Assigment 10 & 11 Website Done !

I can’t believe that I’m a website owner. Like I actually have my own website that I build from starch following professor Seslow tutorial videos. My website is called A-TOWNCLOTHING.COM. It is based  on a brand me and friends came up with. The website allows you to purchase A-TOWN t-shirts.

In the website clothing section you can see the available t-shirts. For example at the moment we have Navy blue and white logo A-town shirts, Black and white logo A-town shirts available in all sizes for $19.99.

Black and white logo A-town shirt available in all sizes for $19.99.
Navy blue and white logo A-town shirt

The website also has an Upcoming page, where the customers can find the new t-shirt that will drop soon. For instance we have the Orange and white logo A-TOWN shirt coming soon in all sizes for $19.99.

A-TOWN website is very simple and easy to use. The only improvement I think it needs is the picture of the shirts can be a little better. Other than that I think the website is amazing and I’m really proud of my work. All the hours watching professor Seslow tutorial videos stressing, paid off.

Me to myself.

CT101 Final Blog Post / Shanjida Choudhury

Its the final week of class and my final week as an undergrad student here at York and I’m having mixed feeling about it.

It’s been a hell of a 4 years of college!

Nonetheless, CT 101 was a cherry on the top of my final semester as an undergrad. CT101 aka “Digital Storytelling” class took me through an excursion I was anxious about in view of clear reasons. As I have referenced a couple of times previously, I am not at all creative or so tech-savvy by any means. Yet, I delighted in acquiring minimal technological complexities in this class *cough cough* CODING.

I became addicted with including GIFs and hyperlinking everything just to get my point across. CT 101 caused me to understand that the web is a foundation of limitless freedoms exceptionally assuming you have an inventive attitude. Beginning from making GIFs, images to tweaking my own site I didn’t see myself here prior to taking this class. The motivation behind this class was to extend our inventiveness even a little with every task. Prior too taking this course, I never actually thought about how memes and GIFs are “art.” After watching this video:

it prompted me to think outside of the box and look at what art really is. Arts is not just the Stary Night by Van Goh,

“The goal of art is to express a person’s truth, and if the purpose of art is art, then memes fit the bill.”

Prof. Seslow urged us to communicate our imaginative personalities on each blog entry. We were urged to utilize the immense choices out there on the web to be inventive, innovative, and expressive with regards to them.

Will Jida Styles Live On?

I hope to continue blogging on the site and expand on my creativity. I would like to set time aside to learn about the other features on WordPres. There are SO many plug-ins that I have yet to use and I am sure it will take my website to a different level.

Since I am using the theme “Ashe” I need to learn about all the features to use it to its fullest.I found this video on YouTube explaining how to use the theme:

Blogging is  very therapeutic for me. I don’t have anyone telling  what I can or cannot do! There are no rules, there are no actual restrictions. It’s just a little world I like to escape into.

Self-Assessment

This is always a tricky part for me because when I am actually doing my work I don’t ever stop to realize how I’ve grown in my creativity. Before I go any further, I’d like to link all of my blogposts here to make life easier:

Judging from my first post to the 10th post, I can firmly say that I have improved tremendously. As someone who couldn’t care less about hyperlinks and its importance to someone who cannot function without making sure her audience gets the full deal it’s surprising. With all that being said, I believe I deserve an A-A+.

Tour of My Site

Homepage:

I really love my homepage because it gives a general overview of what my website is about. I like how a user can see my most recent blog post. On the right side of the page there is a search engine and the recent comments right under it. I also love this feature because users will now know that they leave me feedback and new ideas!

As you can see, I have added a quotation block that quotes Coco Chanel and then right under it I have inserted TikTok videos of a modest outfit inspo.

About Page:

On the ‘About’ page I have inserted a little bio of me and my internet as well as explaining what my website is really about. However, I feel like this will change as I keep blogging and figure out what my main focus is. In other words, what is it I am talking about. I have inserted a combination of GIFs and an image that explain what I am trying to say.

