CT101 Final Blog Post/ Fatema Johura

Final Reflection Blog Post

My Experience with CT101

First of all, I would like to admit that it’s been a  wonderful journey so far. The way Professor Ryan designed this course I had a unique experience. Throughout college life, we have to take a bunch of courses, but honestly, only a few courses help us to grow intellectually. There is no doubt that CT101 is one of those courses, where we get to learn and practice new skills almost every single week, which we can continue using in the future in terms of virtual communication. In this class, I learned how to improve myself in terms of using the internet more creatively. Here I learned how to create my own website from scratch using WordPress, publish blog posts more professionally by using hyperlinks, embedding images and videos, linking any image to the source, etc. I also learned how to create Memes and GIFs to tell my stories and give context to readers of my blog posts. I am also glad that through this course, I got to introduce some incredible websites such as GiphyPixabayPhotopea, WordPress, etc. I enjoy studying  CT101, and undoubtedly, this is one of my favorite classes that I’ve taken in college.

The future of my newbie website:

Yes, I would like to maintain and keep working on my new website. Since my website is based on traveling and I love to travel, I am planning to keep posting my travel photos and my experiences on my website. Because this way I can keep those happy moments alive and relive those experiences forever.

Reflection of the Assignments:

Now I’m going to reflect on the assignments I did so far and showcase some of my works here.

Assignment #1 – What Makes You Happy on the Internet?

In this assignment, we were asked to share media, images, videos, and links that I love to do/watch on the internet. I used hyperlinks, Memes,  GIFs, and my favorite  YouTube channel links to complete that assignment. As that was my first blog post, I was quite happy with the outcome.

Assignment #2 – Making our first GIF & GIF Post Narratives!

In this assignment, I shared my experience on the first day of the CT101 class, my thoughts on its creative contents, and compared this course with my other courses. I used a lot of GIFs from Giphy, one of my favorite websites, to complete this assignment. However, I didn’t use any hyperlinks on the assignment, so Professor Ryan asked me in the comment section to use some hyperlinks in my blog posts and I updated my assignments with a few hyperlinks.

Assingment#3 – Are memes art?

I created this Meme for this assignment. To be honest, I felt weird as well as surprised knowing the fact that Memes can be considered as an “Art”..! But from this video, I just learned that there was actually an exhibition of memes held in LA in 2017!! Besides that,  I was introduced to the websites Imgur and Make A Meme which I used to create Memes for my blog posts.

Assignment #4-: Digital Storytelling Project Flexibility

Initially, I thought this assignment was one of the most challenging ones to complete, however, it wasn’t that hard, and really enjoyed doing it. From DS106 Assignment Bank I completed a total of 3 projects, code assignments, Name this Flower, and Make a GIF and add subtitles!  I described step-by-step processes and the end results of the projects in that assignment.

Assignment #5–  Digital Art & Creative Immediacy

In this assignment, we had to define the meanings of Creativity + Intuition + Immediacy. I had to do some brainstorming work for this one because I wasn’t sure about how. The main goal of this assignment was to design a webpage using the mmm. page which was quite interesting.  I have never worked with creating Memes ,GIPHY , or designing web pages. Almost everything is new to me. After completing this blog post I feel like my creative content creation skill has certainly improved!

Assingment#6–  Mid-Semester Recap

This was basically another reflection post about how am I doing in CT101, what skills I developed so far, how many points have I earned, and what grade I believe I am maintaining… This assignment makes me realize that I actually learned so many new things so far and felt good about my journey.

Assingment#7– It’s Time to Pick A Domain Name!!

With this assignment, we officially stepped into the 2nd phase of this which creating our own website. We had to decide what type of website we want to build and created a list of a few  Domain Names accordingly. Among them, we had to pick out a  Domain name (Love2Explore.net) for our website and checked the availability of that name from Godaddy.com.

Assingment#8: Domain Name Registration, Hosting Set-Up & WordPress Installation!

In this blog post, I explained the process of creating a Domain Name, registration, Hosting, and Setting up the WordPress Installation. At first, it seems to be a lot, but thanks to Professor Ryan, by following this instruction it took literally 5-10 minutes to set everything up!

I can completely relate to this reel. Although I did everything pretty fast and smoothly, however, the email address I used was incorrect, so I had to face some trouble fixing this issue because I couldn’t verify my email and my domain got suspended.

