What Is Copyright?

Copyright is defined as the exclusive legal right, given to an originator/assignee to print/publish/perform/record any kinds of literature and/or musical material. I think that users should be mindful of the content they share on certain platforms. I think it is good to always know the rules/regulations of what we sign up for because it could come with consequences.

But the day and age we live in we see that once something becomes popular it starts trending. I feel as though if the creators aren’t trademarking the content then it’s fair game/fair use because the originators haven’t legally made it their own. If we followed copyright laws then TIK TOK would be banned because they use short clips of voice-overs and/or legally binned music. But the app allows people to create their own interpretation of it.

So for this assignment (#3), I chose to recreate a quote from an Andy Baio video which states “Everything Is A Remix!” This quote is wholeheartedly true, I feel as though every great idea comes from inspiration. Research papers, music, popular dances, etc all derived from past inspiration. All these examples have had to get samples from elements from history in order to modify it to accommodate the current trends or information of the era. This is my visual remix/recreation of this quote.

With this visual, I took a screenshot of the quote from the video and incorporated my own swag into it. I thought the slide that used was a bit depressing. So, I bring my joy of color into my visual as a way of including a little bit of me. You can say I remixed Baio’s mundane slide to something that is more visually appealing to readers.

Assignment #11: Vaporwave!

Hi everyone!

It’s official: I’m in love with Vaporwave art <3

I love everything from the retro aesthetic to the vibrant, neon colors. Here’s two versions of a Vaporwave artwork I made with the character L from Death Note.

If you’ve watched the show, you know that apples and potato chips are significant to the plot, and it wasn’t until I finished both of the versions that I realized how much it reminded me of the second opening theme.

I had so much fun recoloring the chips and adjusting the sizes and orientations of the apples. The kanji over L’s eyes in the second version translates to “genius” in Japanese, and the chips I chose are a very popular brand that I personally enjoy eating. If you haven’t tried seaweed-flavored Calbee potato chips, now is the time! 😀

Assignment #10: Visiting A Classmate’s Website!

Hi everyone!

I was looking through all of the awesome websites that my classmates created. Everyone did such a good job with the design and layout of their webpages so far.

I visited Claudia’s website, ClaudiaBakes, and wow! I really enjoyed reading through her recipes, and the pictures were absolutely mouth-watering. The recipes were laid out in a very neat, easy-to-read format, and her instructions were clear to follow. As a fellow baker, I hope I can try out some of these new recipes! I think I’ll begin with the homemade carrot cake 😀

I also visited Brandon’s site, NBABrandon. As someone who knows little to nothing about basketball, I thought that his site was very informative. It was mostly image-based and kept you up-to-date with whatever’s happening in the NBA currently without overloading the reader with too much information. I look forward to seeing the new content when the NBA season starts!

Final Assessment

CT101 has come to an end.

Now is a time for reflection and determination of the grade I have earned. Coming into this class as an older student during this covid crisis with online learning as the only option I must say I was very nervous in the beginning. This gif expresses how I felt.

Based on my personal skill level coming into ct101 and now leaving with some useful skills that I have learned in such a short period of time I can confidently say I have absolutely earned my A.

I DID IT

We started class discussing our level of internet happiness, I expressed that the internet was very scary for me. Overtime I have become more comfortable and can find recipes and music that I love. Found solutions for math problems and science experiments to help my children with their homework. With the internet and ct101 I have found that my children are now my teachers.  I have learned so much, I must share when I made my first gif and shared it with my children they were so proud of me. I have enjoyed this class. Things I have learned here will be useful in my life, I can make GIFs of my grand daughter and all the grand babies to come.

My job can be mundane, and with photopea  and vaporwave skills I now have in my arsenal I can make presentations for my team that I hope will make our job a little easier and put a smile on someone’s face.  Giphy and imgur  will make these fun to create.

Using The DS106 site I plan on doing some of these assignments to fine tune and learn more.