Blog Page:

If a user clicked on the ‘Blog’ page then they will be be able to see a snippet of both blogs that I have posted thus far. If they click on ‘view more’ then the entire post will be visible.

Links To Fashion Page:

The Links To Fashion page are just stores that I believe have the best “modest” clothing or clothing that allows you to be different and play around with styles. I have copied in the images from Google and then hyperlinked the websites with the images so the user can be redirect to the shopping sites.

Left Side Widgets

On the left sidebar, I have added widgets which can direct a user to to any page they want to visit. I have also added a Home Decor Inspo page that I will be developing because that is another thing that I have interest in!

 Home Decor Inspo:

Here is the start of Home Decor Inspo. I have added buttons above the image to helps users shop what they like from the images so they can also have it in their homes.

and that’s a wrap of my tour, I hope you enjoyed the aesthetics.

CT101 Final Blog Post

Goodbye for now classmates and professor, until we meet again.

Goodbye, everyone, I’m really going to miss reading you guys’ posts and reacting to them.

The most significant lesson I found was how to be more creative and vivid through the production of appealing gifs and memes. So far in this semester, digital storytelling has been my most important learning asset because it demands successful technology integration and learning. Using animations to convey and express my point of view is one of the new abilities I’ve gained, fostered, and demonstrated on a regular basis in my writings. By using Makeameme, I learned how to make a meme. I made a meme by taking an eye-catching photograph and writing a caption that might be either funny or relatable. The meme was then tweaked to my liking. By using giphy, I learned how to make a gif. I made my gif using a movie scene from YouTube. I pasted the YouTube URL into Giphy Create. The video must be trimmed to catch the right moment for the gif by picking a start time and duration. Then I embellished my gif with a caption, animation, sticker, and filter. I discovered how to use WordPress to set up a website. The first step was deciding on a topic for my website. The second step was to select my domain name and set up my hosting provider. The final step was to set up WordPress and select a theme. Twenty twenty-one was the theme I chose. The fourth stage was to personalize my website; I designed a logo, added images, categories, plugins, and a background. The final stage was to keep my website up to date by adding new posts and pages with information on my experience.

I learned so much by taking this course.
I’m more digital advance, all thanks to this course.

I believe I am sustaining an A in CT 101 because I adhere to all of the criteria and return to revise my content as needed. My blog postings include animations as well as explanations. I’m positive I’ll get an A in this class since I’m seeing my weekly blogging effort expand creatively as I have more ideas for how to accomplish the assignment and a greater understanding of making digital material. I always leave comments on the blogs of my classmates. I always pay attention to the instructor in CT 101 class and ask questions if I am unclear. In addition, I always contribute by completing weekly projects.

Finger crossed that a get an ‘A’ in this course.

I enjoyed producing memes because I saw them all the time on social media, and being able to create my own was a terrific opportunity for me to learn to be more digitally creative. Having the ability to create memes can be used in the written text because memes are a form of self-expression that can also be used as a marketing tool to raise awareness of global issues. People appreciate memes that communicate their emotions and push them to think about themes in the novel and intriguing ways. This new talent may be utilized to social media to communicate with consumers in novel ways that resonate with your market and set you apart, which could benefit your organization. Memes are viral images or videos that can be contentious, critical, or humorous, and they make entertainment and global affairs more relatable in today’s society. Such photos hope to grab the audience’s attention through design appeal.

I really enjoyed making memes.

I will keep my website up and running since I received positive comments from my colleagues, and I know my hair adventure will inspire others to start their own. I have a few more hair tales to tell. I’d like to share photos of my hair from before, throughout, and after my hair journey. I also want to share my thoughts, problems, guidance, and ideas about natural hair. I also want to post videos on how to do trendy natural hairstyles.

Happy to keep producing more content on my site.