Assingment# 09-  Customizing My WordPress Website

I decided to build my website based on my travel stories. After I got access to my website, I immediately started my customizing my website. I chose a theme for my website, added a tagline, and created the Home page, About page, and Contact the same day. I was exploring my options with different editing tools and colors and watching video tutorials really helped me start editing my website.

Assignment #10: Exploring the WordPress Potential and My First Blog Post.

In this blog, I invited my fellow classmates to visit my website and read my first blog post “MY FAVORITE DESTINATIONS SO FAR”- which I just published here on my website: Love2Explore.net. I also requested everyone to leave feedback in the comment section below my blog post. I am glad to say that some of my classmates actually like my website and shared about my website in their posts.

Assignment #11– Panoramic Storytelling & Multiplicity

This was one of my favorite assignments because in this blog post I shared my experience with Panoramic photography as well as the funny stories behind them. I really enjoyed a lot doing this assignment.

Assignment-12: Sharing Website’s URL

Here I shared my Website’s URL once again with everyone. For this assignment, I explored and discovered some of my classmate’s websites, which were amazing. It was a great pleasure by looking at each other’s work and making helpful comments about their websites and giving them suggestions on how they can do better.

Overall assessment of the building and having a website.

Other than the email issue, I did not really face any other issues building this website. I followed the professor’s instructions as well as this YouTube tutorial for creating the website, and my overall experience is pretty good. I actually do not have anything to complain about. I was excited about the website and had an amazing experience creating it.

grade I am expecting from this course

Well, from the 1st assignment to till now, I literally put my 100% effort into creating each blog post. Even though I have attended every single class, still I always rewatch video tutorials and take notes of important stuff like this word document, before starting a blog post so that I don’t miss anything that the professor asks for. I always use titles for my posts, GIFs, Memes, hyperlinks, embed images and videos, and link those images to the source basically everything the professor mentions during lectures.

Therefore, I am hoping for an A in this course. However, it’s true that I could not post the last few assignments on time for the last couple of weeks because I have some health complications and was recommended to take bed rest for a couple of days. Moreover, I have taken 6 courses (21 credits) this semester because I am planning to graduate next semester. Thus,  keeping up with the all course works was quite challenging for me.

Lastly, I would like to thank Professor Ryan for making this course so much fun, and for being so kind and generous. Also, my fellow classmates are amazing too. In the last assignment, I love the way they appreciate each other’s work and share their thoughts. Overall, it is an incredible experience indeed!

Assignment 9

A lot of customization and decision making using wordpress. I had already messed with some of the features before but this time I went further on how I want my website to look. First I added the slogan of the banquet hall I work at as the title of the homepage “If You Can Imagine It We Can Make It Happen” that may stay or it might not I am not too sure right now.

I also changed the colors the yellow background and black text was not working for me so I changed it to a black background with gold text and now it has a way better look. I had put a background image previously but no matter how I adjusted it, it didn’t seem like a right fit so I removed it completely. I added two more categories to my menu page adding a photography and video section because those are the ways in which I will be showcasing event decorations. I got rid of a lot of the default content on my theme but I experimented with all 3 themes for a bit and found the 2020 to be the easiest to navigate and customize with so I chose that. I decided I want my home page to show some of my favorite setup and  decorations and the pictures taken from those events and make the homepage a static page. I also added to widgets one about the site and one where to find the banquet hall in which these pictures were taken. I will probably add more widgets. And do many more changes in terms of theme and how everything is formatted. Here are some images of the current progress.

The Final…DUN DUN DUN

Okay. This is it. My very last blog post. Aka my final exam. This isn’t nerve wracking at all. I thought to myself making sure not to break eye-contact with my keyboard avoiding the cursor at all costs. Something about it just makes writing that much more intimidating but maybe I’m thinking too much. Okay all I have to do is breathe. This is just like any other blog post I’ve written but I’m just wrapping everything up to the viewers. Its my farewell and I wanna make it a good one. How do I even begin to reminisce on the past fifteen weeks of CT 101?  I guess the reasonable thing to do is sit back, take a deep breath, put my AirPods on, playlist on shuffle, and get comfy because I’d like to take my time with this. And oh, how could I forget…

PREVIOUS ASSIGNMENTS…

If im being completely honest, I didn’t know what to expect from CT 101 but I had high hopes that it would be a fun class strictly because of the name “Digital Storytelling”. While making my schedule, it didn’t seem like the worst option. I like stories and storytelling, and I’ve been meaning to learn more about the digital world anyways. So why not. For a person who makes pretty dicey decisions, taking this course was hands down one of the best decisions I have made in my education career and I say that with zero exaggeration which means a lot coming from me because anyone that knows me knows that I exaggerate a lot. Like. A lot. Though we took the first three weeks or so to write our first blog post, I did not mind taking the time to set up, and get a thorough understanding of the course and what we will be doing so I know what to expect. If anything, my excitement just grew stronger each week. From one to fifteen.