Frustration during learning how to create  gifs, work on my ds106 assignment and layering in photopea. I reached out for help and thankfully professor seslow was always available to help.

Knowing that when I reached a roadblock I could reach out for help was great it kept the level of frustration minimal. And with the domain and reclaim hosting even they respond to my emails in a timely manner. So I know that I will become frustrated as I expand and fine tune the skills I have acquired on my  personal web page, knowing help is available makes me less stressed.

Making my very first website. OMG this was so exciting. The domain name I choose is Janett4kids.com I choose that because I have 4 children.  I have every intention on developing my site.  I am a Jamaican mother and according to my children West Indian parents are different. I will take that to mean I have tips and suggestions that other parents or parents to be can use.  I really love children to me every child is a precious blessing  and  in time the more I learn and play around with word press the potential is unlimited and I am excited to see how my site will develop and grow.

Vaporwave Assignment

According to dictionary.com, vaporwave is defined as a ” subgenre of electronic music which features heavy sampling and editing, surreal and futuristic themes, and 1980s and 1990s imagery, musical styles, and consumer culture.”

I’ve seen the vaporware art movement before but not as much recently. I always thought it made my eyes hurt because the colors were so bright. However,I also thought it was eye catching as well.  I’m sure that is the concept of all vaporwave art, attention.  Down below are some of my favorite vaporwave art!

Assignment 15: Final Blog

We have reached the painful part of the semester when we say goodbye. The online learning experience is a tad bit cruel when you won’t see your friends in the halls or on-campus after this. I feel like I’ve learned the importance of spreading knowledge on the internet. The internet boy Aaron Swartz gave himself to the same entity that turned against him because high powers charged for information we all probably take for granted. I’ve incorporated many gifs into my digital identity. I love how I can use individual gifs as a secret code for my friends for inside jokes. I will make more memes in the future, but my overall favorite is the gifs. I notice I use them way more than before this class. I learned what vaporwaves and copyright were; I was not familiar with them before

I think I deserve an A for the content and energy I brought to this class. Although creatively I’m challenged, they weren’t required, although I tried my very best. I love how lacked this class is in comparison to my other classes. Due to personal reasons, I fell into a deep depression and fell behind on my assignments. I was able to catch up with reassurance from the professor. He was accommodating throughout everything, and I genuinely thank him for that reason. I do no like WordPress. I don’t know I like the layout of CUNY Academic Commons better. It was way easier to customize my blog post.

My best work includes storytelling abilities. I have posted all my assignments to my site exclusively to generate traffic to my site. I wrote a touching piece about my two-year-old daughter Taraji Scarlet for her birthday. It started as a Facebook post, but everyone on my Facebook was so moved by it. I decided to share it. Motherhood others include Vaporwaves and Dreads

Half of the class blog assignments were exclusively for my blog, My review of my classmates’ blog, my copyright entry, and an update on my MTA bus experience are on my website. Please check it out.

My website is about me and my entire experience in CT101 to see all my post that probably lost in the feed as well as poems and real life experiences. http://wheelchairbae.com

Mid-Term Assgn And My Thoughts

Where should I start? Mid-Terms? Haha for most of my other classes it was hell. I mean straight hell the amount of workload is crazy. But with this class, it wasn’t all that stressful. Because I had taken a lot of technology classes when I was younger it really didn’t affect me all that much. If anything I got a  feeling of relief from this class and just doing the work.

From creating my own website, memes, and future planning out I layout for my writing it was all fun for me. I find this class in the middle of the semester to be overall fun and thrilling. Sure there is still a lot to be done but hey there is a brightness to this class and just doing the work. EASY GRADE!? Maybe lol who knows.