Tour of my website:

As you approach the home-front page, you’ll notice a gray and pink emblem with the words “Kiki’s natural hair journey, wear it with pride.” The phase will be repeated to the left of the main page. The three categories presented on the right side of the home page are home, about, and blog. The home page also includes three lovely illustrations that show how to wear natural hair with pride. There is a search bar, recent posts, recent comments, archives, and categories as you scroll down the home page. The about section is on the second page. The blog portion is on the third page. The blog portion includes the first blog, chapter 1, and chapter 2 of my hair journey.

kikisnaturalhairjourney

Since I followed the instructor’s recommendations, registering from my own domain and setting up hosting was a breeze. Kikisnaturalhairjourney is the name of the domain I developed. This website will display to readers how I grew my natural hair to waist length in four years. I explained why started my natural hair journey and why I cut off all of my relaxed hair. I also provided tips on how to grow long, thick, and healthy natural hair. However, the procedure was becoming increasingly stressful. My domain would not register after signing up for WordPress due to an issue with the invoice. I emailed reclaiming hosting, and they solved the problem, and now my domain is registered. I was relieved that I can finally access my domain and begin documenting my experience. I expected the process of setting up a domain, hosting, and WordPress was to be simple with no drawbacks.

I felt frustrated and overwhelmed while building my website.

I worked on creating a logo, background, blog, photos, and an about page. The background was straightforward and entertaining. The logo was tough to troubleshoot because most websites required a cost, and selecting a logo was difficult. It was tough to edit my website and to add photographs. It was difficult for me to add photographs to my website since I didn’t know how and I was frustrated because I didn’t know where to put the images. I intend to use this website to document my natural hair journey and to offer advice on how to grow long beautiful natural hair. My weblog will feature a series of posts documenting my natural hair journey from start to finish. I adore the visual design of my website, and I intend to keep adding new content to it. I’m very happy with the success of my website because I never imagined I’d be able to own it and build it entirely on my own.

My website is a complete success.

CT 101 FINAL BLOG POST / SAJANI SUFIAN

Time flies. I am writing the final blog post for the most exciting class. What a great experience it has been in this class!

I want to thank Professor Ryan for being so helpful. We need more teachers like him because he has the most beneficial teaching style.

“Digital Storytelling” class took me through a journey I was nervous about because of obvious reasons. As I have mentioned a few times before, I am not tech-savvy at all. But I enjoyed learning little technological skills in this class. I fell in love with making GIFs. CT 101 made me realize that the internet is a platform of unlimited opportunities specially if you have a creative mindset. Starting from making GIFs, memes to customizing my personal website- I didn’t see myself here before taking this class. The purpose of this class was to expand our creativity even a little with each assignment. The professor encouraged us to express our creative minds on each blog post. We were encouraged to use the vast options out there on the internet to be creative, imaginative, and expressive about them. Reading several articles in CT 101 taught me that communicating using GIFs, memes in the digital world is not only the way of having fun with friends, but it means a lot to some people out there because they are so passionate about it that they made a career out of it. I enjoyed learning about these people who do what they love to do. In a way, they are communicating to the world the message that we all should learn more about what interests us.

I am not so confident about receiving an A in this class. I have completed the assignments on time but I doubt if they consisted of high-quality creative outputs. Creativity, Perception, Intuition, Imagination are amazing things to possess. I have all the other three except digital creativity. Being bad at both technology, and digital art- makes me less confident about receiving an A in this class. I express my creative thinking, my perception, imagination in my writing. The website that I have created, is based on my writing content. I have done my best in this class by following instructions, watching Professor’s tutorials to complete each assignment. So, considering the effort, and having completed all the assignments on time, I think I can hope for an A in CT 101.