You’d think that you wouldn’t learn much from a class you only have once a week for an hour or an hour and fifteen minutes at most. But that is where you’re wrong. Though the sessions flew by time wise, I still learned valuable information each week as well as learning about myself as a writer, and exploring the depths of my creativity. From week one to fifteen, I have learned a great deal of things regarding digital storytelling and just needed skills in the rapidly expanding tech world. Some of these skills include hyperlinking, embedding videos and various medias into a post or site, creating gifs and memes as well as learning the history behind them, and using sites such as https://mmm.page and https://assignments.ds106.us to utilize different tools and ideas into learning how to create new media whether it was digitally or on paper. Along with utilizing these new skills, I have also gained a new perspective in this class when it comes to topics such as creativity, immediacy and intuition unaware of how much of a role they play in the process of art making and other topics such as “are memes art?”.

After our midterm, we began working on our websites which is when time really began to fly. Setting up our domain names, installing WordPress, and figuring out what our sites were going to be about took about two or three weeks leaving us only another two or three to actually work on our sites. Before introducing my site, I would like to give you a story time of how it came to be. So if you haven’t already, I advise you grab some popcorn, get comfy, and sit back. Because this isn’t an average length post-or an average story….

I’d be lying if I said I was excited to start making our website. I enjoyed the weekly blogging we were doing in class and I liked that I knew what to do. Now that we were learning something new, I already knew I was going to have a hard time adjusting. It’s not that I don’t like learning new things, I just like doing what I know more and going from blogging to making a site was kind of overwhelming to me especially since I don’t have the best track record with working with technology. Any-who, first things first was registering my domain, hosting set up, and WordPress installation. Everything was going smoothly until I saw the words promotion code. Thinking all I had to do was log into my email click copy and paste and yayyyy domain time was the first set of inconveniences. “Why is that?” You may ask. Well, there was no promotion/coupon code in my email. I knew this wasn’t the biggest deal knowing all I had to do was email professor Seslow and ask but when something that is supposed to only take 5 minutes to complete ends up taking much longer, it’s kind of a buzzkill.

I will spare the details given they can be found in this blog post and will move onto building successes, frustrations and an over-all assessment of building and having a website. Though we had very detailed class tutorials on pages, posts, categories, navigation menus, working with widgets, installing and adding plug-ins, and the specifications and potentials of WordPress, it was a while before I had my first success. When it first came to customizing my website, I was really struggling. I didn’t know where anything was, all of my colors were clashing, I didn’t know how to set up my pages, install widgets, add categories, and adjust my navigation menu. I was a mess. I was completely down bad. I continued to do the bare minimum on my site each week just to get our assignment done for class but one week came where I realized enough is enough. I actually have to get my site together.

I began rewatching the lectures from previous class sessions where I was following the professors instructions to the best of my ability. I’m not sure what was going on in that specific moment in time but all I know is that nothing was working. The only thing I successfully did was change the background image and color which was also the only thing I knew how to do so I really didn’t make progress. Though there was a little body of text for my welcome page, I couldn’t even remember how I did that so I was really feeling hopeless. I feel myself to be more patient on some days than others which is why I chose to try to figure out my site on a patient day. I had the lectures on a consistent loop from three pm to ten pm, switching tabs, and taking a break here and there.

It wasn’t until around ten forty five at night where the universe decided I had enough and magically directed me to what I like to call “the main page”. Here I found out how to add my categories, alter my navigation menu, install plugins, and finally changed my background picture and color to something I liked. Though I made all of these changes the day after since it was so late, actually figuring put how to do everything from adding pages, categories, and customizing was my very first success and the biggest one by far. Some other successes I had with my site were my first blog post and setting up the home page which I found quite fun. Prior to my successes were my frustrations were mostly getting things started but another frustration I had was the formatting of things. When creating a page, I format everything to my ;liking but when I would press publish, the format would change. Though I didn’t figure out the issue, it’s a work in progress.

