wanted to enjoy it without having to think about other things. I mean, it wasn’t awful because Profesor Seslow is an amazing teacher! But, I wanted to show more! I wanted to go out and put in!

This class allowed to open up to the arts of the world! It was a pleasure being in this class. It was fun and exciting being a student in CT101!
The most hectic semester is finally coming to an end. I’m saying hectic because of the pandemic then this semester going completely online and on top, I am taking a biology class with three other major classes. As this is my senior so I had a lot to worry about, however, CT101 has been the easiest and interesting course, I wasn’t ready to take this course because I thought that taking CT101 online will be difficult. However, this was the most interesting and fun class I have taken as an elective.
I enjoyed every assignment, but my favorite was a GIF assignment because I feel this is one of the best ways of communication without saying too much or to express feelings. Especially, for the person like me who do not like to type a lot during a conversation with my friends, it was a great experience.
The assignment in which I struggle the most was creating a website because this is the first time I even thinking about having a website. I always thought it was easy, but never knew it takes a lot time and creativity to design a website. My website is Killermonsta, it is not the best looking website but I tried my to make it look good by following instruction so it will look little presentable. I wanted to customize more, but I was busy focusing on my biology classes.
To be very honest, For CT101 I am expecting my grades in A’s because I had a lot to worry about in this semester. However, I still keep up with all my assignments and tried to do as best as I can. Overall, I have learned so much from this class, either it is making GIFS, learning about vaporwave, and memes. Everything I learned in this class will definitely help me in future.
Wow I can’t believe that the semester is over already. Time went by fast. I did a lot of work this semester and tried my best to keep up with all classwork’s for each of my classes. Towards the end some of my other classes started to give a lot of work and projects. But I got through them.
Throughout the semester I have learned a lot from CT101. I was not much of a gif maker and gif person till this class. Gifs are really fun to work with and make. Just the other day I went and watched a video of one of my favorite youtubers and just went to a website and tried making a gif.
I tried lol. I toot a part of the video and zoomed in the the face reaction then went to giphy and made this. His videos are funny a lot of the times and he is always having these different facial expressions/Reactions. His video memes are all over the world. There are a lot of memes that has to do with him. He is a very entertaining youtuber. he has two channels with over a million subs. You can check him out here and also here.
I really enjoyed making gifs in this class. When I watch a videos I now look to see what I can turn into a gif and probably use it for my YouTube channel when I actually decide to upload. I just upload for fun. So now I will most likely start looking into making more gifs. I also learned about vaporwave. I never knew what they were but felt like I should have. They are pretty cool. This class was the first place I ever learned about what vapor waves were. SO I am really happy I took this class and got a great teacher. For this class I believe I should get an A+. You should always think positive. So I say an A+. I’ve really enjoyed this class as stated and came to class and did what I had to while having fun. I always looked forward to coming to class and learn about new ways of making gifs and everything else. In this class i was able to get creative and write about it.
I was able to get even more creative when the assignment about making your own website was introduced. I’ve created a website before but that was in computer science class. I had to code everything. From the color to writing. This was my first time ever using wordpress and it was fun. I got to talk about me and also give some news. Check me out.
Once you first get to my website you will see a banner that I created and the title of my website. My website gives you some news about what is going on in the basketball world on the sports page as well as a little story about what sports I played or is into. A little about music that I like and albums I listen to. An about page which is a little welcome and what the website is about. A blog page of my favorite memes. As well as a more section that you are able to hover over and see more options like my youtube videos and latest post (basically links of any post i have included on my website or recently posted).
I was able to get my website to where I wanted it. I am extremely happy with my results and how the website came out. I was able to successfully work my way around the website after going back and watching the zoom recordings to guide me. I was able to create different pages and change the site icon. It took me a while to figure out how to remove some of the default pictures on the page which was my only frustration.
This class was amazing. I got more into making gifs and using gifs and memes now. I am going to miss this class.
A lot of these images I’ve never seen before. This is very new to me. I have not heard of vaporwave before but this is very cool. I feel like I should have known of this for some reason because how can I not. This is awesome.
I see a lot of images with color to them with different groups of pictures. It looks like you can take an image and turn it into a vaporwave image.

Man.. to recap from the beginning there is so much to say. To begin, when we first got introduced to ct101 commons website
I was honestly nervous because I didn’t know what to expect but it really felt like a social media online forum where we can post our creative ideas. When we started learning about memes that was really fun.
When I heard that in a college course we were making memes I found that hard to believe because why would any course teach that. Since that point on I knew this class was going to be really fun.
Moving away from memes… we were introduced to the
DS106 assignment bank where it consists of many community submissions of works to do like photo mashups, video edits and even audio assignments. I was assigned to pick one from the photo assignment and I did a cool photo mashup of Dunkin Donuts and Mc Donald’s combined together!
We were then introduced to the concept of vapor waves which was honestly amazing because vapor waves is a true form of art and gives out this amazing aesthetic retro vibe which many celebrities get influenced by today. It is very chill and brings out calm vibes whenever you see any retro gif.
We were then told to create our very own website, being honest I was very nervous because this is something I always wanted to learn how to do but I felt that it was really complicated.
After we signed up for the word press account it was similar to the ct101 website we were already using and so then I started working right away. We created our own domain name and a theme for the type of content we wanted for our site.
The website is called SlimShakey because that is the persona I have on youtube and so it would resonate well if it was my own site. This website as you go through it consists of floors like a hotel and each floor you explore has a creepy element. The website is horror theme because I love horror movies and always had a fascination of creepy conspiracy theories and so I included creepy stories, unsolved conspiracies and creepy photos. If your into horror this website is for you. After the class ends I do plan on maintaining this website and expanding it to reddit users because it has many popular horror forums and so people can discover my website.
Overall this class was really fun, it was unfortunate due to COVID I couldn’t take this class in person but the zoom meetings were funny and interactive. I think I deserve an A because I was always on time with my assignments and I had a lot of fun working on the assignments. This class out of my other classes make me feel like I can be myself and do something I love.
Vaporwave, this brings me back a bit to about a decade ago. I am no artist, but I what I see above is art lol. The moving gif above is a prime example of vaporwave digital art, but can you hear the music? Use some imagination, what do you think you’ll be hearing if you were flying around this view? Not sure about you but Im getting new retro wave vibes, endless summer comes to mind.
I love it. I cannot hate vaporwave because it is simply a vibe scenery and if you add the right new retro wave music your golden. Digging deeper on the images though, vaporwave is a form of seeing the future both visually and in music style even if it is considered an old school genre. Like I asked above, can you not hear the music just with the vaporwave image? I must say that when I entered the site I was fascinated with the beautiful background placed, as I was scrolling down the site the backgrounds were changing to different ones and it was great. All sections under a heading were placed with great info such as the about section, I enjoy that you placed your purpose of the site within this section, I am glad to know that you want to spread awareness on different not so often spoken topics! Also the design and format of the website was easy to go scroll around making it good to read and move to different section with ease. Well done!
I enjoyed the festive design on entering the site, following the design I was shown the posts. The latest posted consisted of a plan/challenge, one in which you save money and wow I was surprised of how ideal it works, I also ended up watching the provided video which was of Candy Dream, the video explained the plan of saving every 5 dollars and others that you might have but not need at that time can provide a big help on the future financially speaking. Very needed video and post to see so thank you cindy! Moving forward the website was easy to navigate, I enjoyed the little santa picture on the about section and glad to know that there is a contact page. Overall excellent and progress! Keep it going!