Assignment #11

Everything that we learn in our daily lives, we apply them even unknowingly into the world. It can be a skill, an idea, a thought, a process, a method. Sometimes working through a particular project teaches us some deeper aspects that we do not acknowledge instantly. For example, while customizing the website not only we learned the procedure to build a website on WordPress, we also learned to be patient with any major project because taking one step at a time makes any work easier and clearer. In this class along with creating GIFs, memes, finding out several assignment webpages, learning about so many cool different ways to express creativity like the assignment repository, creating and customizing a website- I also enjoyed seeing my classmates’ creativity levels. Every blog post from each of them was a new idea and perception. I enjoyed the method of composing each blog post in this class. I feel like I have always wanted to format and compose assignments in this method. This format is my favorite style and I have always loved writing in this format in my social media posts. Now when I have learned to make GIFs, I will be making some often. I have already started to use the ones I made to communicate with friends. I remember doing an assignment in this class in which I used GIFs to tell a story. I think this is going to be one of my ways to express a story from now on. It will expand my creativity along with my readers’. CT 101 has made me look at things I use every day in a different way. The use of social media, how it can be embedded into our professional platform is one of them. Students who will be using their newly customized websites for professional usage now know how to hyperlink social media accounts to their websites for the visitors to find them. This way, there are more available mediums to connect to them. Speaking of my website, I have been procrastinating in creating a blog to publish my writings. CT 101 tutorials and class sessions have made me finally get it started. This class made me realize once again that every time I hear something about being creative, I can only think of putting my thoughts and imagination into my own words and style. I like studying communications. I want to be able to communicate better with people using other methods except writing too. So, here I am majoring in Communications Technology. I believe the skills I have learned in CT 101, will benefit me in my further courses as well.

Also, I have learned to pay more mindful attention to the content on the internet. By this I mean, if I like a haircare tutorial video on Youtube, now I start to think about writing a review on this! After learning skills in CT 101, I can now connect those to developing my creative and thoughtful writing skills.

I have decided to maintain the personal website that I have registered and customized as CT 101 class project. As I have mentioned before, I have been thinking about creating my own blog to publish my writings. A website feels like a more focused way on the internet to stay connected to people from all over the world. I can always post my writings on my social media accounts but maintaining a website makes it a certain page that focuses only on one particular work of mine. I understand that maintaining a website may sometimes feel like extra work to do because of full-time college classes. But I believe if I have the intention and mindset to keep it, and believe that I started it only to take it further, I will keep it. I can post the writings that I post on my social media accounts on sajanisufian.com as well.

This is the homepage of my website. Since it’s “my” website and I intend to use it for posting my writings, I thought it would be nice to welcome my visitors with something encouraging I believe in.

I took my time deciding on how to organize my “about” menu. Then I removed the “contact” menu from my purple website. I just wrote some basic information about myself on the “about” menu.

With the menu “blog”, I have a sub-page called “creative writing”. I will post my fictional writings under that menu. And fact-based, opinion-based discussions directly under “blog”.

So far, there are three blog posts on my website. Please read them anytime you want & leave some thoughts, comments for me.

First post

Introductory post

You are fine!

I have created a menu called “favorite quotes” on my website. I often come across sayings/quotes by different people that I like. I have the intention of sharing those on my website with proper credit as well.

I spend a lot of time on social media reading posts from others and thinking about them. I try to analyze every discussion that I come across. Trying to understand the writer’s main point, perception teaches me how every mind is so contributive in this society somehow. This exercise expands my critical thinking capacity. During my free time, I often happen to write down what’s on my mind/a thought, or opinion about a current issue, or a story that has been on my mind for a while. Before registering my domain, it was my intention to use my personal website for the same cause. This is how I plan to keep and maintain my website.

I decided to design my site icon with my initials. I created this very basic design on Photoshop and used it as my site icon. When I had to decide between a few appropriate domain names for my website, I finally decided to go with my first & last name. The main reason I chose purple as my background color is that it’s my favorite color. And it combines well with my site purpose because it will be mostly writings. This dark color gives the visitors the impression that the content in this site is serious. I also added “photography” as one of my menus before, but then I realized that I should only focus on one part which is writing. So far, I like how my site looks. I did not have much frustrations while customizing it, I just had to be so attentive and patient with the process. I was excited too. Professor Ryan’s tutorials have been really helpful. I decided to take off the secondary menu and leave the footer area of my site only with the “recent posts”.  I think I will keep it simple and serious as it is now.

Once again, I would like to thank everyone in this class. Even though we did not get to attend class in-person, I still think somehow we contributed to each other’s creativity “digitally”. Keep sharing great thoughts and ideas.