Building and having a website is definitely an experience. That is the best way I can put it. However, it is an experience I enjoy having and do plan on keeping and maintaining my site for the year that I have it. I am unsure about after though. I feel like maintaining my site would be a good opportunity to “get discovered” and just great for myself to get my thoughts out and share movies and recipes with those who may be interested. There is still so much to learn and build on for my site which is just another set of experiences and I am a firm believer that life is all about experiences. Although they may not all be good or the most enjoyable, the outcome could be great as well as the things you learn from it.

Looking back. I enjoyed this class in the whole but I’ll get into detail because why not? Some things I really enjoyed were the creative freedom,  the weekly blogs because I feel as if it’s a good detox in a sense, and working on different sites such as mmm.page and the ds106 assignment bank. I enjoyed the lack of deadlines because I am a firm believer that that deadlines stifle creativity. I enjoyed the various forms of media we learned about and utilized in our weekly assignments. I enjoyed learning new skills such as creating memes, gifs, and learning about panoramic storytelling as well as learning how to take panoramic pictures to tell a story. Those were the things that stood out to me most this semester. If I’m being honest, I cannot see myself using any of the new skills I learned in the real world YET unless it is for a job. But that does not mean I will not utilize them in time because I am one hundred percent sure that I will. Until then, I plan on maintaining my skills as well as learning more through building and maintaining my site.

To be honest, I feel like I am doing fairly well in CT101 for a variety of reasons that being I comment on my classmates’ posts as well as respond to the professor and feel like I hit every requirement in our weekly blog posts. However, that does not mean I couldn’t be doing better because I can. I could be doing more to get the full experience out of this class whether it reflects back on previous blog posts more, utilize the tools shown to us during class in my free time, and not put off the suggestions given to me for a later time. I think that when I am going through my comments and replying, I should be editing my posts at the same time. I think I have earned an average of 4-5 points a week. Grade-wise, I believe I earned an A or A minus. I believe that I earned this grade because although my blogs and site could use some extra work, the effort and potential is there which one can see. In addition, I have always felt like I put extra into this class not for the grade but because I genuinely enjoy doing this-blogging and building a site and putting my interests, voice, and point of view out there which I believe adds an element in a sense. You can tell that I dont just write these posts to get them over with or see it as an assignment but as a part of my day that I enjoy doing.

Before I do the big reveal, I would like to share a bit about my site where everything is genuine as possible and 100% self-expression is the only requirement. On my site, everyone will be able to share their food for thought and those overbearing thoughts we are victims of from time to time-hence the name over thinkers anonymous. Not everything will be on the dark side because I believe balance is key. There will most definitely be space for positive emotions as well as one’s imagination to roam free whatever it may be and lead to. I hope that viewers/users will find comfort in this site. There will be posts regarding literature, movies, comfort foods/recipes, and art of all kinds. I am aware that my site will not suit everyone’s personality/“aesthetic” but I am hoping it appeals to at least a few.

Phew. Okay that was kind of a lot…

BUT WE’RE NOT QUITE DONE YET…

Final blog post

This is my final blog post for this class I can’t believe that it’s over feels like it just started yesterday and now here I am writing my final blog post the saying really is true Time really does fly when you’re having fun and That’s what I had during this class I really enjoyed learning new concepts from learning about memes and gifs to eventually develop my own website I truly feel as though I have learned skills that translate directly into my everyday life and  I feel like I am better now that I have taken this course and gotten more familiar with technology and the digital space as this will serve me well as I continued on into digital media space with my own podcast.

I have to admit that when I first signed up for this course I was a bit apprehensive as I had taken a class such as this before and was unsure of what to expect I found that an aspect of this course that I really appreciated was the way it was structured as I felt that the class website is a great model for how to teach an online class as the information is readily available at any time is very conveniently organized which makes getting to assignments simple and easy, unlike blackboard which feels dated especially in today’s day and age were because of uncertain times flexibility is key and I really feel like this help to curb my anxiety in some ways and epitomizes what a class should look like in 2022.