Obama-Biden memes are the internet's comic relief after election - CBS News

OH BTW in the middle of the semester for this class I was debating on whether  I should do a collection of memes storyline of Biden and Obama lol didn’t go so well but. This class and Prof is very flexible and works with the class really well. So I’m grateful to be in the class

Vapor Wave

Vaporwave is  defined on wikipedia as: a microgenre of electronic music, a visual art style, and an Internet meme that emerged in the early 2010s.  Visually, it incorporates early Internet imagery, late 1990s web design, glitch artanime3D-rendered objects, and cyberpunk tropes in its cover artwork and music videos. Vaporwave I don’t hate it , but I don’t love it either.

It’s an early version of internet art. It does make a person not only look twice but take long looks a few times and that makes it cool.

This is my attempt at a vaporwave. I hope you all enjoy!!!!

Vaporwave

Anime Vaporwave Wallpaper - 1200x1920 - Download HD Wallpaper - WallpaperTip

To me, Vaporwave seems like a funt project, and actually, I had throughout about adding it to my website although I’m still in the middle of creating meems for my website so it can match with my overall theme which will be writing and games. Vaporwave or the drawing of it seems like a lot of fun but it takes a lot of practice to do. I even have trouble trying to get some of my own inspirations so I can start my own Vaporwave art to my website but it seems like a lot of fun.

I prefer anime Vaporwave because not only I’m a big weeb but it helps me escape from the real world in a very odd but fun way. Vaporwave has that sort of escape feeling to it so when the Prof did it was amazing but; like I said it takes a lot of time to get down.

Final Blog Post

So this is really goodbye…

The end of the semester…

CT101 has been a tremendous all around fun ,learning, unique experience.

I can honestly say I enjoyed this course.

For the most part, I feel so much more comfortable being able to express myself through a blog.

I learned how to support my feelings and emotions using GIFS, videos, images and text that are super short and simple.

One thing that I REALLY REALLLYYY, I mean reallyyyyy enjoyed about this course was the freedom to blog about my own interest!

Throughout the semester, I frequently blogged about my favorite athlete, there was simply no better feeling being able to just blog about something that I actually enjoyed.

No seriously, I literally blogged about Lebron James multiple times throughout out the semester, here’s a quick recap of previous blog posts.

In addition to this, I was able to create my very own Website for the first time!

and GUESS WHAT?

My website is strictly NBA CONTENT!

like whatttttt

I literally own a website where I can publish what I want!

CT101 allowed me to learn, create, edit, publish and allow me to post! This was a great experience! Also, I had peers who commented and gave feedback on my website! That was really awesome! I appreciated it a lot.

I appreciate Professor Seslow’s clear instructions and guidance as well. Being able to look back a Zoom sessions, really helped me a lot in learning how to create my website.

Now, after many many weeks of building knowledge and learning how to create and publish. I finally got to complete my website!

Overall, the only thing that I can say was a bit stressful, was me not wanting to miss a step. I viewed Zoom sessions carefully, so I didn’t have to miss any important steps.

But it was all part of the process!

Now… what grade do I believe I earned…

I have to admit… I believe I earned nothing less than a A-!

I say this because I completed all assignments, in addition I tried my best to include everything I learned over the semester in my work!

Overall, every good thing must come to an end!

And the semester is upon completion!

I appreciate you all! and everything I learned in CT101!!

HAVE A SAFE AND HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

CT 101 Final Blog Post & Course Completion

Truth be told this semester was like a punch in the face, but I can honestly say this class has made it  MUCH better. Last semester I lost my grandpa due to COVID-19 which really sucked. He was a huge advocate for going to school and receiving good grades. I never could have imagined learning from HOME. I thought it would be the best thing ever but in hindsight, it was the WORST THING IMAGINABLE. I never felt this unmotivated in my life. While in the beginning, I thought CT 101 would be difficult it wasn’t. Having a professor who actually takes the time to engage with the students making sure that learning is still fun and still makes videos for us to follow is a BLESSING.