Assigment #12: Final Reflexion – Victor Pimentel

I want to start this off with an amazing blog post reference from my classmate  He is a pioneer because he was the first one to do the final reflection. He has an image of his favorite Pokémon in his reflection post.

And I think I speak for everybody when I say we are all Pokémon in this class because we have evolved into a better version of ourselves. And I say this because now I take all this knowledge I learn from this class and apply outside it. I think that’s the greatest skill I take away from this class. I was talking to one of my professor Larry, yesterday actually about how CT have impacted my life and this class really show me that.

Turtwig GIF | GfycatI mean the last line from the other paragraph literally. Likewise, I took like 3 CT classes this semester. I don’t know why I did it, now that I look back, next semester is my final one, and I’m done with all my CS classes which is my major (computer science). And I was just looking for classes with writing intensive class. So I found CT 201 from Professor Larry and choose it. Then I loved the feel of that class and looked for another class in CT and I pick CT 160 because I wanted to learn design since I’ll become an App Developer soon and wanted the necessary skill.

Here’s a fun story of how I decided on this class, I actually was not supposed to be in this class. I was supposed to be part of an art class. So glad I changed last minute my decision and all it took was to have ONE class with Prof. Stephen Kwok. After the introduction class, I immediately rush into the York College website and look for the CT minor requirement. I did not have a minor until that point but I knew I wanted this as my minor. And I know this was not an impulsive decision, I fall in love with media back when I studied at BMCC. I took a class with Prof. Ira Epstein and it made me rethink my major, was I meant to do computer science or multimedia is what I love? Luckily talking to him I looked at my problem differently. I can do both things because they actually connect. I have always look programming as a tool, anybody can make a program, is like a hammer and chisel to make a structure. All you need to know is how it works but if you don’t have that creative side you won’t be able to find solutions to a problem. Here is a public lecture from my old professor so you can get familiarized with his work.

I would like to talk about my website now and what I’m currently using it for. No only that, but I want to also showcase all the website I have. First, here is the first website I make on my own; HTML, CSS, JavaScript is called victorjota.com and while is not really my actual first website I create it’s the one I have build using all the information gathered. I created this for my project with Prof. Ira Epstein. I put so much passion into it. I remember when I bought the domain for this in this class, the professor told us to look for website name but I got too excited and bough it. More of this story here in one of my blogpost.

EL TROVADOR DEL PUEBLO - YouTube

There is another one that I have called trovadordelpueblo.com and this was meant for one of my father shows so I have not assign a code into it. Maybe with the new experience I obtained I’ll use wordpress and make it real finally.

The next one I have I also made it in this class. I fall in love with the hosting company the professor show us and decided to make another website  with them. This one is about a digital radio show I’ll be making soon so feel free to join!

And Finally here is the big one. I think I’ll probably transfer the domain to my brother (since we have the same name). But all my work and my plan I’ll continue with my old website. There I plan to make to upload tutorials of how to do certain things and the projects that I make. I think that being new to the technology make it complicated for me to develop my website. I’m so used to make every detail on my own that simplicity was difficult for me. Although as you can see I have many wordpress website now. I’m sure that with time I’ll learn. So keep checking my websites and my progress, maybe right now as you reading this my website is different then what it shows in the image. Anyway I’ll end it here since I have so much work to do with my website!

Assignment #10:

This is my first post. I decided to post an update of what I have done in the commons website. I added a link to my Assignment #9 which was about customizing my wordpress. It was an update on how my work was going. The link to my first post is -> here.

This is my second post on my website. You can visit the actual page of my post #2 in this link. I included a picture of two types of drinks I have tried from Starbucks. I added a little explanation of when I have the drinks or why (you will understand when actually going into the link and reading the post). I also added a sentence or two of a comparison of the two. Well, to be clear, the comparison is in my opinion.

When it comes to the first part of this assignment, I can say that progress is coming along. As I stated in the beginning of this post, I have added two new posts to the website. I re-published a work from my personal website and I added a whole new post about something I love. I will, hopefully in the future, add a post using a plug-in. I hope to continue adding more posts!