As a disabled student at York College who Is diagnosed with cerebral palsy, I have had classes in which the online experience was not suited for someone with my needs and accommodations, and often times I would not get them which would severely impact my performance and oftentimes led to my withdrawal so I really appreciate Professor Ryan as he is available for communication and is very receptive to the needs of students as well as making sure students were herd and making the class a collaborative effort, unlike The way a classIs typically taught in College which is a welcomed change that ensures students have the best opportunity to succeed in the course.

Now to give you guys a quick tour of my website It’s a wrestling website that’s really simple and easy to navigate and this is where I will be posting all my future episodes of my podcast as well as articles pertaining to interesting news in the world of professional wrestling really enjoyed the process of getting integrated with all the tools available while building my website they got me out of my comfort zone and I was able to integrate my passion for my podcast into my school work It is rare when that is able to happen and just highlights how much a lot of the information that was covered in this course is very practical and full of real-world application.

ultimately though I went through my share of struggles and wasn’t perfect so if asked to grade myself on the work I’ve done throughout the semester I would give myself a B+ because I missed two assignments Do to just the lack of time I had to complete them and not always understanding how to best manage my work in this class in relation to all my other courses I do feel however that the work I have completed shows the quality and shows consistent Improvement throughout the semester As I made the effort to consistently apply new skills throughout the semester that I had learned into my blog post Ultimately I feel as though I did my best I appreciate this class for holding me accountable and I know that whatever great I do receive is one that I earned

Assignment #8

Choosing a domain name was difficult because it is what resonates most with you. I chose cincoestrellaseventos.com. It is possibly the name I want to use for my future brand. The process of setting up my domain on reclaim hosting was quick and easy. The process to build a website begins which is very exciting.

Using WordPress was interesting and fun. I like how there are a lot of customization options. In my experience when picking a theme I did not like the 2022 one I preferred using the 2020 one because it was a lot easier to navigate and customize. I messed around with the theme colors a bit to my preference. I put a big image center of the website home page to showcase what other areas of my page will be about. Which I mentioned in the, about this site widget at the bottom of the website that the website will be used to showcase decorations for all kinds of events. As well as the location of the banquet hall in which all these pictures were taken. Things are subject to change the more I learn about customizing this website but it should be a lot of fun. This is what I have so far.

Assignment #11

The beauty of panoramas is it allows you to fully capture scenes that one camera frame wouldn’t be able to. One can make a story out of any picture they take here is the story of me trying to get a shot of a bunch of yellow school buses in one shot. The thought process for this was that there was none. I just went outside and saw a bunch of school buses lined up and told myself huh why not. Now the process of getting them all in one shot was difficult. So many things are happening . Either cars were passing through, I started going left instead of right, I was going too fast apparently even though I feel like I was going pretty slow, the panorama would cut off before I could capture everything I wanted to. Here are the failed shots.

Not going to lie, I gave up on it because something always went wrong with it. So instead I took a panorama of the gas stop with the buses parked. Buses lined up ready to take students to school in the morning and an empty gas stop because gas prices are way too high, I had a lot of fun doing this even though I couldn’t capture what I wanted to. Here’s a Youtube video I used to do better throughout the process and take better ones in the future.

Assignment#12 Share your Website’s URL & Some Social Media Fun

The two websites I have analyze and enjoyed the content are:  https://aquicklaugh.com/

https://cookwitheliz.org/

Stella website “A quick laugh” is a catching phrase that really got my attention. I like how the GIPHY are used up. You made the right selection when it comes on to the pictures used for the memes. As I went on the website I started laughing. You have a great content and keep up the good work. The only thing I think you should add is a background, like a really hilarious one. Good Job!

Elizabeth your website is making me crave for some Jollof rice right now, until I know how to cook it, I will no longer order from any restaurant. I enjoy watching Nigerian food content on YouTube so much. Thank you for sharing the recipe for the jollof rice. You have great content and I hope to see more from you in the future. The only thing I see you could add is somewhere on the website that we can leave a comment. I am not sure if you have one but, on my end, I was not seeing it. I had to send my comments in the contact section. Good Job!

I must say all my classmates made some really nice content, very creative and out the box. Good job everyone!

Final Blog-THE BEGINNING OF THE END

Assignment12

Throughout the course, you could see that there are progressions in my work. Even though assignment5 is in the past, I still enjoyed the idea that I created and still went back to make changes along the way.