One thing that I enjoyed the most about the class was being able to add hyperlinks and gifs to my works. It makes an assignment jazzier. Hyperlinks are links used to give further information based on what you’re talking about. Here’s how it’s done. You  highlight a word that you would like to connect a hyperlink to end in another browser you copy and paste you are well and input it into the URL opening at the bottom of the hyperlink. You then have the option to have your hyperlink open in a new tab so that the reader can still read what you’re already reading and also have the additional tab open for further readings and or findings.

The method of setting up our WORDPRESS has been straightforward.

The first was to choose a domain name that better represents what your website was all about; it had to be something people could quickly recognize, and it had to bear very little or no similarity to current products. I’m super thankful that there were follow along videos.

Here’s a little inside about myself. I am a virtual learner but I would literally have to watch the same vedior about 5 times for things to actually stick in my brain. I’m horrible with following directions. That’s why I’m so hesitant to follow the GPS in places I’m not familiar with. But that all comes with adulting.

About my website now , I’m not really happy about my website. It doesn’t really speak the volume of what I was trying to portray. I can honestly say that I thought I knew how to navigate the internet but it’s more to the web than just googling to find things . That’s just me being honest. The intentions of my website were to help motivate women during a time of need . Being that our devices are glued to our hands, it will be convenient to look up sites that can motivate you when you’re feeling down . I honestly tried my best with www.deandrajohns.com. Something that I can work on in the future is.

I think I deserve a  A- in this class. The reason why I say that is because I worked very hard, tried my best and learned a lot. I was able to explore and explain what MEME ART meant to me. I enjoyed being able to be expressing by using pictures, common memes and, words to express different types of reactions. Social media after times tries to shape our minds into thinking one type of way. Especially if a celebrity is doing or engaging into something we often times drift into what they are doing completely forgetting they we can find out information and explore things ourselves. I did some extra credit if my website sucked really bad LOL.

My classmates have some really dope website I loved exploring them. I was supper engaged and appealed by them.

In the process of learning about gifs and memes, I learned how to find the exact meme or gif that was better tailored to my thinking or feeling that I wanted to represent using a variety of online outlets, especially online.

Finally, I would like to thank everyone for taking the time out for helping each other. Thank you professor for being my ONLY proffesor that was asseable 24/7 to answer questions no matter how stupid I thought they were.

Copyright

Ever since I have that video of copyright. I have found myself questioning social media its advisement for different uses. Although they may have the right to show their product. I get the feeling that there is some sort of copyright in there. To me, I always thought of copyright as a source of writing or pulling information from the internet, music, or videos. But there seems to be a much deeper meaning behind copyrights.

The ownership of one’s work should be measured but never stole from or used in such a manner that it has to be fought over. When someone creates anything over the internet or anywhere where else it theirs for keeping. Nobody has to write to take what theirs. The word copyright to me seems like a keepsake. But it could also mean; as the old say goes “One man trash is another man treasure”.

Dark Memes

Before the 1800’s humor was seen in a negative light by society. Laughing was seen as unnatural and physiologically harmful. Some even went as far as to compare laughter to masturbation…. Which is really weird. The humor which was seen as a negative light by society is also known as Dark Humor, which in some cases can mislead others into believing that making light of a bad situation can brighten up the mood. This is true but it depends on the situation. This belief was so strong that it even leaked into Christianity.

Proverbs 26:18–19: ‘A man who deceives another and then says, ‘It was only a joke’, is like a madman shooting at random his deadly darts and arrows’.

Thomas Hobbes – Superiority Theory

The essence of laughter is enjoying feeling superior to someone. Basically means that you’d laugh at someone you’d feel as though you are superior to. You wouldn’t laugh at someone who you feel is superior to you, which in my opinion adds a level of complexity to laughter that simply doesn’t exist. A certain level of mental gymnastics was definitely needed to create such a ridiculous theory.

Not useless! I'm - iFunny :) | Anime funny, Anime memes, Anime

Relief Theory & Incongruity Theory

The relief theory essentially states that laughter is the release of too much pent up energy in the body. Incongruity Theory says that humor comes as a result of an unexpected surprise in people’s daily lives and expectations.