Assignment #9- The WordPress Customizing Series, Part 1!

I was indecisive when it came to choosing a background color for my wordpress. I was stuck between a light blue color or a darker royal blue. I opted to go with the lighter option so that my font color remains black. To me, a darker font stands out more on a lighter background than a lighter font on a dark background.

This is the color I chose. I decided to just include my name and the class’ name to make it unique and simple. It states that it is my website for CT101 but it does not limit what I will post.

I decided to add a little bit about myself on the website. I included what I am majoring in, my favorite person, and I added a picture of us. This part was fun and tricky because I still did not know what exactly an audience would want to know about me. I am shy so I did not know what I wanted to share.

I think I will post a variety of things. I would want to include pictures of different foods I enjoy, different places I would love to visit, my journey in my education and major. I would also like to include different “coffees” I have tried. I put it in quotes because some people may argue that starbucks coffee is more creamer than actual coffee.

Assignment #7: Domains Domains!

My mistake on doing the assignments out of order! I decided to do assignment #8 before doing assignment #7; therefore, I ended up choosing a domain name before brainstorming different domain names. I chose http://julissa1122penaloza.com/ as my domain name. Being that I chose that domain, you can infer that, at that time, it was available [haha]. I also decided to choose a domain that had my name in it. I made it unique by adding some numbers.

If I had done this assignment in the sequence I was supposed to complete it in, I would have made a list of the following domains:
1. http://my_every_daylife.com I would have chosen this to communicate, with an audience, what I do in my every day life.
2. http://nursing101.com With this domain, I would have blogged about survival tips when going into nursing. I has been quite a journey so far and I am not even close to the end. I would have loved to share my experience.
3. http://change_is_inevitable.com In this website, I would have talked uploaded daily quotes. Quotes that are simply about life, even inspirational quotes.
4. http://seasonsinNewYork.com I would have loved to share different pictures of different outfits one can wear throughout the 4 seasons in New York. I would have shared both female and female ideas.
5. http://netflixreviews.com In this website, I would have shared my reviews to different movies or shows on Netflix. Honest reviews with a number grade to it, the good, the bad and what could have been better.

One of my favorite websites is tiktok.com

I like this website, not because it is currently trending, but because there is a variety of videos that can keep you entertained or even educated. I, myself, follow a lot of nursing tiktokers. As you can see on the left side of the picture, you can also find videos about games, food, music, pets and funny videos.

Assignment #12: Final Reflection

Art of my favorite Pokémon; Turtwig. Art by @do_rakgak

Overall, I can’t complain about this class. It’s fair in both pace and difficulty. I now have complete confidence in my skills of web design and revision. I can’t wait to use them when I remake my old website. Or just make a new one. As with most creative classes, this class improved by innovative practices. Especially in writing for blog posts. While I feel that my story writing could use some more honing, my casual speech has definitely improved. A great victory for me, considering I’m relatively bad at communicating with my peers. I tend to have a bad tendency to speak formally due to preference and upbringing.

The first couple of weeks (August 31st-October 19th) were more to my liking. Not only did our assignments teach us how to make a blog, it did so in one of the most interactive ways: introspection.  Perhaps introspection isn’t the best word to use for what we did, but it’s the closest word that fits the description. The first week’s assignments asked us to make blogs posts that answered questions about blog posts. The “What is a meme?” assignment comes to mind. Being the scholar that I am, I found it delightful to read everyone’s thoughts on the matter as well as research and make my own.

 Indifference

After the first seven weeks, this class started to drag for me. Not to say I didn’t stop enjoying this class, but in terms of the assignment being more towards my liking, it dragged. At the cost of sounding like a broken record, our assignments were essentially something I had already done before. These prompts did allow me to hone my skills in web design. For instance, old Tyler would have never wanted to put memes or gifs in his posts. I would have thought they rendered the atmosphere of my blogs to be more carefree instead of analytical and serious. Note that this was coming from a guy who wanted to talk about the improvement of game design for his favorite series, such as Pokémon and Kirby.