Making the website was quite difficult even though I had experience in the past with website development. That was the most frustrating part for me but with time I slowly figured things out. I changed the background from this

TO This

But I think I am going to change it back to image I had in the first picture. I am still thinking about it not sure yet. I would continue using my website for animations I’ve been working on and I’ve been thinking about using a  thing called Unreal Engine 5 to make a game and make the website revolve around that but I don’t think people will visit the website.

Im still going to apply my new skills into world because this class allowed me to be more free compared to my other classes so I really enjoyed that. Reading my classmate’s post was fun and I was able to see other stories, so thank you all. Even when I was doing my animations before this class I wanted to gain some tips and I think I gained knowledge on how to apply it to my work. I believe the grade I’ve earned is between 90 to 93, I worked hard to get things right even when I wanted to give up sometimes.

I think that’s about it, I tried to keep the post short, honestly I will miss this class wish more classes were like it but maybe ill go to the department next semester and see if there’s something there for me, even though it doesn’t apply to my major. Maybe an animation software I can use or something.

Assignment#11 Panoramic Storytelling & Multiplicity

Wow, I did not know how this Panoramic feature work until now.

I enjoy shopping and exploring. Each time I come to Pearl River Mart, I just stand and admire the cool items that is in this store. I am fascinated over the chopsticks and cute bags that are shape into boba, cherry, cup noodles and chocolate milk. I can hear each item saying ” Pick me, buy me ” as the winds blow on my ears. I can smell the sweet cherry blossom candles and the ceramics steering at me. Each time I left, and return felt like the very first time walking through those doors. What a joyful experience and you should explore too.

Assignment #10 – Customizing My Website (Blog Posting)

I thought customizing my website by posting my first blog post would be easy.

Woman saying she's wrong.
I’ll admit it.

Let me clarify. Writing the post wasn’t an issue. Neither was publishing it.

My problem lay in getting it to show under the specific page I wanted. I spent hours trying to figure out this issue. I Googled and Youtubed but found no solution. But in the process, I became more familiar with my website. I learned more about pages, categories and menus. I saw how they connected. But I still could not get my blog post to go under the Broadcast page.

I was pretty close.

Then I started to click on random YouTube videos. And I found the answer.

Man giving a sigh of relief and clapping his hands.
Finally!

 Cue the crescendoing music!

For your listening pleasure.

The video was published two years ago. It opened with a similar tutorial like other videos, but then it delved into the Grid element.

The Grid Block element.

With this, I could sort the blog posts through the category on the page I wanted.

Then you can sort the posts by category.
Man wiping his forehead as a gesture of relief.
It was a relief.

So, now allow me to present to you a video project I worked on over the course of the Spring ‘22 semester.

Assignment #6 – The Mid-Semester Assessment Post

Assignment#1

Assignment#2

Assignment#3

Assignment#4

Assignment #5

  1. I am feeling worried, anxious and disappointed at the same time. Due to my stressful workload and internship, I was not able to dedicate my full attention to each and every assignment which I feel horrible about because this class is indeed fun and have great contents to learn. I am not happy with how I’m doing in this class so far but moving forward I will try my best to do well and receive a grade I feel please about in the end.

2. So far, I feel like I’m not doing so well when it comes on to points which have me worried, I really want a A for this class, but I know my grades are not on that level, really disappointed and wish I did this class during my freshman year, but I only can think about moving forward and what I can change. I hope to finish the semester strong with the grade I really desire.

3. Few things that I have learned and retained the most are Hyperlinking, embedding and making memes. So cool to learn, and I use them so easy without thinking twice. Learning these tools will be essential for me when using my website or any other activity.

4. The new skills I have developed, cultivated and displayed regularly in my weekly post is making sure I showcase creative post, always hyperlinking important information that can be used as evidence, embedding if needed and just following the instructions.  This class has opened my mind to think outside the box.

5. I have a lot of potential when it comes on to creating blog post with different ideas that are unique. This class has shown me how creative I am which will help me display those ethics in my future career. My only regret is not being on time with some of my assignments, I feel like I would be even more creative.

6. I definitely know how to embed a content which I never know. I tend to copy and paste which don’t always work for some content. Embedding gives a preview which I absolutely love. So grateful to learn this technique.

7. I see changes in my weekly blog posts, I normally just add one or two GIPHY and my information. But now I think about ideas first before starting, that way I will see which area I’m lacking and improve as I go along. I see my growth and I know things will get even better.