Website and Final Blog

Website link: http://2020gamerslife.com/

Throughout the semester; mostly towards the end, I found myself questioning what else I can do with my website. Although I am still struggling right now in design the website I am almost. Trying to make the second section of my website right now. The Gamers Life website is supposed to bring together people from all areas of the world and including my friends where we exchange games and personal ideas of what we can vision for a game. Throughout this class, I was able to understand a lot about memes and create my own meme at the same time learn about the vast world of technology and memes. This class has actually help me be more open in social media although I am still struggling to submit my poems to social CT 101 was like an online home where I can basically explore and combined ideas of what I want my own website and blog post to be about. I feel like I should get the grade that matches the amount of work and – participation I have done throughout the course of the semester and online classroom. I feel like with this class it should be easy to get your work done at the same time explore more into the class layout. But overall I had fun making memes and websites. I am currently going to upload my thoughts on dark humor memes.

Final Blog Post/Jeffrey Morales

It’s been a hell of a ride this semester, stress and anxiety surged for me the most this year, but you know what made things easier, breathable? This course, CT 101 with the amazing Professor Ryan!

I am extremely thankful for such an amazing professor who set up the class in a way in which we are able to breathe, in a way in which we are able to space out our work on different dates and you know what? It helped reduce my stress and anxiety for school. Recorded zoom meetings help. Fast communication helps and Ryan was quick to respond to my email, thank you! I believe this is a prime way different courses should be set up but hey. 1 thing I learned was that great professors do really exist.

Moving forward, I was content that we were able to learn on the usage on gifs, on how they benefit a conversation because gifs are eye catching! I now use them in all my conversations with friends and peers!

The human was the randos trying to get my wordpress account and the bear was my countermeasures blocking all false Ips, I learned a thing or two with passwords and security settings from the making of my website.

I also learned how to better make a website using different images that attract a persona:

My website was designed to help people understand what FOREX is, just information on different terms, languages, images, how to see graphs, and much more!

Bull &  Bear, the Exchange Market, FX, visit my site to learn more on what they mean: https://fxlearnersway.com/

As you scroll you stumble upon more information, feel free to press on the read more on these sections to gain more knowledge and information.

This took me some time really, to link the read more to another page, I was not using to it using wordpress but with the help of the zoom meetings I was able to adapt easier and to act. If anything I learned how to make my own personal website, using my own creative mind to design something for myself to share to others, this being information.

Not only that, I learned to blog in this class, and introduce my blogs to my website, recently I shared some information of the stimulus package, the more you know 😀

I did not add social media because FX has a bad rap on social, if I see that many people are visiting my site I will then add a social media for the site because it will known to people that the site is not a scam.

I was also able to share my favorite genre of music, although in class we learned it as Vaporwave which is an art form of the genre, I was able to share Synthwave and Retro Music, take a listen to this on your free time;

I also was able to put another video in website in the footer, for you listen and read.

Now, grades…

I think my grade should be an A-, I did my very best to complete all the designated tasks but I’m human, so things slip by you know, in all my post I did my very best to make it fun and easy to read, for my website I also made it fun and easy to read, I’m also making sure its tablet/phone readable, that’s why there is no sidebar, just the footer with the many things 😀

Yes. I will continue to work on the website, there are some sections that have been noted that will be updated later next week, work and holiday are time consuming but I want to continue to provide more info in my website in regards of FOREX. Now that I know how to be more creative with a website I will be implementing them in my other sites that I make.

But just like that the year is done, the semester is finished and this is my last post here. It’s been an honor to be in the presence of such great creative people like you all! I’ve visited many sites and i’ve been like wow, just great work everyone. All posts see here are eye catching because I believe we have all learned to use Gifs very well. Thank you Ryan for the awesome class experience! With that, I yield my time, and wish you all happy holidays and a great New Year in advance! Take care all!