I’m not demanding (at least I hope I’m not), but I have to answer this question. In my heart, I feel like I’ve earned an A, but in my mind, I think that I’ve earned a B to B+. Most of my blog posts are somewhat mediocre, in my opinion. Also, I was probably the least interactive person with my classmates, an old habit from my childhood that will always be reborn.

As previously stated, I’ll be leaving the website I’ve made from this class and the website I’ve made before alone. New start, new slate. With that being said, I’m not the biggest fan of WordPress. Yes, there are different themes that the web builder provides. However, the web builder I’ve used before (SquareSpace) had much more to use right off the bat with the addition of being much more adaptable. For instance, I could put a text block anywhere on my site. From there, I could expand it, condense it, make it an image, etcetera. Neither have a big difficulty curve either.

From word to square

The Ramos Hold

Ironically, the entire concept of The Ramos Hold is me giving a tour of the website as if I was showing off my estate. Let’s begin, shall we?

The Hold’s Entrance

Welcome to the Ramos Hold! Pretty empty right now but make yourself at home. Here I plan to fill the library with my works and concepts. There’ll be other things I’ll add here and there, but as of right now, it’s just a library. If you’d like to read my works, you can go to…my works section. As of right now, there’s only one work there. It’s an abridged version of a story I’ve been working on since high school. As a matter of fact, I shared the draft of my novel in my checkpoint assignment for this class.

It was an honor to be in a class with you all. May you all experience great success and prosperity.

Seriously, thank you.

I was checkin out my fellow classmate’s websites and I saw some splendid stuff going on. Great job everyone. You guys gave me ideas for my own website, thanks. 😉

Me stealing you guys ideas 😂

I discovered Tyler’s website and it was one of my favorite’s. The template he chose and the color scheme match the vibe he creates. I was drawn in by the home page where he introduces you to his world of ideas and creativity. It paints a picture in your mind of this imaginative space and you feel welcome to join. I was really impressed by his recent blog post where he shares one of his creative written works. Definitely go check it out, I was captivated by the great writing. Looking forward to other ones Tyler.

If you need some fashion advice go check out Shanjida’s website to keep you up to date with all the latest fashion trends on a budget. The template choice is chef’s kiss, it complements the topic and theme of her website. I like the home page because it introduces you to her type of style. Her first blog post is easy to follow and straight to the point. The guys would appreciate some fashion advice too. Thanks 😮

Assignment #10: “Creating a Website for CT 101”

Assignment 10 – Look at the new Blog!

Since my website will mainly focus on the voices of the people and their opinions on various news topics, I decided to make a blog on the assignment of creating a website. I decided to write a blog about the process of creating a website and how the students in this class were excited, but also confused.

Me working on the blog all day

Dear readers, this is my very first blog specifically made for my website and I would appreciate it if you checked it out! The website still needs to be worked on, but it will eventually get there.

My website

Assignment #11: World Jumping

I’m going to try to comment on everyone’s websites in a list-like order. Here we go.

  1. Shanjida: Nice fashion site. I see you’re more into styling. If I may ask, what does the term modest mean regarding fashion? I’m not too familiar with the term. While we’re on the topic, what’s what of the most horrid pieces of clothing to you guys. For me, it’s crocs and “better” crocs. Just buy some slides or some comfy payless shoes. The only cool thing I can say about them is croc charms. But even then, just get some pins and put them on your backpack or something.
These are examples of “better” crocs. What am I looking at?

2. Nader: A nice blend of history and photography. My only complaint is that we didn’t get to see a history blog about places such as Cairo Castle (I’m a sucker for castles) and Yemen-dar-al-hajar Palace.

3. Victor: I’m not exactly sure what this website is supposed to be. It felt as if I read into someone’s diary. I don’t say that in a bad way. In addition to that, that flutter video confused me to no end.