8. Yes, I am missing:

Assignment#3

Assignment#4

Assignment #5

I only comment on four classmates blog post so far which I need to work on, and I know I will be able to by the end of the semester. I take the professor and classmates comments into consideration and will do the necessary corrections. I do participate whenever the professor asks a question or want us to raise a hand or thumps up. I am accountable for all the work I did and did not do.  Moving forward, I will try my best to get everything done before the semester end. Dedicating a day to at least get two or three blog post done. This will be effective for me, and I anticipate enjoying those moments.

I feel disappointed, and worried at the same time knowing that I am not up to pace with these blog post as I wanted. Plus, I have plenty workload from other courses and internship. This semester is one of my most stressful since attending York, maybe because am graduating. Just hoping for the best, but I know I will pull through all these obstacles.

Assignment #11 – Panoramic Storytelling

Panorama and Storytelling

Utilizing The Panoramic Camera

So in class we went over how to use the panoramic camera setting to be able to tell a story of sorts. We went out into the hallway and broke up into two groups. My group (along with the professor for two of them) created three scenes. One with everyone dancing, another with everyone fighting, and lastly one where we were all attempting to create some really odd/morphed shots while everyone was moving. My favorite scene had to have been the one where everyone was in a fighting position. My role was to be in the middle of an argument with another student while the professor was trying to break it up. By the end of the shot now it’s the professor fighting me instead of the student.

Now It’s My Turn

Since it’s finals week I decided that it would be incredibly fitting to portray all my personal stages of coping with finals. There’s stage 1, the stress phase, where I dread the oncoming stress that’s about to come while trying to study the massive wave of information. Stage 2, the study phase, where I finally get my [R E D A C T E D] together and start planning out what it is I need to study. Finally there’s stage 3, where I feel confident enough (or as confident as I wish I could feel) to take the exams and get on with it.

Now, onto the next stage…

STRESS EATING!!

One of the biggest issues I’ve come to realize I have is that I find comfort in eating junk food when I’m stressed. Did you know! That your gut microbiome produces up to 90% of the serotonin in your body! (Sources: my bio-major girlfriend). So no wonder it’s called comfort eating. I thought it would also be  fitting to showcase my frequent trips to the vending machine throughout my studying process.

Assignment#9 The WordPress Customizing Series, Part 1

HIIIII Everyone!

This is my website feel free to visit and leave a comment.

So, I will start talking about the steps I take on building my website. I did all the setting up ahead of time when I first went on word press, I change my theme, I did all the necessary adjustment to my liking, to make things easier for me and to also get right into adding my contents. I definitely follow Professor Seslow on each step which was very helpful.

Furthermore, I got started with my website and post all the contents that I will be talking about. I made all the adjustments in the “about this site” and “Find Us” section which will be below.

After creating everything, I like how it all turned out, but I felt like it was missing something. I add couple backgrounds, but it didn’t work out because it was hard to read the content. I browse around and still did not find anything suitable. Then an idea just pop into my head. I started to think about using the Jamaica flag colors as my background, I wasn’t able to add all three colors, but I add two.

Please feel free to leave a comment on my website. This is just the starting of my journey, I will be adding more contents, who knows I may show you different places I have visit when in Jamaica.

Assignment #10 – Making A Blog Post

My First Blog Post

So the time finally came where I upload my first ever blog post. Pretty exciting times I’d say. I went ahead and went through some recent programming projects I’ve been working on and decided to post the first ever python project I completed. Now, it’s time to wait and see if there’ll be any critiques on how I did. I mean, the whole point of my blog is to improve right? On the other hand, I continued to work on other aspects of my website. I went ahead and completed my “about” page. I decided to introduce myself and give a little background on my experiences as a learning programmer. Along with this, I also put into detail as in why I decided to make my website the way it is. I really like how the end result came out!

Since the whole point of my website is to help keep people motivated, I figured it was appropriate to add a bit of motivational text to let visiting people know what the page is really about. I mean I’m no Rocky Balboa at motivational speeches but I figured I’d give it a try since it fits the theme.

It’s nice to see overall how the page is coming along. I definitely still want to tweak a few aspects of it and I still have my contact page is to complete, but hey I’m almost there. If anyone is interested in checking out my first python project and want to leave their own critique please feel free! You can press here to check out my blog post and see if there’s anything you’d want to say about it. I look forward to hearing from you all!