4. Brandon: Good job with the music blog. But, I must say you asked a tough question for me in there. Music and I have a weird relationship. I do adore it and understand its value, yet at the same time, I get bored of it very quickly. Most music from radios and artists outside of projects are just flavor to me. Flavor is good but, you have to have some texture too. How does the song smell? What does it look like? I don’t have these questions when listening to music from video games, cartoons, and movies. Not to say that “flavor music” can’t have this effect on me, but that’s primarily because of me. There’s no character behind the notes. To me, it’s just the artist singing or playing their music in my ear. Perhaps this issue would be solved if I learned about the artist.

But anywho, here are some of the songs I’ve been listening to a lot recently.

*Disclaimer: Dream Bqq may be disturbing; I couldn’t find a link that just had the music. Sorry*

5. Alejandra: You and my friend would bond over your shared interest in Clairo and Cuco. Have you heard of Roy Pablo? Anywho, cool personal blog. Glad to know there are other creatives out there, you know?

6. Kiara: I never thought I’d see a hair growth blog.  Is that common? Since I’m currently on a hair-growth journey myself, do you have any tips on some of the better products to get? That’s always what I get stumped on.

Assignment 9

Assignment 9

Messing around with the website:
Share those opinions

Since I’m new to this website building format and all the tools for it, I was very confused at the options presented to me. The easiest parts were adding in the logo and the background photo because I want my website to be built around the same idea America had; to give the people the right to speak their minds and share their opinions. Freedom of speech is important and it’s shown to be very useful at times, but harmful in other times. However, my website main focus is to present different opinions and views by the people on recent news issues or anything worth of interest. For example, a lot of people were torn whether Travis Scott should be blamed for the incidents that happened at his concert. This is an engaging news story that is very conflicted.

Now onto the hard part about creating a website for the first time. Creating a website for the first time was difficult mainly because the brain can easily think creatively until it’s actually time to do something. That is the dilemma I had for this assignment. I saw many tools that I have no prior knowledge about and I panicked. Even choosing the colors was a difficult task because it’s a website and you want it to look presentable. Amongst choosing a color, I saw sections such as widgets, homepage settings and “Additional CS” to where I just stopped what I was doing and made sure to stop before I mess around with things I don’t know anything about yet.

My reaction to the tools

However, I am looking forward to learning about these tools to help me create this website. It’s still intriguing and it feels great to have this opportunity to do something this special and hopefully create a passion for it. I can tell it’ll be useful in careers such as mine that deals with writing and interviewing. The website is a great way to spread opinions and views on the latest news because it still keeps that Journalism feel to it.

Assigment #9 My Word Press customization

Customizing my website was a bit frustrating because I was undeceive about  what I wanted my website to be. Throughtout the week I decided that I will make a clothing brand website for my friend. I was nervous and excited at the same time because I wanted to help him. However I was nervous because I never created a website before and the idea of creating a website was mind bottling.

After watching the tutorial video, i gained a little confidence and started during my website. First, I chose a solid black background color because I wanted the website to be simple. Then I started working on the homepage. The website have four pages Home, Clothes, Upcoming and About. After hours on working on the website I finally did it, I was able to complete my website. My website name is A-TOWNCLOTHING.COM

Assignment #11- Social Media & WordPress

Gif of surprised expression.

It’s very exciting to see all the different websites my fellow classmates have made. It’s really nice to see their websites surrounding their interests and the things they are passionate about. They all look great and can’t wait to see more of their blog posts in the future.

Screenshot of Kiara’s website.

I really liked Kiara’s website, there are three categories which are very helpful to get around the page. I’m very excited to read more because although I do not have curly hair, I hope she talks about products or/and ingredients that are not healthy for the scalp and hair itself. Also because I have somewhat damaged hair and will be cutting it short very soon. Also I did comment on her first blog post, I think it’s interesting because it feels like we are reading a story and it left off with a cliff-hanger.

I also really liked Nader’s website. The background complements all the photos added so well. The blog posts are very informative and are interesting to read. I learned about the architectural Shahareh Bridge and its history.

Screenshot of my newest blog post.

For my new blog post I actually created a new category as well. Throughout the weekend I stumbled upon a TikTok and it made me think about how much I enjoy reading and listening to poems. Therefore the category I added was Poetry, and with the assignment including social media I thought it was the perfect combination.
